ulcerating tumour

mother 94 , advanced Alzheimer probably stage 6 , her breast tumor has started ulcerating , 2 weeks ago first liquid now blood, she is living in a memory care center , wondering how this will evolve , prognosis etc. Does it mean metastasis?

Evidently no medical intervention is wanted to prolong her life , except palliative care

Hi @lealiv, An ulcerating tumor could be either stage 3 or 4 depending on whether cancer has spread to your mother’s bones or organs such as the liver, lungs and brain. Since she is on palliative care wound care for the tumor should help keep her comfortable. The course of cancer and Alzheimer’s are both so unpredictable that it’s impossible to say what will happen. Being there for your mother and ensuring she is well looked after is your gift to her.
