Hi all!

1. Anyone here from Broward County or Miami? I am looking for surgeon recommendations.

2. Did anyone just say "Let's do a full mastectomy"?

Thanks in advance.

Hi trishazma, I'd start by checking into NCI designated cancer centers in your area. NCI centers generally have better patient outcomes and are at the cutting edge of breast cancer treatment. Here is the locator: https://www.cancer.gov/research/infrastructure/cancer-centers/find

Also, as to whether or not to do a full mastectomy, that mostly depends on your unique cancer and risk situation. However, a good surgeon should present you will all of the medically safe options, and respect your decision. Sometimes a mastectomy is medically necessary, but sometimes it is not. You are the one who must live with the impact of the surgery, so it makes sense to get multiple opinions. Best wishes to you.
