Hi,
About a year ago I found a lump in my right breast. I had an ultrasound and learned that I have multiple masses and cyst in my right breast. They described them as BIRAD3 and recommend a follow up in 6 months. The follow up noted a size increase in some masses and a few new masses not previously seen. A dr called to discuss the results, said there is nothing to worry about, and mentioned I could elect to have an MRI. I obtained a copy of the report which stated “correlation with MRI is advised to further evaluate masses which have increased in size during interval.” Since I did not read the report prior to speaking with the Dr I did not ask him any questions. After reading the report I was confused by his language which suggested that an MRI was optional vs. the language in the report which sounds more like a strong recommendation. I’m currently waiting on a referral so I can schedule the MRI.
Since finding the lump last year, I’ve become more aware of my breast. I never used to do self exams but now I understand why they are encouraged. This week I noticed a dent in my left breast. It looks like a dent when standing and when I lay down it feels like a hole/gap. Yesterday, I noticed a lump near the dent. It has a weird shape that’s difficult to describe. The lump in my right breast feels like an oval. This one feels like an oval on one side and a raised ball on the other side, it’s uneven, but also small.
Since I am waiting to schedule an MRI I am not sure if it’s even worth mentioning. I also googled (probably shouldn’t have) but I am questioning if what I am seeing could be described as dimpling. I have no redness, no pain, no nipple discharge, and the skin does not look like an orange peel. Since none of those factors are present I was thinking this isn’t dimpling.
I am a military dependent, living in Guam, which can make scheduling a Dr appointment difficult. I don’t want to waste their time or seem crazy for mentioning something that could be normal.
Also, I am 35 so I think that may be considered “young”. I’ve breast feed 4 babies. I lost a 100 pounds between 2019-2021. And I am adopted so I do not know my family history. I mention this to provide context and because I was wondering if this could be a change related to weight loss.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
