Hi All,

If you PLCIS was discovered after biopsy or lumpectomy, how was it handled? Further excision for clear margins of 2mm? Lumpectomy? Surveillance? BMX?

so I had what was debated LCIS/PLCIS. I still don’t have a clear answer because pathologist could not agree (at two major cancer centers). We know the cells looked larger and more irregular than LCIS, but not quite PLCIS. Knowing the stats being 50% chance of invasive with PLCIS, and given my age, only 35, I opted For a double mastectomy and just had my reconstruction in September. I have been thrilled thus far and took my chances down 1%. Every course of action is highly personal so it all comes down to what you are comfortable with, But with PLCIS the standard course of action would certainly include radiation and drugs

Dx 4/12/2018, LCIS, Right, <1cm Surgery 5/20/2018 Prophylactic mastectomy: Left, Right; Reconstruction (left): Fat grafting, Silicone implant, Tissue expander placement; Reconstruction (right): Fat grafting, Silicone implant, Tissue expander placement

wow plcis is so rare. Mine was discovered after a surgical biopsy and that put me over the edge. I just did not like 'aggressive." I opted for a PBM which I know is extreme, but they ended up finding invasive. So my instincts were right.

I don't know if 8 years later (I cannot believe it's been that long!) there's more info on plcis than what I had to go on, but in my gut, I just did not like pleomorphic. I took a year to be sure of my decision, and I'm comfortable with it.

Good luck. It's deeply personal and there's no right or wrong. It's your choice and yours alone
