New here just diagnosed,
Hello, my name is Kellie. I am nearly 48 yrs old. I have been diagnosed with IBC stage 3 grade 3 er/pr negative her2+ . I live in a rural community in Colorado, USA. I will be receiving treatment locally. I have port placement coming up on Thursday and will be starting chemo on 7/27. I am the first in my family line to have breast cancer. If it weren’t for the physical signs of IBC I would say I feel fine. One day I noticed a mass in my armpit and that my breast was larger red swollen etc etc. and here we are a few weeks later. I have two super great people by my side yet I’m terrified if I can handle this. If as a three person unit we all can handle this. It’s going to be a complicated journey but I’m here to fight. Looking to connect with others in this similar cancer journey.

Do you know what type of chemo you'll be starting? We can get you some resources so you can find out what to expect with treatment and some advice on how to get ahead of any side effects. And, join us on the July chemo thread so you can meet others on a similar path.
Also, we encourage you to join our In Treatment Virtual Support Groups - they are one way many members swear by to be able to get through treatment and learn SO much about what they're going through and how to thrive beyond. We hope you'll join us!

Sorry you find yourself here but at the same time glad that you have found us.
The Stage 3 section of the website has 5/10/15 and now 20 year survival threads which are truly inspirational. All different pathologies but all stage 3 - you will find hope there if you haven't already discovered them.
There is also a 'large tumour survivors' thread if this is relevant to you.
Once you have your pathology and a plan things feel a little easier. Glad you have some real life support too.
I know one triple positive survivor who was stage 3 with over 30 nodes - her disease was felt to be mainly HER driven (though she was also hormone positive). She was diagnosed around 15 years ago and is fine. She had herceptin, chemo and hormone blockers as well as surgery.
Good luck with your treatment - keep posting your questions and if you just need a boost.
