Scared to death

I am 73 and have just been diagnosed with stage 2b triple negative breast cancer. Will be starting 4 months of chemo and immunotherapy shortly —then surgery—then who knows! Is there anyone out there that has had a similar experience with a decent outcome. I really need some encouragement right now

Hi @janmac3725 and welcome to our Community. We're so very sorry for the reasons that bring you here, but we're glad you've found us. You're sure to find our community a wonderful source of advice, information, encouragement, and support - we're all here for you!

We know that the beginning of this experience is so scary and overwhelming, but we're here to help you learn about what you're dealing with, what to expect, and how to get through it. You've got this.

Stage IIB is considered early-stage breast cancer, so your outcome is favorable - don't get ahead of yourself and thinking the worst. You'll find many others here who have faced similar diagnoses and are now thriving years after treatment. You will be too.

While Triple-Negative breast cancer may be considered aggressive and harder to treat, there are treatments for it that are very effective. Learnall about this diagnosis to learn the treatments that are used, read personal stories from others, listen to podcasts on ways to manage this diagnosis and research advances for treating TNBC:

In addition, we suggest you introduce yourself and share your story on the Calling All TNs thread, where you can read others' experiences and find some inspiration. In addition, this podcast should help: Hope After a Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Diagnosis

We hope this helps you get started. Do you know what type of chemotherapy and immunotherapy you'll be starting and when? If so, we can help point you to helpful information on what to expect with treatment.
