What is the normal time frame for someone diagnosed with IDC Triple Negative breast cancer? I was diagnosed November 19 and my surgery is not scheduled until February 19. In this time I'm not doing chemo? Is this normal? I know we had the holidays thrown in but my anxiety is through the roof! ANY help is appreciated! Also, I'm stage 1.

Dx 11/19/2019, IDC, Left, <1cm, ER-/PR-, HER2- (FISH)

CSA,

Where do you live? Different countries may have different recommendations about standard protocol. And, yes, the Mods are right that waiting isn't necessarily dangerous. ((Hugs))

Thanks, CSA. You note that your cancer is smaller than 1 cm, so it's clear that you caught it early. You could check out other breast surgeons and see if they could do it earlier than February 19. Have you thought of that?

CSA, I know it’s really scary. I was diagnosed 11/30/18 and initially was told I’d be starting treatment prior to Christmas that year. I didn’t start active treatment until January - surgery then chemo then radiation. Getting multiple opinions was helpful to me. I had consultations with 2 surgeons and 2 oncologists.

There is no way around it, only through it! Dx 11/30/2018, IDC, Right, 1cm, Stage IB, Grade 3, 0/3 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- Surgery 1/8/2019 Lumpectomy: Right; Lymph node removal: Sentinel Chemotherapy 1/31/2019 AC + T (Taxol) Radiation Therapy 7/3/2019 Whole-breast: Breast

I'd get on the phone to some other reputable surgeons in your area and get scheduled more quickly if possible. Great you caught it early.

That is a very long wait - I’d a also suggest a second opinion and trying to schedule more quickly.
