i found a lump in my right breast about 6 months ago! I do not have any insurance and have been planning on getting a mammogram with my tax return. Last week that same breast started to produce a discharge,it was a yellowish white and also is causing me pain. My nipple isnt quite inverted but I cannot pinch the nipple, gosh hard to explain,it's like my breast has swallowed the nipple. Also it is red and hotter than the rest of my body. Is this something I should go to the er for or wait until my taxes come?

Please don't wait. Here is a link where you can find out if you qualify for free breast cancer screening:

don't go to the ER, you need to see a breast specialist. click on the blue link "contact the program" and then click on the "search for free and low-cost screening in your state, tribe or territory". It will provide you with information regarding the phone number to call about eligibility and the address of the closest places you can get help. Once you determine your eligibility, call the facility and let them know you have an immediate concern and need their earliest appointment. If that doesn't seem soon enough, do you have a regular doctor who knows you? either primary care or ob/gyn?

also look for a planned parenthood in your area. They offer mammograms on a sliding scale or free for those who can't afford. I have used them before and they are great.
