I use a protein shake named Naturade Vegansmart, it is soy and gluten free, but it does have some sugar in it.

I don't have it for weight loss, but for nutrition. I love it for breakfast with some fruit in it and some powdered maxi greens. I usually have it in Almond milk.

thanks for asking this question & there being a response.  I was on a diet program prior to being tx for breast cancer and part of it was protein shakes (dairy free) 3 x day.  I haven't been able to figure out soy free so this is helpful because I want to get back on the wagon.

Thanks - Patty

Hi Sunnygirl, I am glad you find this helpful. I changed to this formula from the other Naturade protein drink which is Soy based. My Surgeon told me I could still have Soy, but I have cut right back and I don't eat any dairy products.

There are many good protein drinks for dieting, which contain Whey Protein, I have never tried any of them, but I know people who have and they've had very good results.

I am a real devotee of Pro Biotics too and add freeze dried greens, or a Pro Biotic liquid with culture in them. Green Vibrance is one that I especially like.

I use Premier Protein shakes.  They are gluten and soy free. They have 30 grams of protein, I gram of sugar and 160 calories. Ive drank them for a couple of years now and the chocolate is my favorite.  They also have bars but I'm not to crazy about those.   The cheapest place I've found to get them is Sams Club and Costco.

The Vanilla Bean by Plant Fusion is awesome and I made a discovery that ended my OCD over getting protein post surgery on a vegan diet. Plant Fusion lists all of the amino acids and you basically get 100% of all of the essential amino acids in one serving. So.....I don't need to eat animals to get my protein. I could never put enough beans, nuts, etc together to get enough and now can't eat soy so glad I found this powder.

You can get Plant Fusion and the one I use Vegansmart, which is similar, from iherb. I guess there are probably plenty of places to get it in the US, I buy a lot from iHerb and have it sent to Australia. They have a great range of protein drinks with all the ingredients listed, so you can choose one that's right for you. It used to be really difficult to get a dairy and soy free protein drink, but recently it has opened up and there are more and more coming onto the market.

You're welcome Lee, they do great prices, have a huge range and I can have several tubs sent to Australia for about $8.00 and it lands here in regional Victoria in 4 days. The difference in price between the two countries is unbelievable. The tub I buy for about $25.00 is about $60.00 here, so no way am I buying in Aus.

I just had a delivery of my Vegansmart last week, but next time I am going to try the Vanilla Bean too.

I buy all my organic soaps and shampoos form there too, great selection and price.

hey, here's my review on the vanilla bean flavor. I really think it needs to get mixed with other things besides just water which it says to use in the directions.  It's too thin and chalky like that.   I'm going to try it in a shake with almond milk instead of the water and maybe some frozen berries like SpecialK suggests.  I am thrilled to find something without soy.   It arrived really fast. I like that website !

Lee, I don't know if that one, is the same as the Vegansmart that I have, but I always have mine with almond or rice milk a banana, some maxi greens and sometimes a handful of berries, then I blast it all in the Vitamix blender. It comes out very creamy and I top it with ground nutmeg or Cinnamon.

I have also occasionally use a different fruit, like a peach and blend it up with some coconut yogurt. The blender makes everything very creamy.

Hi glennie, It is a fermented powder of Spirulina and lots of other pulses and green veg with pro- biotics. I like this one which is made here, but I also have one I buy from iHerb called Green Vibrance, similar, but a bit different. I have been taking the Maxi Greens for many years because it is supposed to help as an anti inflammatory. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoporosis, so I do what I can to reduce inflammation and get as much Calcium and Magnesium from food source as is possible. I haven't eaten Dairy since I was in my 30's. I was a -3 for Osteoporosis in 2000 and it hasn't decreased any further, in fact it is slightly better.

I am a big believer in Pro Biotics because after taking all the meds( steroids and chemo drug Methatrexate) for the Rheumatoid for so many years, my stomach was shot and I had ulcers. I have improved so much since taking the Pro Biotics every day.

Heavy metals in rice protein products to be strictly limited thanks to history-making agreement

I also avoid rice protein based products due to possible heavy metal or lead contaminants.  My understanding is the rice source from China has many pollutants from contaminated water there.  So I stick with products with ingredients grown in the USA and organic.
