I read the first article and loved it. I haven't had surgery yet (soon) and am still not totally sure if I will have uni or bi (an upcoming MRI will help me decide). Either way, I have no desire to have reconstruction or to wear fake boobs. Still, I do wonder if I only get one MX if being "lopsided" will bother me to the point of wearing something in public, just to avoid people noticing me. Then again, I don't wanna play that way. I've always been anti-beauty standards and F the patriarch, lol... I don't care when people appear to not like my wife and I holding hands, so I'm hoping to apply that same "it's your problem, not mine" attitude if I have uni.

Anyway, it's awesome you're concerned about and advocating for flat, it's inspiring. I imagine I'll be bombarded with suggestions for reconstruction the same way they push chemo and hormones (that I'll also refuse).

What a great article! When I was between tests, still not knowing, my first thought was take them both, no reconstruction! Now that surgery will be last, I'm still thinking that and love reading your journey. I suspect the doctors will recommend reconstruction, but I've had "these" since I was 10 and frankly I'm done with them. I can always wear a padded bra if I feel self conscious or to fill out a specific outfit.

Part of me worries how my kids will feel and I'm sure there will be times they will feel embarrassed but all kids feel embarrassed by their parents at one point. They are only 6 and are totally fine with my lack of hair plus we're in a very diverse neighborhood where almost anything and everything goes.

Right now, the only benefit i can see towards reconstruction is that they told me i would get a tummy tuck to create the skin graft. Having twins left me with lots of extra skin that would benefit from removal.

Anyway, thanks for this and the links in the article itself too. I wouldn't mind info about the LQBTQ FB community you mentioned above too please.
