Diagnosed with LCIS and ALH on the right breast and ADH on the left

Diagnosed with LCIS and ALH on the right breast (affected area: 10cm8cm5cm) and ADH on the left breast. Lots of lumps on both breast.

One surgeon suggest excisional biopsy for both affected area. It will include removal of part of affected area of right breast.

Second surgeon said I can consider bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction at the same time as i am in 30 to 40% risk.

Not sure what to do.

Can you please share your experience?

  • I hope you're doing well, since this post is about 2 months old. I had ADH and chose bilateral mastectomy with aesthetic flat closure. I did an excisional biopsy first to rule out cancer.

@goldfish85, I was interested to read that you had a bilateral mastectomy with an ADH diagnosis. Was this the recommendation of your oncologist?

@alaka93; what did you decide to do? It's a difficult decision and a lot of information to absorb.

I had a lumpectomy, no cancer thankfully, and am now on Tamoxifen at 10mg level, 6 month checks with either mammography or MRI.

@scg94123 We're just checking in on you as we haven't seen you around much - how are things going on tamoxifen? Let us know if we can do anything to help with side effects, etc.
