The WINS study (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17179478) found a significant reduction in recurrence of breast cancer among women who greatly reduced their dietary fat intake (from ~51 grams/day pre-trial to ~33 grams/day). We are on a "pesco vegan" diet (fish, shellfish and vegetarian, but no meats or dairy products). Even on this diet, it is a challenge getting adequate calories/protein intake and satisfying variation while staying at 30 grams of fat a day. The women in this study achieved the target fat consumption and kept it up through a 5 year clinical trial (go girls!) so I am curious, what were the actual foods that they were eating? Are the recipes and dietary counseling notes used in this trial available someplace on the Interent?
