Like so many of us, chemo, hormones and surgery have made my marital relations very very painful. Since all this started my DH and I have tried a total of 4 times over 2 years. That is soo sad I know. But it was so very painful I bled for 2 days after try number 3. Then I decided I wanted to try again cause Im so crazy about this guy. We had a date night and I did two things that ended up making me feel like I was 21 again (or a newly wed or however you want to think about it).
1) Scream Cream (thanks K-Lo)
2) 5% Lidocaine Ointment.
The first brings blood to the area and hightens sensation like you cant believe. The second makes the tearing pain DISAPPEAR!!!!
To get scream cream I brought this page to my onc and he wrote the script and I paid about $30. The lidocaine was perscribed for my neuropathic feet so it was free/insurance.
I wish I could go back in time. I wish I could tell everybody who ever got chemo. I hope you try it if you have this problem.

Loriw - You should be able to get it from any pharmacy that does compounding. I bought it recently through Macdonald's Prescriptions in Vancouver at the cost of $40 for 15 gm.

Thanks for that info ....where can I get the full prescription of this SC ! The Oncologist is referring me to a Gyno now....a bit of a run around!

Loriw - See page 7 on this thread for the info posted by gentianviolet and suz45. The pertinent info starts off by saying, "Who can benefit from scream cream?" or something like that. I was going to post it directly for you but I'm having trouble copying and pasting with this laptop (pc girl who is mac illiterate). Any doc should be able to prescribe it to you. I asked my MO and a resident doc at my last appointment... they looked it up right on the spot (I verified that we were talking about the same ingredients) and they wrote out the script for "scream cream". The person at Macdonald's who I first spoke with wasn't aware of it, but I asked that they first ensure they had all the ingredients and give me an estimated cost before proceeding with the order. They seemed to have no problem looking up the 'recipe' and compounding it for me that afternoon.

Sneaky, Thanks so much! I was able to retrieve the info! Curious how much you were able to get and the cost! How was it dispensed!

$40 for 15 gm through Macdonald's. I'm not too sure what you mean with, "how it was dispensed." It's just cream in a small container, nothing unusual about it compared to other prescription creams in terms of appearance, container, etc. Does that answer your question, or am I misunderstanding your query?

Thank you, you answered my questions! I appreciate it! My investigation begins, hopefully there is someone in the medical field that can be of some assistance for me!

Hi Ladies,
Help! I'm going to the doctor today and the link that I found for the SC ingredients is no longer working. Does anybody have a link that works? Thank you.
