Best wishes for your revision surgery, mcbaker. I hope all goes smoothly, especially recovery.

RE: breast cancer — I'm 10 years out and just had another clean mammogram; thanks be to God!

Opening up just a little bit on the side, which has not experienced any incisions. Removing it, inserting smaller one, then reshaping skin. New tat later. Right now, looking down I see it more as a rectangle than a cone.

I was thinking of going flat on that side because I am 75 and celibate and have no interest (other than a bit of fantasy occasionally) in marriage. However, but my cousin did not have the choice, and she says that when she lifts her arms, her bra hikes up, and her foob goes with it.

I'd like to ask for prayers. My last Enhertu treatment was Dec 17. Treatment was stopped Jan 07 d/t liver progression and early lung side-effects. I wasn't ready to make a decision about next chemo, so on Jan 21 my MO ordered a 4 week "Pause" - no treatment. I need to make a decision to start chemo (probably Doxil) or hospice. I've started to have liver pain and have fears about the chemo. I'd like to reach my 29th wedding anniversary Jun 2 and would like more time to work on my genealogy projects. My husband is at my side, but I'm the only Catholic and only believer in my family. I do have strong Catholic and protestant friends and have had sacrament of the sick. I'd like to ask for your prayers too.

Wendy Offering up prayers as you navigate a very difficult decision. Sending strength and peaceful wishes to you.

  • Apologies for not being able to jump on here sooner (I sound like a broken record.) 😔

Mary, is your surgery next week? How are you feeling about it? Hopefully eager to get it done and behind you!

Wendy, you are in my prayers. I would think that would be such a difficult decision to make, but then again, I trust the Holy Spirit will lead you to the right decision at the right time and fill you with His peace either way.

If anyone sees this before tomorrow morning, please know I'd appreciate prayers for my husband who has a job interview tomorrow morning. Thankfully he is employed, but unfortunately his job has kept us geographically separated for 2 years. This position would put us and our children closer together.

For anyone wondering, Lent begins 3 wks from tomorrow.

May God bless you all with sweet dreams and a restful night's sleep tonight.

So your name is Kim, Redemptive? I pray that your husband got that job. Couples belong together. I remember my days of chasing a career— loneliness and despair deepening with each move.

I have a colonoscopy on Feb 25, then the revision on Mar 12. Will be glad to get both of those done. I am having problems with arthritis in my right thumb, abut cant have a cortisone shot in it until I have pretty much healed from the foob reduction. Making do with arthritis formula tylenol, lidocaine patches, and now trying bufferin (I have a scar in my stomach that busts loose at the slightest provocation).

  • Thank you, Wendy and Mary! My husband said the interview went well, but the panel members appeared to be going through the motions, so he's not overly optimistic.

The reason we're apart is directly related to my cancer recurrence. In Feb. of '23 my husband moved to GA for a new job from our home in MI. The plan was for the kids and I to join him that summer once they were out of school. The following week I received my recurrence diagnosis. Still planned to move, but then treatments got delayed, etc … then my husband decided he didn't like GA and has since been trying to get back to MI - or find a place we would all like. He's a federal employee less than a year from retirement, so he can't just quit. (He could, but it wouldn't be the best financial move.) I agree it would be best for us to be together … this has been challenging, to say the least.

Mary, I hope the mild pain meds are helping your thumb. That seems like a long time to have to wait for real relief. I had DIEP flap in '21 and am long overdue for part 2/the revision, but have had my fill of surgeries for awhile.

Wendy, how have you been feeling? Have you been able to work on your genealogy? Have you made some fascinating discoveries involving your family? I think that would be a fun and fulfilling hobby!

    Blessings,
    ~ Kim (yes, that's my name :-) )

  • Prayers for a meaningful Lent for all here.

  • I'm not sure if anyone is still checking this thread, but thought I'd check in and see how folks are doing/how Lent is going.

Wendy, if you read this, know I'm continuing to pray for you. Do you mind me asking about the decision you finally made? It couldn't have been an easy one to make either way.

Mary, how did your surgery go? I hope the recovery has been a smooth one and that your colonoscopy turned out OK and your thumb is better.

Thanks for the interest. I went in for the colonoscopy, told the nurse that I didn't think I was clean enough, she took a look and agreed with me. She sent me home with another jug, and I got a friend to take me to the city the next day. Only two tiny ones, so I think I am done with that.

He gave me a cortisone injection as soon as I was under. It is much better done this way, and it won't interfere with rebuilding my pectoral muscles. I have my appointment with the PA on Wednesday, and have ordered a pair of new bras. 32G LOL! I have extra skin in the breast area. He did do some fancy stitchwork to bring it up a bit tighter so he didn't have to remove it.

So I did plenty of fasting the past two weeks.

I am now a grandmother!! Late February. And I got some good news just recently!!
