It's Saturday and we didn't get up early to hurry off to set up for the farmers market! I have a grocery list and plan to go into town and visit our friends Ron and Judy at the market. I hope they do well as vendors in the final Saturday. I was ready for our participation in the market to end.
It's not cold this morning, in the 50's, but is cloudy.

I've had a busy week and decided to forgo golf for a sleep-in. Seems we can only get a very early or mid-day tee time on weekends right now. I'm not a morning person and it's still too hot to play at noon. My political group had 2 weeks to do 5000 write "get out the vote" postcards. I took 540 and farmed them out to friends but of course then had to go pick them up. Dentist appointment, Bella's grooming, 3 days of bridge, etc. Thursday a dear friend who is visiting from London and I went to see "Les Miserables". Great production and really fun catching up. We'll see if I am successful at posting a pic. I'm starting to feel like the oldest one on this thread and I am technologically challenged.

shrinkrap59, welcome to this forum. I am one of the gardeners and consider weeding and mulching to be my therapy. There are others that share my passion, too. Hopefully you will continue to chime in and ask for any assistance as needed. We've all had different treatments, so there is a wealth of knowledge here.
carole, is this the last market weekend for your DH? When do you leave for home>
taco1946, Les Miz is one of my favorite musicals and I most enjoyed seeing it several times in London because the stage is lower than the audience so you can see more of what is occurring and not just a bunch of legs and feet. I also watch some of the taped shows from Royal Albert Hall on Youtube with the original casts. Hope you enjoyed it.
The weather has been cooler with varying humidity levels and today was probably the highest this week. My neck has been bothering me so I have been babying it and my back is quiet for the moment. I am avoiding any repetitive motion chores so ironing and vacuuming are long overdue. I wish I could convince the critters to not moult or shed, but no such luck. I still brush Misty because she is such a shed machine and getting hairball patrol is not fun.
I am plugging away on the counted cross-stitch after a few days off due to neck. I am currently trying to decide what section to try to complete next. With all the various pale pinks and blues with some so close to white it makes doing this at night a real challenge for these old eyes. It is slow going because I am trying not to have to rip out stitches. I worked for a few hours this afternoon and in terms of looking like I made a dent, I'd have to say decidedly "no".
Think I'll dust tonight and then take the evening off. DH has been enclosing the last flower bed fence and just needs to complete adding the last sections of fencing. We discussed where I need access to be able to tend this bed and decided on 2 points of entry. He may be able to finish tomorrow if the rain holds off until later in the day.

Taco, your picture came thru. Glad you were able to attend Les Miz with a friend.
We went to the baseball game last night. It’s in the new stadium with AC. The AC part is a blessing but I think the old stadium holds more personality.
Some new fan escapades is for the group to take their shirt off and spin it around over their head. This started out with one guy and 4 kids. And more & more joined the group. Our grandsons were giggling away watching this take place. When my SO & FIL got up to use the restroom, the row behind us all thought they were going to take off their shirt. Nope.
It was a great time. But it’s a good hour away, so a long drive to & from.
It’s been “cooler” 90 tonight around 7 pm as we went in the pool again. We’re thinking we’ll be extra cold when we get home, as it was 59 there at the same time.
I’m hoping to buy a sweatshirt at the airport on the way home. Fingers crossed.Tomorrow is a rest day, I think; Monday we pack for the hotel, drop off luggage and head to hockey. Flight home is Tuesday.

Betrayal, last Saturday was our last farmers market in 2026. I dropped by yesterday to visit our friends Judy and Ron. They had had only one small sale. It was a cool, gray day and the crowd of shoppers was small. I was glad we skipped the final Saturday.

Overcast and rainy today. Whoke week is to be rain in forecast which we need.
Was able to vacuum today. Did family room rug and swiffered wood floor. Ran vacuum in foyer, kitchen areas, laundry and powder room. Doing some dusting, just need to finish family room. Back okay today after about 10 days of bothering me. Neck still an issue.
Had pulmonary appointment on Thursday. Pulmonologist changed inhaler due to intolerable side effects of first one. He gave me a 2 week sample of new one and if course, CVS can't fill prescription because they don't have it in stock. They are ordering it.
No working on counted cross-stitch today. House came first.
Tomorrow I have pain management in am and lymphedema PT in pm. Time spacing worked out.

Betrayal - I found a neck light on Amazon that I wear when reading a book at night. Recharable and 3 strengths. If you can't find it, I'll try to find it in my back orders. I've had it for a couple years. I also had an Ott light when I was needlepointing. Hope you can find one or the other to help with your evening stitching.
This has been a lazy weekend - badly needed.

It has been rough couple of days. My DN's SO passed away suddenly on Friday morning. My sister-in-law's mother passed this morning. My BFF's So's sister did too.
My Florida house is still on the market.

I am 76 and was diagnosed with stage 1,HER2 positive BC last November, had a lumpectomy in Feb and then started chemo (12 rounds of weekly taxol and herceptin) followed by 15 radiation treatments. Now just doing a herceptin injection every 21 days until April, 2027. The oncologist suggest I do an ACE inhibitor, but i told them If it comes back it comes back and I don’t want to be sick for 5 more years. The side effects I have read about and people I have talked to have had such bad side effects especially the join pain. Is someone taking them without horrible side effects?

Golfinggal189, welcome to the club no one wants to join. I think your doctor wants you to take an aromatase inhibitor, referred to as an AI. Side effects can be experienced with any prescription or over the counter drug, and are sometimes individualized. With AI's there are 3 different ones, so a bad reaction with SE's, can be resolved by switching to another.
BC can be hormone dependent and this is what your oncologist is trying to control with the AI's. You need to have a discussion with them about the risk of recurrence, have you had the test which determines your risk? Explore all your treatment options including the use of AI'S before making a final decision.
I had experience with all 3. Two in the first 2 years and a half with SE's and took the 3rd one for the last of 7 years of use with minimal issues. I have no regrets and wanted to do all I could to prevent recurrence. Good luck.

@golfinggal189 Welcome to our little group. I echo what Betrayal said. The AI helps control the hormones the tumors use as food and you can find one with minimal side effects. But I understand you want to make your own decision at this point. We are all rooting for you whatever you decide with some of us adding prayers.

We’re at the airport. We took the shuttle from the airport at 6 AM; alarm got us up at 5:15. Rush around and now the flight is delayed. I went to ask about missing our connection. As luck was with us, the pilots flying this flight are flying our connecting flight. So we’re good.Last nights hockey game was a lot of fun. We met up with FIL and ate dinner at a place nearby the arena so it was close enough to walk over.
It’s still hotter than blazes, but boy oh boy - for a sports fan there are plenty of sports to see here. We’ll be back after the newest grandbaby is 3-4 months old; January or February.

I got busy this afternoon on some house projects due to rainy weather. Tidied up, got out the fall table runners and some glass pumpkins.
The bouquets I bought last week can be dried so I drained the vases, washed them and the flower stems, picked off any leaves and those flowers that could be dried were placed back into empty vases. I'll see how successful this is and toss any that don't make it.
Took Uno, my parakeet, to the vet to get her bill trimmed. It looks like whomever did it today actually did a good trim. She got loose when we tried to return her to the cage. She was flying around, crashing into things and I was afraid she would get hurt. I finally cornered her in the powder room and she clamped onto my finger for dear life. I finally got her off when I got to her cage. She can bite!
Got a package ready to ship so I can take it to FedEx tomorrow.
I bought a new wreath for my front door last week. It is a fall theme so I held off on putting it out until today. This week is to be stormy so I'll wait until it clears to hang it. I will hang my fall flag though.
New inhaler still causing raspy voice. So far it hasn't caused sore throat, so I hope raspiness will subside.
Reorganized and decluttered some shelves in bathroom closet. Didn't toss as much as I thought I would though. But organization made me aware of what I have to use or toss in future.
Learned of the death of a childhood friend. My parents were friends with his family so we spent time at their house. They had a grapevine on their trellis. I can remember eating those grapes when they ripened. They were so good. I went to school with his cousin.

We got our golf cart back yesterday from the small engine repair man, Tim. The only thing wrong with it was a need for adjusting valves. He got around to repairs sooner than we had been led to expect, and the bill was $104.50. Totally acceptable. One small problem. He lost the key. DH had to drive back to the campground, get a spare key and drive back to the repair place. Messed up our dinner schedule, but today dh has his cart for Wednesday men's golf. He's happy. It's good to have a golf cart repair person. Even if he isn't dependable with keys. LOL.
I played 9 holes of golf yesterday with Linda, our women's league "leader." It was a very nice day to be out on the golf course, which is beautiful with the developing leaf color. It may be my last golf at Eagle View for 2026. Depends on weather and whether I can pry dh away from MN. It's looking like some rainy weather coming up.
I plan to go to the gym today and then to Hugo's Supermarket with a list.

Welcome to all the new people. I don't post that often, but I read almost daily.
I had an excellent online conversation with the oldest sister of my deceased best friend the other day. Reminiscing, and sharing about family issues that neither of us would have known about growing up.
Golfingal, I would have taken the hormone suppressants if it would have helped. So glad I could dispense with radiation. Small city, no radiation available at that time, many trips to La Crosse, nope. But the DCIS was huge by the time of surgery, so I couldn't change my mind about lumpectomy vs mastectomy. Welcome to the HER+ club. Make sure they watch your heart closely; that is obviously a severe side effect of Herceptin.
Petite, I am so truly sorry for the sudden deaths of some people close to you. Pure coincidence? Hope you get your house sold soon.
Carole, it is sort of sad packing up, saying goodbye to your friends at the camp and farmer's market at the end of the summer. Tippy is mourning. We are having little conversations about it. "Soon it will be cold cold." (He is my dog and he has buttons).
Betrayal, that is a very challenging cross-stitch project!
Tippy's groomer is off on maternity leave. I learned how to trim his bangs and do the sanitary shave. He is so itchy, though. I got him some chews. Hope they will help. We are having pee problems. I just bought him some bellybands. This is going to be a major fight.
I just ordered beet extract capsules. I was also told to visit with my doctor about it. If switching from atorvastatin and lisinopril will give me more stamina and energy, I am all for it. There are days when I can't do much. I hope it works.
Going to drop off what bags on me and buy some replacement pants at Goodwill later this week.
Attitude of gratitude. I am getting into making tofu.
I have also been writing lately. More cutting than writing. I tend to make things too complicated.

When shopping at TJMaxx met a woman with a 7 year old pudgy pug in a dog carriage. Dog was really cute and the owner said she was looking to find rescue another. I told her my niece volunteered at a rescue and I could see if she knew of any available. Before I could reach out to her, DD told me about 2 pug pups available at a rescue near where this woman lived. I had the woman's name and phone number so I texted her all the details and told her to reach out. She got back to me thanking me for the info. I hope she'll let me know if she adopts one.
Took a package to FedEx and must say, my experience was not positive. Where I was returning the item insisted I watch all packaging and obtain a receipt. I boxed it myself and had reprinted the label. I needed to attach it to the box and asked if tape was available? She informed me the label had to go into a sleeve and then attached to the box. She gave me the receipt, but then tossed the box on a table with the sleeve and label not attached. The label was not yet in the sleeve so I asked her to please put the label in the sleeve and attach both to the box while I watched. She was not a happy camper as evidenced by the body language and box handling. She did it, I thanked her again and left. FedEx has left my packages on my lawn or abandoned roadside near the mailbox so I do not totally trust them. I was concerned when she didn't place the label and attach the sleeve immediately and have no idea what was more important since I was the only one in the store.

Carole, leaving your summer home must arouse some poignant memories with leaving friends and familiar sights.

golfing gal - welcome. I too am a golfer, one of only a few. I was also triple positive. As others have said, whether your take AI's is your decision. I suspect the folks who are having trouble post the most. On the other hand, I quit in year 3 after trying all 3 and am not sorry. Even at 70, quality of life was a major influencer. I certainly wouldn't take them again at 80. There are predictor models that take into account your age and diagnosis which might influence your decision. Another factor for me was that the women in my family tend to get dementia and I don't want to die like my mother did.
Petite, so sorry for your losses.
DH is 83 today - a minor miracle given his family history of heart disease. Strides in medicine are amazing! On the other hand, he is definitely failing, both physically and mentally. I don't think he has felt "good" for a long time. I'm so glad I did the book.
Cindy, are you headed back to Florida or going somewhere that I have missed?

Taco, we’ll leave for Florida the day after Election Day, 11/4 this year. I just looked at the calendar to check, we’re here for another 6 weeks.
Betrayal, you may have saved some pups! I hope the woman gets one of those rescues.
Carole, oh the joys of closing up to leave! Our weather here has been cold overnight. Days, if sunny, are good; 68 today.
The trip home from Texas was crazy. We got to the airport to find our flight had been delayed, 8:25 was now 9:05. We’d miss our connecting flight. The pilots were not the same flying both flights; original info was false.
Then my SO received a text that we’d been rebooked on a 7:40 flight, arriving 9:05 PM; vs booked arriving at 2:20 PM. As soon as we arrived at Baltimore I went to the desk to see about getting put on standby; which we were allowed but no seat assignments.Another text showed up with a $30 meal voucher. So we did get to enjoy a nice hot meal while we waited, partially paid by them. Then back to the desk to see if any seat assignments were available. At 3:15 they got us seats, not together but I told her we didn’t care as long as we were on the flight.
We landed at home airport about 5:50. SO worked there after he retired while I was still working, so we spent more time than I’d have liked to talking with his past coworkers. We got home after 7 PM. Long day.
This morning I had the alarm set for 8 because the driveway was finally getting sealed. It was 51 out and I was absolutely cold - vs Texas 85. Hard temperature change getting out of my warm robe into cold clothes. The seal coating guys (3) got here and wasted no time getting busy. Weed whacked edging, and all cracks; blower going to get everything off the driveway, and they were pouring the coating. I think in 30 minutes they were done. I checked it out and paid them, and added in a tip. So I can finally check that off my “to do” list!Nothing on the schedule for tomorrow. I haven’t heard from the handyman. And rain is predicted for Saturday & Sunday; no outdoor staining going to happen. I want to check that off my “to do” list too.
