I just finished chemotherapy, and ready to do radiation and be done with all this. Had MRI and the involved side looks fine but the other side has a small area that needs a biopsy. So the goalposts have moved again…I’m trying not to freak out but it’s a bit scary that this formed and grew while I was on chemo. Has this happened to anyone else

Hi, yes, I needed a stereotactic biopsy on my R side when I was still doing chemo for the cancer which had been surgically removed from my L. All I can say is that once you have cancer, their threshold for investigating any wonkiness drops really low so things that might have been just left as a "watch & monitor" will all trigger a "let's biopsy to make sure".

Mine turned out to be benign calcifications. Hope the same for you!!!

I’m going through the same thing, and the biopsy on my “good” side came back as LCIS. I’m looking at a mastectomy once I finish chemo - probably in November. Based on my history, one of the doctors told me to be mentally prepared in case they find an invasive component in the surgical pathology. Yeah, I no longer trust them when they say “That’s probably benign” before actual results are back.

Hope you get better results.

Thank you moth for your answer. I’m sorry for the journey you’ve had to become wise ( I’ve seen other insightful posts), but your wisdom is really helping others. I’ll wait and see what happens at the mammogram in a few days

Had the mammogram today, the person there wasn’t concerned by what she saw but said an MRI guided biopsy would be good to have a better look. I had a stereotactic biopsy before is MRI guided less painful?
