Intense itching on side of reconstructed breast
I am curious if anyone else has had sudden intense itching around the reconstructed breast area. I am three years out from a LD flap reconstruction and I may have had a little tiny itching here and there, but suddenly tonight is so intense! I have no feeling on the skin in that area so scratching certainly doesn’t help. The itching is occurring where the flap comes under the arm into the breast area. Has this happened to anyone else and is there anything that can relieve it? Thank you!!

I had a DIEP flap, bilateral, and I have had that intense, internal itch. I read somewhere that if you scratch your back, it can relieve the itch, at least to a certain extent. Weird, but surprisingly effective.
Good luck.

Hello, sorry to both of you about your sudden itching. Didn't have reconstruction after my BMX, but I had that sudden intense itching around that time. Wish I known the back scratching trick.
To resolve my itching from 12 years ago, I've been wearing exclusively 100% cotton & switched laundry detergents. I had also changed to a much cleaner natural diet with no processed foods. Collectively it worked for me.
Some good tips at link below.

here I am now, nine months out from my last post about this and four years after the reconstruction. I am experiencing intense itching again, but now right in the center of my reconstructive breast. It seems like this has started since I’ve finally been able to sleep on that side after having hip surgery two months ago.
Has anyone else had this crazy itching? And of course you can’t really scratch it because it’s on the inside of the breast. Is it something to be concerned about?thanks for anyone who has any insight and has had this experience. It’s driving me nuts. And of course, health anxiety, which I’ve had since the surgery isn’t helping me.
