I am almost 1 year out....and I have my onco visit this friday, so I know I have to sit and wait, but I just noticed a small, moveable lump about an inch below my incision on the cancer side.
I had bilateral, no recon.
I'm wondering if anyone found a lump 1 year out and it turned out to be nothing....
I sooooooooo don't want to go through anything more....
wish me luck.

Thank you for your words of comfort.
Just bilateral mastectomy. I was told lumpectomy/rads or mastectomy, so I opted for bilaterals....
I hate this worry and feeling helpless...
thank you again.
I will post when I know more...

I had bilateral masts with no reconstruction in Dec 2005. Last summer 2007 I found a small lump the size of pea just above my right incision line (right side was ductal bc in 2000, left side was the most recent advanced Lobular bc dx)
I was worried about it too, showed it to my surgeon and she ordered an ultrasound which stated they thought it might be an enlarged lymph node :( I went in for outpt surgery to have it removed. Turned out it was a remnant of an old suture plus a big inflammatory response my body put out around it! Was very glad it turned out to be no big deal.
Praying the same for you!

Did I mention how I adore my surgeon?? He was on vacation this week and I was scheduled with his "cover' guy. I walk in and he spotted me ...what he was doing at work on his week off....paperwork catch-up, he said. He recognized me right away and said he'd look at me.
He used the ultrasound and can't find anything.
He agrees there is something there and can be removed locally and he is almost afraid to say he thinks it is nothing (each time a doc told me it was nothing, things got worse...no cancer became cancer, .8cm became 1.8cm.....blah, blah...), but he moved it around and feels fairly confident it is nothing. CROSS FINGERS!! He said most gals would never find anything this small and close to a rib...I have sensitive fingers and good intuition Laughing .
I'm having it removed with local anesthetic on Wed. and will post back as soon as I know anything. God, I hope this is not a recurrence!!!

Good luck, will keep you in good thoughts and prayers that it's nothing more than a stitch or 'chicken fat' as someone was cut out of dh's breast!
Short story....Old doc.... numbed it, cut it out and threw it in the trash! Was 20 years ago, but dang, he was something else!

I had the lump removed today. Outpatient . Love my surgeon...he let me watch!!
He said it looks like chicken fat. He thinks it's either a lipoma or a fat necrosis, but they are sending it to the lab to make sure and should know by Friday.
If he has seen enough of these and there are no surprises, this is a non-event..YIPPPIE!
(I'll cross post this on hormone section)

He did say there were some "big cell changes" which are typical for healing. OYE how I hate the word "cell changes" but I triple asked him..."should I worry?" (he knows I'm a worrier and over thinker) and said NO!
April 4th will be 1 year NED if I don't worry myself to death
