I came across some research on using specialised reflexology to help with lymphoedema. I had one session with a therapist trained in RLD and while I thought I saw some improvement at the time I'm not sure now. I was bandaging my arm at the time so it was hard to know. Has anyone had it done with successful or unsuccessful results?

Thank you RainyDay for the study! I didn't realize it was a British study until I saw the word, "Whilst."

It will be interesting to see if anyone else has tried it, especially since you did seem to think it worked at the time. Are you considering trying it again?

I had 11 nodes removed. I go for weekly IV EDTA chelation (supervised by my doctor) to pull out heavy metals and toxins and to increase my microcirculation. She had me do a chelation the day before my bc surgery, and followed up with high dose IV vitamin C three days later. I felt that both significantly helped my speed of recovery from surgery.

I think I will ask her on Monday if she is a proponent of reflexology for lymphedema. I am halfway through seven weeks of radiation and no lymphedema thus far, but I am at increased risk.

Thanks again for the study!

Love,

Esther

The original study was done by Sally Kay who's Welsh.

I've booked another session in in 2 weeks so fingers crossed. Therapist is on holidays at the moment.

For someone who has not developed lympoedema but at a risk it might even be more useful to get the fluid to find a different path. My lymphoedema developed before I had a recurrence so I'm blaming the new cancer. I had 12 years after mastectomy without any issues.

That was a very interesting presentation! In a time where it is increasingly difficult to find a trained lymphatic massage therapist, it's pretty exciting to consider other options for moving lymph and relieving some symptoms and swelling. Thanks for sharing :).
