Just got biopsy result
Received my biopsy result today for 14mm stage 2 no lymp nodes involved Im 64,back in Feb was told it was just a 9mm cyst.Then in May had colonoscopy that found cancerous polyp,they did a CT scan of chest abdomen and pelvis which showed lump in breast had grown and suspicious.I was devestated with news today after going thru the bowel problem.Waiting for appointment now to see breast Dr.Have any ladies had similar and how long does it usually take to see the breast Dr after my GP sends referal.So gutted and scared right now.

The period between diagnosis and meeting with the breast surgeon can be one of the most difficult parts, and we're sure other members will share their experiences regarding referral and appointment timelines.

Hi @pip150, I'm sorry that your unexpected diagnosis brought you here. I also discovered I had breast cancer in an unusual way. An oral surgeon biopsied and debrided my jawbone. When the biopsy came back as osteomyelitis he told me I must have cancer somewhere since that is what causes mandible infection. I had a mammogram callback two and a half years prior but was told all was well on that and the next two mammograms. It turned out I had a 3.2 cm breast tumor and a positive lymph node. It's upsetting when something you were told is benign turns out to be cancer which has been quietly growing inside of you.
The wait for a breast surgeon appointment varies depending on where you live and your medical insurance. I now live in a rural area of the US but could only get an appointment quickly (within a week) if I travelled 100 miles to a large city which I did. If you are in the UK or Canada where I have previously lived it all depends on where you are located. Cities have more doctors available. In my experience it also depends on which local health board (UK) or province (Canada) you are located in. In the US you can call and ask to be put on a cancellation list but that doesn't work everywhere.
Despite the very delayed diagnosis I'm doing OK five years later. I hope you get an appointment soon. Once you have a treatment plan things do get better. All the best.
