I'm wondering if anyone else has this. I've been taking tamoxifen for 2 1/2 years and over the last couple months have been experiencing cramping and pressure in my lower belly. It varies betweeen cramps, burning/tingly sensation in my ovaries, and just a feeling of fullness.

I've had a transvaginal ultrasound where my one ovary looked fine but the other one couldn't be found (gyno says I have bowel issues??). Also had a uterine biopsy which showed a polyp but no cancer. My gyno says that tamoxifen doesn't cause pelvic pain and referred me back to my regular dr to fix my "bowel problem".

I do have a dr appointment but it isn't for a couple weeks and I am seriously stressed over this. I feel like I have all the symptoms for ovarian cancer but I'm hoping anyone else has had something like this and it's turned out to be tamoxifen side effects...

Nay84, somebody should post later, but i think Tamoxifen can cause pelvic pain. i have endometriosis and i cannot have Tamoxifen as it will aggravate the cysts.. i am not an OB but that is my understanding. instead of tamoxifen i am gonna get Lupron and aramidex..

thank you for replying! I've been searching this forum for others with the same symptoms but it seems like everyone has another health issue that is causing the pain. I hope you have better luck with your meds than me :

I finished 5 years on Tamoxifen recently. I had many gyn issues related to it. I had a lot of pelvic pain. I grew polyps. Every time I had the "saline ultra sound" they found polyps. I developed cysts on my ovaries, but they resolved spontaneously(I also have a history of cysts). Just when I thought i was finally menopausal, I'd get a period. As far as symptoms of ovarian cancer, they are vague, leaving me with little confidence that it would be discovered or considered in me even if I were to complain

When I stopped the Tamoxifen, these gyn issues stopped.

When I complained about SEs to my MO, he just reminded me I could stop at anytime.

I have the pelvic pressure too. My layman's reasoning in the thickening of the uterine wall. I already had an ooph, next week a hysterectomy. Too many biopsies, TVUs and other procedure. I'm over it.

One more year to five on T. My onc recommends ten. We'll see.

Yes, pelvic pain and pressure is a side effect of Tamoxifen. It's actually listed here: https://www.drugs.com/sfx/tamoxifen-side-effects.h...

I am so glad to stumble across this post. I started Tamoxifen several weeks ago and have experienced pelvic pain and pressure. It's not bad at all--mostly on the left side, and I usually only feel it when I'm walking--but I notice it and of course it has me freaking out a bit since I'm BRCA2+. I have an appointment for an exam with my OBGYN this week. I'm getting my ovaries removed in May.

Hi, I am so glad to read about this as it makes my pelvic pressure seem “not in my head”. I’ve been on Tamoxifen since December and have been experiencing very uncomfortable pelvic pressure for about a week. I guess I will call my oncologist on Monday. This is not something I want to have to just deal with. It’s too uncomfortable

Hi, I have been on Tomoxifen for a year and a half and have terrible pressure and pain in my ovaries. My GYN wants to do a uterine biopsy. The doctor that prescribed the Tomoxifen doesn't really follow me haven't seen them in over year. They don't seem to do full body scans for breast cancer the way they do for all the cancers. So I often feel like I'm left in the dark. I developed a frozen shoulder as a result of the partial mastectomy. I just haven't been the same since the diagnosis and treatment. Does anyone know if you still have to stay on tamoxifen if your ovaries are removed? Thank you for any info you may have about that

I've been on Tamox almost 6mths. I had a utlrasound when I started it. Have issues at times with the feeling of fullness, then sometimes its not so bad. I still get my period too. I just went to my gyn for 6mth check and he did another ultrasound. Said lining still looked good and a cyst on one ovary but otherwise ok.

@why2015. I would think if you do the ooph , throws you into menopause and you would be switched to an AI then.

Tamoxifen can also enlarge uterine fibroids, leading to pelvic pain. These would be seen on ultrasound.

My natural menopause was @10 yrs prior to dx, treatments. It was a piece of cake compared to the "bottle menopause"! As if that's not bad enough, when I started tamoxifen, w/in 4 days, I was having all those annoying pre-period symptoms I'd never thought I'd have to think about again. Really? Symptoms of menopause & pre-menstrual both at the same time??? Oy vey!
