A better reform, would break that link: traditional Medicare would also submit bids, the government would set payment levels equal to each county's lowest bid, and beneficiaries desiring a more expensive plan would have to pay the difference." Folks, these reforms are IDENTICAL to the reforms that Paul Ryan VP and Mitt Romney are proposing to preserve the life of Medicare for future generations. And, what do we get from Obama? Commercials of Paul Ryan pushing Grandma off a cliff. How sad and counterproductive.

Okay girls...this is really bugging me. I could SWEAR that I heard of a survivor in the Benghazi attack. It was only mentioned during the very initial reports. He supposedly sought refuge on the roof of the compound. But now I am not hearing anything about him. Did any of you girls hear about this? I am really curious.

There has been much discussion all over the political spectrum about "jounalistic integrity" and how it has been lacking in much of our news coverage from all sources in recent years.  This is how the Society of Professional Journalists defines that integrity.  I haven't seen nearly enough of this integrity from any news source lately, have you?

http://www.spj.org/ethicscode.asp

Seek Truth and Report It

Journalists should be honest, fair and courageous in gathering,  reporting and interpreting information.
Journalists should:

— Test the accuracy of information from all sources and exercise care to avoid  inadvertent error. Deliberate distortion is never permissible. — Diligently seek out subjects of news stories to give them the opportunity  to respond to allegations of wrongdoing. — Identify sources whenever feasible. The public is entitled to as much information  as possible on sources' reliability. — Always question sources’ motives before promising anonymity. Clarify  conditions attached to any promise made in exchange for information. Keep  promises. — Make certain that headlines, news teases and promotional material, photos,  video, audio, graphics, sound bites and quotations do not misrepresent. They  should not oversimplify or highlight incidents out of context. — Never distort the content of news photos or video. Image enhancement for  technical clarity is always permissible. Label montages and photo illustrations. — Avoid misleading re-enactments or staged news events. If re-enactment is  necessary to tell a story, label it. — Avoid undercover or other surreptitious methods of gathering information  except when traditional open methods will not yield information vital to the  public. Use of such methods should be explained as part of the story — Never plagiarize. — Tell the story of the diversity and magnitude of the human experience boldly,  even when it is unpopular to do so. — Examine their own cultural values and avoid imposing those values on others. — Avoid stereotyping by race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, geography,  sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance or social status. — Support the open exchange of views, even views they find repugnant. — Give voice to the voiceless; official and unofficial sources of information  can be equally valid. — Distinguish between advocacy and news reporting. Analysis and commentary  should be labeled and not misrepresent fact or context. — Distinguish news from advertising and shun hybrids that blur the lines between  the two. — Recognize a special obligation to ensure that the public's business is conducted  in the open and that government records are open to inspection.

Minimize Harm
Ethical journalists treat sources, subjects and colleagues as human beings deserving of respect.
Journalists should:
— Show compassion for those who may be affected adversely by news coverage.  Use special sensitivity when dealing with children and inexperienced sources  or subjects. — Be sensitive when seeking or using interviews or photographs of those affected  by tragedy or grief. — Recognize that gathering and reporting information may cause harm or discomfort.  Pursuit of the news is not a license for arrogance. — Recognize that private people have a greater right to control information  about themselves than do public officials and others who seek power, influence  or attention. Only an overriding public need can justify intrusion into anyone’s  privacy. — Show good taste. Avoid pandering to lurid curiosity. — Be cautious about identifying juvenile suspects or victims of sex crimes. — Be judicious about naming criminal suspects before the formal filing of  charges. — Balance a criminal suspect’s fair trial rights with the public’s  right to be informed.

Act Independently
Journalists should be free of obligation to any interest other  than the public's right to know.
Journalists should:
—Avoid conflicts of interest, real or perceived. — Remain free of associations and activities that may compromise integrity  or damage credibility. — Refuse gifts, favors, fees, free travel and special treatment, and shun  secondary employment, political involvement, public office and service in  community organizations if they compromise journalistic integrity. — Disclose unavoidable conflicts. — Be vigilant and courageous about holding those with power accountable. — Deny favored treatment to advertisers and special interests and resist

Be Accountable
Journalists are accountable to their readers, listeners, viewers  and each other.
Journalists should:
— Clarify and explain news coverage and invite dialogue with the public over  journalistic conduct. — Encourage the public to voice grievances against the news media. — Admit mistakes and correct them promptly. — Expose unethical practices of journalists and the news media. — Abide by the same high standards to which they hold others.
Until the time when someone comes up with a definitive "cure", we each have to cobble together what we believe will be the most effective treatment that we can live with, not merely survive.

Bret Baier has updated his Benghazi investigation.  I am going to watch it later.  It was on earlier but re-run a couple of more times.  I believe that's where I saw the reporting on the fella who went on the roof.

Jefferson County, CO - The woman named “Democrat of The Year” this year by the Jefferson County Democratic Party has been convicted of felony theft by a Jefferson County jury for stealing from a developmentally disabled 71-year-old woman.

“The jury did right,” said Cindy Maxwell, an advocate for the victim.

Hi Girls~I've been reading all the posts, just not posting. I'm trying to wean myself off the drugs, taking them just at bedtime or naptime. During the day I'm taking Tylenol.

Friends from church just brought our dinner. Steak, baked potato, salad, & rolls. It was scrumptious. This the fourth day in a row someone from church brought our dinner.
We have the most awesome church family. I'm going to do my very best to go to church in the morning. I'll go, and if its too much, we'll just leave early. Besides, I haven't been out the door since I left the hospital on Tuesday.

Have follow up appt with the BS on Tuesday. I'm a little apprehensive about the final path report.

Ohio is purple! Moving towards red.

Carol, where in southeastern N.C. do you live?

I want to tell you about a woman in Alaska who is struggling.  She fled from domestic abuse, staying in shelters for many months.  She got out of that shelter, thanks to Section 8 housing help and is looking for a job.  Her oldest child is severly disabled by an autism spectrem disorder.  She got help for her daughter through goverment programs. I don't know if you are insinuating that the government under President Mitt Romney would leave women and children in the cold.  He is not a cold hearted man.  Do some research and you'll understand.  He will not brag about the things he has done in his life.  Is he prefect?  No.

I am quite tired of hearing the democrats trying to scare women.  No one is taking us back to the stone ages.  One would only have to move to one of the Middle Eastern countries to have that happen.  Democrats are quite tolerant when it comes to accepting the radical Islamists.

No one is going to close down Domestic Violence Shelters or take away the ability to obtain a restraining order which, in most cases. does nothing for the woman.  Shelters are essential for women who are in a violent relationship.  I would think that would also extend to lesbians who are in an abusive relationship.  Also, women in violent relationships need prepare to leave safely by saving money, etc.

The Democrats are trying to scare women saying that these disabled children will have to "fend" for themselves.  That is a lie.  I've turned on other cable channel "news" and have been appalled at their reporting.  They are trying to scare women into thinking abortions will be outlawed.  I do not agree with having abortions, but I can guarantee women that Roe vs. Wade (which was a scam in the first place) will not be thrown out.  It would take an act of Congress to do that.  Now, if Obama wants something done that Congress will not pass, he'll find a way to go around Congress and sign an EO.  He is the most divisive POTUS that I've ever seen.

I am an NC lawyer, and I applaud your daughter's success.

How do you know who my DD is and what she does for a living?  I applaud her as well.  The "government didn't build her".  We gave her the tools and education and she built the foundation to her success.
