Hi all,

I very gratefully celebrated my 10 year cancerversary in January this year. My tumour was 11 mm in size, grade 3, with no lymph node involvement, HER2+, ER/PR- I was treated with surgery, chemo, radiation and Herceptin. Thankfully, I hardly think about it anymore, but I would like to have some idea of my recurrence risk now. Anybody got any idea?

Dx 1/13/2009, IDC, Right, 1cm, Stage IA, Grade 3, 0/5 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+

ruby - congrats on 10 years! Both hormone negative and Her2+ driven recurrence tends to happen earlier than 10 years, so that would seem to be currently in your favor. Have you tried the Predict 2.1 tool? It has 5,10 and 15 year recurrence stats and factors in treatment with Herceptin which some other calculators don’t do,here is a link:

Your cancer is most likely to recur in the first few years. It's very unlikely that it will come back now. Not totally impossible (nothing ever is), but very unlikely.

Hi Rubyluby,

Great name - my nickname is Ruby!

I was diagnosed with HER2+ breast cancer in June 2007. It's now 12 1/2 years since then.

I'm doing well. The longer we are out from the diagnosis is supposed to bring our chances of recurrence lower and lower.

Diagnosed June 2007, IDC, Grade 3, 4-5cm lump, several lymph nodes involved, HER2+++, 4 months of high strength chemo, mastectomy and lymph node removal, radiotherapy & a year of herceptin and recently had preventative surgery to other breast.
