I've also read that cruciferous veggies help but this is the first I've heard of Lima beans. Do they help stop all cancer or just BC? I checked Dr Oz's website but couldn't find anything. Maybe you can email asking for more info to substantiate the claim.

What I got out of it was that there was a researcher who has isolated things in certain foods that attack cancer. He showed four different foods that affected four different kinds of cancer.
The first one was breast cancer. He mentioned the ingredient - and unless I'm hallucinating - said it was like "breast cancer cells committee suicide" in the presence of this ingredient.
He said that if everyone ate 1 cup of lima beans per day, it could reduce the risk of breast cancer by 24%.
HOWEVER, there are also numerous sites that say lima beans increase proliferation of estrogen and progesterone positive breast cancer cells!
What are ya gonna do?
Fortunately, I love lima beans, with a big gob of butter on them!

2. Parsley- parsley starves ovarian cancer cells by cutting off the blood supply to the tumor. Eat 1 C chopped parsley per day. You can sprinkle it on rice and eggs. Store fresh parsley by cutting off the stem and placing them in water to keep it fresh. If you store it in the fridge, cover it with a plastic bag.
3. Limes- limes help fight lung cancer with a natural cancer fighter that stops the growth of cancer in its tracks. You can incorporate lime into your diet with lime juice. Slice a lime in half and squeeze out ½ C per day. Pour into cold water and create limeade. Put in a little honey and you have a delicious drink. You can also use lime instead of lemon in tea. Instead of adding salt to your food, squeeze on some lime.
4. Apricot- apricots reduce the risk of stomach cancer by 47 percent. Eat 7 dried or fresh apricots per day. If you go for dried, get the sundried and not sulfate dried. (the darker version). Also, buy organic apricots because they have higher levels of cancer fighters.

Blessings, I too saw those sites but there is good and bad estrogen right? Maybe this is the good estrogen?

Just remember what the numbers really mean. A 24% reduction is not overall, but from a woman's already pretty low chance of getting the disease...
Anyway, eating well is a good thing. And I love baby lima beans (not the big fat starchy ones!)

I guess like everything else regarding diet...you have to take the information and decide what will work for you. I'm not totally convinced that removing all estrogen and progestrone from our bodies is a good thing. IMO we need a natural balance to have a good supply of energy and a feeling of well being. Unfortunately my MO doesn't agree.

Heres my take on it- Everything you eat is going to have some study on it saying there are SE or should not be eaten if you are ER+, You have to worry and be cautious with everything we eat, first its good for you then its not. It is mind boggling/ I say eat everything in moderation and dont buy things that are grown outside of the US. I bought some oranges last week it wasnt until i got home that I saw a sticker on it that said from Africa, I couldnt believe it, we have fresh grown oranges here and are buying from across the globe!
IMO i think growing your own lima beans like APPLE said or buying right here in the usa just might be beneficial. Im going to investiage the growing them out of a bucket

Most fruits are imported. I was told bananas are not grown in the USA. The majority of US oranges were from Brazil until that fungus was exposed last month. Besides the pesticides they use in other countries, I wish I could find some original seeds. Most seeds now are GMO.
Debbie, did your orange have seeds inside? Mine don't.
