Hi All,

This is my first time posting here....I was diagnosed with TN, stage 2a/2b (micro single cells in couple of nodes, multifocal, largest 3.2cm) in Jan 2007. Since then I have gone through a mastectomy,  chemo (4 DD AC+Avastin, 4 DD Abraxane+Avastin), 28 radiations. Have had a couple of clean bone scans and a clean brain MRI since then.

Since past couple of days, I have little ache in my rib cage on surgery side....feeling a little nervous...it is not a constant ache and I feel that is has probably gone down a bit (but that could be my imagination). Feels more like it is the bone.....this morning I was sure it was gone only to realise a couple of hours later that it wasn't. I slept on hard floor the night before this started and my hubby thinks that might have caused it. I will wait a couple of more days and see if it goes away but feeling nervous....I am only 36yrs old with 2 kids 6 and 2 years old.

Just wanted to see if any one here had any positive or negative rib cage pain who would like to share it with me.

Also posted this on triple negative group.

Is the pain worst in the morning or at night? Does it hurt to cough? or deep breaths? cracking ribs after radiation is common.

i cannot tell the pain 95% of the time....only feel it few times a day and also first thing in the morning I feel it is gone completely only to realise by afternoon that it is there....dont feel a thing when I sleep.....

What do you mean by 'cracking' ribs? You mean breaking them? Shouldn't I be in a lot of pain if I did that?

I have heard of alot of people having rib pain after tx.  It could be healing from surgery/rads.

 Ren,

I just finished DD AC/Avastin (4 treatments) and doing Taxol (weekly) with Avastin every three weeks. I had the exact kind of rib pain and went thru the bone scan and later, CT scan. Both the reports were negative for cancer. The bone scan showed a spot which was 'non specific due to post surgical healing'. The CT scan was negative.

So, like LuAnnH wrote, it seems like rib pain is common after the treatments. It could be from the healing of the surgery site.

Take care,

Desi.

Just wanted to mention that I just had my onc appt last week and my CEA=1.7 and CA15-3=4. CA 15-3 has been constantly 3 or 4 and never more.....I know the markers are not indicative of any thing for some people but just wanted to mention that. Is it possible to have mets with such low numbers? That is really lowest end of the normal range?

I wanted to thank you all for the replies. It is gone...the rib cage pain is gone!.....I was going to call the Onc on Monday if I still had it. I am being very careful not to stretch or strain my right side.
