Ugh! I developed a nasty case of bronchitis. I forced myself to eat some soup, but everything tases awful. My voice is already coming back, so I'm hopeful this will pass quickly.

Looks like I forgot to hit Post again:
Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Monday Monkey Day! And Happy Columbus/Indigenous American Day! I took Colt to visit Mom on Saturday and he was quite the hit with Mom and the staff and some of the other residents. He had a grand time getting all sorts of attention and treats and about half of Mom's lunch. Zoe gave me a scare on Friday. I woke up from a nap, found the kitchen door standing open, and no Zoe in site anywhere. All I could think of was she was getting into the neighbor's chicken coup again, but headed straight there, but the neighbors don't have chickens anymore! A relief for me on that account, but the half hour it took to find her was not fun.
Carole--having the trailer come unhitched must have been really frightening! Thank God the safety chain worked. I'd be worried for the rest of the drive, too. Finding the buckled floor must have been disappointing, at least. Hopefully the problem can be found quickly and fixed easily. Will the whole floor need to be replaced or just the affected boards? I envy people who can hit the ground running after a long trip or really busy day. I need recovery time between things like that, now more than I ever did when I was younger.
Teka--beautiful pic!
mOmmy--that arthritis and swelling sounds like my knees!
Carole--The brandy sounds good, but the Irish cream sounds yummier!
mOmmy--I bet your Aunt will love that book!
Teka--if only we could.
mOmmy--how irritating to have the lights not function after all that work!

Monkeyed with the second set of pumpkin lights and got them working again. Got some solar lights in addition at the dollar store and added them to the display. But i bought a set of solar skeleton lights off ebay. Waiting for them to arrive and they'll be set up too.
Had a minor wardrobe malfunction today, went to put on one of my pair of jeans that were 15 years old and had a small hole in one knee and the seat of the jeans let go. I was bawling as they were my favorite comfy pair. Hubby told me to throw on some pants so we could go pick up a few things from Walmart we needed. No sooner did we get in the store than my hubby decided we needed to look at some pants. I wasnt going to buy anything but what we really needed, he picked up a pair of Levi's and dropped them in my arms and told me to find a fitting room and try them on. I practically bawled in the fitting room that they fit perfectly. I came out and told him to put them back, i really didnt need them and i was not going to pay nearly $30 for a pair of jeans. He point blank said 'too bad, I'm getting them for you!' and put them in the cart. So needless to say I got put in my place over this. They are my first pair of Levi's ever! Growing up, my parents couldn't afford name brand and I got thrift store finds for clothing. Got teased in school because I had to grow up not having what others did.
Already wrapped up the book for my aunt.

I'm still doing the boxed red wine. Waiting for lab results to trickle in and it is very unsettling. First time for labs and results without my sweet husband. My brain/heart can't figure out if I am grieving, terrified, or all of the above. And there's more paperwork to switch things from DH's name….seems it will never end. I did get some labs in and grateful my liver is handling my wine consumption for now. 😊

"Growing up, my parents couldn't afford name brand and I got thrift store finds for clothing."
For us, it was the Sears clearance store. But now, my kids enjoy finding treasures in thrift stores nearby. Culturally, a lot of the Recycle-Reuse-Repurpose trend has embraced thrifting. I think this is a great thing in reaction to aggressive consumerism and fast fashion.2 -
Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Twofer Tuesday! It's been busy here lately. I've had a couple of roofers in for estimates on roof replacement, picked the offer I want and am meeting the contractor tomorrow to choose shingle colors, make the downpayment and get an idea of scheduling. Had the electrician in, got the water pump running again (ah, the luxury of running water!), and he's coming back Friday to inspect the whole house and get electricity going to the laundry room again and find out what else needs doing to this old house. Had the plumber in to check on a leak that turned out to not be a plumbing leak, but a leak from a part of the dishwasher, so next to make is an appliance repair appointment. Haven't had this many people in my house for years! The puppers are not happy with all this, they do not like being relegated to the bedroom while workers are here, but it prevents escapes and other drama, so I make them cope.
Wally--waiting for lab and test results is the pitts. I'm not sure if it's worse to see them come in as they are done or waiting to get them all at once. I can imagine it's really anxiety creating for you this time around. Glad to her the liver is doing well for now. I can't imagine the paperwork burden after DH's death considering the paperwork burden I have for Mom now. Hugs.
Miriandra--I remember Sears clearance, and Freeze's sales, and discount stores at school shopping time, too.
Jazzy--the pics from the Botanical Garden are glorious! Fall flowers are so pretty, sometimes I like them more than summer flowers.
mOmmy--Glad you got the pumpkin lights going again. Quite the wardrobe malfunction you had! And good for DH putting you in your place over the new jeans! Just think, if an off brand pair of jeans lasted you 15 years, a quality brand like Levi's will last you for 30! That's like a dollar a year, doesn't get much cheaper than that!
