Poll: What's throwing your life out of balance right now?

Life with breast cancer requires adjustment.

We adjust our schedules, our expectations, and sometimes even our definition of a good day. We make room for appointments, family, work, rest, and the people and moments that bring us joy or a bit of calm.

Finding balance isn't always easy, and it may look different from one day to the next. This month, we invite you to explore new conversations, reflect on your own experiences, and connect with others around the world who understand.

Tell us in the poll answers and thread below: What's throwing your life out of balance right now?

We'd love to hear what's been most difficult for you lately and what you wish was different.

Sleep, fatigue, or lack of energy

The hormone blockers magnify depressive and hopeless feelings. So although insomnia is perhaps the worst side effect, depression/worries about the future are close second.

  • Emotional overwhelm

I am emotionally overwhelmed after a double mastectomy with no family or friends support in addition to now being a caregiver and care taker for my adult son who suffers from CFS. Plus I just retired after 44 years of running a business helping others. Writing this out helps me understand why I'm so tired and struggle with sleep and anxiety.

I can’t lose weight and when I try to work out I’m down for three days afterward. I don’t seem to have the energy or motivation to do much of anything.

Treatment side effects that cause changes with physical functionality. It involves temporary (or sometimes permanent) loss of ability to perform home/ family duties, a profession, mobility required to be meet social, medical, personal engagements, and even as simple as activities of daily living (ADLs).

These functional changes push for significant modifications and gives a resounding reminder of life’s impermanence.
