It was harder for me to recover from my C-section than my mastectomy. I did not have reconstruction. I think that would have made the situation different.

I am having an excisional biopsy tomorrow for a fairly large mass not seen on mamagram but very clearly palpable. Can anyone please share your lumpectomy or surgical biopsy experiences. I had two csections and two shoulder surgeries any one hve a comparison of the pain and recovery time I can expect? Thanks in advance!

Ihad shoulder surgery 10 years ago and BMX in January. The BMX was less complicated and I did not need prescription painkillers. Good Luck. Wishes for a Speedy Recovery

Hi Courney
Biopsy was very easy. They sprayed my breast with something to kind of numb it and they did the needs that really numbed it. I was just sore in that one are for a few days but otherwise felt fine. I had a core needle biopsy. Good luck

I had a lumpectomy and to be honest it was not bad at all, Did not need prescription painkillers and was back at work within a week. Wore a comfy bra and clothing and they gave me an ice pack to use. One thing I did find helpful was to get seatbelt covers on line. Mine were soft and furry and they are a big help when driving while you are still tender. Wishing you the best of luck today with your surgery and for a quick recovery.

Thank you to everyone who responded. I read all the comments but was everything was so hectic I couldn't respond until now. My surgery went well. Not too much pain took the tylenol 3s for a day but switched to regular tylenol since yesterday. The bruising isn't too bad. I had a bit of bleeding that I can only asume came from my nipple as the steri strips didnt have new blood on them but haven't seen any more since. I aso noticed last night I have a bit of blood pooling under my breast not big about an inch or two. The incision was on the side of my nipple. I shouldn't worry about it or should I call my doctor. Also when should I expect my results the biopsy was friday afternoon stated at two and I left the OR at 4:30. Seems it took longer than expected. Thank you in advance!

Glad it all went well. I had some bleeding also after the biopsy so I think that is normal. You should have the results in at least 5 days but the Holidays may make it a little longer. Good luck and keep us posted.

No pain, worst part was the drain in my incision for three weeks. I learned to tuck it in my waist band and taught, hiked and did yoga with it and no one knew. But I was glad to get it out. I hope you get your results soon.

I would take excisional biopsy to be closer to a lumpectomy....no pain.
I don't know if it is skill of surgeons or personal pain thresholds. I had bilateral mastectomy and never took pain meds. Zero pain. Some tightness when the healing began, but zero pain.
Good luck for great results!

I got my pathology report of the 5.5x 4.0x 2.5 mass ad I can finally breathe again. It turned out to be PASH, FEA, adenosis, sclerosing adenosis, usual ductal hayperplasia and microscopic fibroadenoma. Also focal lactation like changes were observed. Any insights on what this means for my future risk?
