wanted to share this compelling article about patients’ satisfaction in going flat. Interesting but not surprising that the women who were not happy did not feel their surgeons were supportive of their decision not to reconstruct. I was so lucky that my surgeon was not only completely supportive but did a beautiful aesthetic flat closure.

Really it makes sense. We all agonize over the reconstruction decision.
It only makes sense that most women are happy with their decisions. It is the same for implants I'd bet, where most women are happy with them, while a smaller portion wish they'd gotten a flap surgery or gone flat.
For me, this article reinforces the idea that women are able to think through their options and make a decision they can live with. This idea should make most women facing a mastectomy feel a bit more confidence in their decision.
Diagnosed at 42, Oncotype score 16, ITC in one node- considered node negative. Lost right implant to infection March 2020. Waiting to start reconstruction all over again.
