    Hello Ladies,

So far 3 days post op and still NO PAIN!!  My hubby took pics yesterday and I'm happy to share them with you ladies on here.  I know I was worried, concerned (pick a word) about what I was going to have as far as scars after my exchange surgery.  Just send me your email and I'll send you the pics.  And NO I'm trying to sound "weird" about sharing them... just trying to help.

Marilyn,  how great you are willing to help.  That is really  kind.

Connie, I think a couple of other people weren't feeling too great on Mother's Day this year as well.  Can't remember who, of course.  Usual fog at the end of the tunnel.  How's this for not being real with it -- I usually post the quote first before I write.  Anyway, hope you are back to normal.  Sort of peculiar how everything sort of gangs up on you now and then isn't it??  Summer season is trying to come --- isn't it?  Hopefully will get here soon so you can enjoy your water too.

Buddy, I too hope you get your wish of new machines.  I could never afford these if Dh did not work at Sears and be able to cash in on what has become a godsend to us.  Only way I could afford the new HE machines.  Also, my old ones are in such good condition I will be able to get good money for them.  They are about 7 years old, but people who see them think they are new. Hope you felt good and refreshed after your nap.

I hear the roll of thunder outside so it is going to be a wet sort of day here as it's now raining -- and cool. Ick is the best word I can think of right now.  Well, got lots to do....a whole bed room to arrange in some way  ---  and then if true to what usually seems to happen in any room I try it in -- back to exactly how it was.  Sigh !!!  I need those HGTV people who come in......take all the things you have and give them the proper placement -- and things don't stay in the same room either....they move it all over so hmmm, where are they when you need them.

Be checking in as is my usual later on.

    Hugs, Jackie

Hope you will all have an ok day though.

OK This was embarrasing.  When I got to the therapist most of all the swelling was gone.  She was like   Why are you here???  Not really but I could tell she was thinking it.  With all the steroids and Naproxen I have been taking.  Will it come back after it gets out of my system?

Oh, I am so glad Donna, you like the music.  I still have several and I am clueless who did not get one.  Don't be insulted if I forgot to send you a tape.  I forget a lot of things lately.  So speak up if you like music.  I love music. Speaking of GREAT TOP DOWN DRIVING MUSIC and if you like country western, you must get the soundtrack from Crazy Heart.  So many wonderful songs.

The weather is pretty dreadful, but should improve soon.  I did some gardening.  Have you see those silly upside down containers for strawberries and tomatoes.  I hing a few.  It dawned on me that plant should be pointed straight up and they are however drawn to the sun.  I can picture my poor little tomato planted twisting around trying to seethe sun and not the ground. We'll see.

Buddy, the symptoms always vanish when in the dotcor's office (would have been sweet if the cancer did the same vanishing act) but we all saw the pictures and it is/was bad-looking!

WE are heading for Elkhorn for their antique day tomorrow.  I love browsing among all the junk.  I am only working one day this week and my daughter is moving and so it will be packing or entertaining my adorable grandchildren.  I secretly hope it is the latter....so much more fun.

    Have a blast this weekend.

Hi Zap, Going to Elkhorn tomorrow... hmmm how about stopping in Lake Geneva. I am up north now. Let me know. I was down by the Lake today and all the boats were out. The water was so calm and like glass. Ahhh boating season is here. Life is good now that it is boating season. Let the fun begin. Just need a bit more warm sunny weather.

Hope  everyone is having a wonderful Saturday. Enjoy

I so love Helen Keller that I'm putting in two of her quotes today:

It is wonderful how much time good people spend fighting the devil. If they would only expend the same amount of energy loving their fellow men, the devil would die in his own tracks of ennui.

NavyMom,big, major, super, humongous, and very large and wonderful congratulations on becoming a Grandmother at long last.  He is a fine size and it certainly was time for him to arrive.  You will be seeing him at a great time --- a little over a week after his birth.  He will be enjoying life in the outside world ( that is when he is awake anyway ) and will have been able to adjust somewhat to his somewhat reluctant entrance into the world.  Just remember -- you can't stuff him into your suitcase when you get ready to come home.  I am very happy for you.

Susan, hope you and Bj, can get together today.  What fun, huh !!!  I like to go to antique type stores  though I don't buy much.  Actually -- often I am just looking for the odd pieces ( not antiques ) that get tossed in just because.  I can usually find sturdy bowls and plates for feeding my feral cats etc.  Now and then, I do find an odd piece -- be it small furniture, lamp, or whatever that says take me home....and I usually do.

Donna, I have been seeing an ad for the Cancer Centers of America on the t.v. and they do sound likethey treat the total person and have a great deal of respect for the different reactions to what is going on not only physically, but mentally as well.  I hope all continues to go well for your new friend.  At the end of the ad.....the lady says " You can't fight cancer if you don't have hope" so I am thinking they try to make it all as positive ( and hopeful ) as they can.  That would certainly be an uplifting approach.  In time I hope to hear more about these Centers and the experiences of those who use them.

It is due to rain maybe off and on, here today.  Not what I like to hear -- just as much is the coolness that will be present.  I have lots I want to do today....so I won't notice too much I don't think.  I am hoping as many of you as possible will have sun to warm you and make your day really pleasant, whatever you do. I'll be checking back later.  See you then.

    Hugs, Jackie

Just a drive by to say a belated Happy Birthday to Smerf and Congratulations to Navy Mom!!!!

My dad is in the hospital.  He fell a couple of days ago and didn't want to do anything about it until Saturday night!  He has myasthenias gravas and it looks like that seems to be more of a problem.  He may need to be on oxygen from now on.  But if that's the only the thing that - at least we can handle that.  My poor sister....she needs to be all over the place.  Luckily my uncle helped out last night.   Now I'm old new. LOL.  Wink

Congratulations Navy!  Oh, how happy.  Like Rita (she has one more than I do) being a grandparent is so magical.  So enjoy the magic!  I hope your daughter-in-law is okay.  That was a big baby!
I am sorry Caroline that your father is having a rough time.  I know how sad it makes you to see him faced with this.

My day was perfect.  I found two more paper weights to add to my collection and five more vintage books for a great price AND I visited with Blackjack and her dear husband and dog, Jack.  Jack was under the table and he rested his face on my foot.  I know it was his face because  of his very wet nose. I love Jack and his spirit.  He make my cat look lazy and uncreative. Blackjack's house is just like her.....classy cool...and it was so nice to sit with them in the home I know she loves so much because it is near water and open land.  Oh, such a nice time.  Thanks, BJ.

I have been foolish (have put off the dentist because I hate going to the dentist) and I now am keeping a tooth ache at bay.  So I am taking Alleve and It is working but I know the problem is still there,  I work tomorrow and my dentist takes Mondays off anyway.  I am just hoping the Alleve takes care of it until Tuesday ot whenever I can get to the endo. .  I know this will be a root canal and I could kick myself for not keeping up with routine checkups.  Translation:  GO TO THE DENTIST EVERY SIX MONTHS.

    So have a great week.

How exciting Navymom-congrats to you on your new grandchild.

Zap, so glad you and Blackjack were able to meet up. What kind of dog is Jack? I have a tooth that bothers me at times too and I do go every 6 months, but I think I will need to go in soon to have it checked agan. It only hurts sometimes, so it's easy to keep putting it off, not to mention the expense - Yuck!

Mich - How is the dizziness?

    --------------------------------------------

This weekend was CRAZY - but in a very good way! Spent Saturday at the "salon"...nails, pedi, wax, massage! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...wish I could do that everyday! lol

Spent today gardening my butt off! Got about one half of my planting done. Did lots of splitting and re-planting. My garden is growing like crazy...each year I am noticing lots of growth. But with that comes the labor of splitting and re-locating. I was able to garden for about 1.5 hours and then I had to go inside and massage my hand and thumb and work the fluid out. Then I was able to go back outside and do it all over again. I've learned alot about manual lymph drainage. It really works. It's almost like being a Diabetic...it's all about management. Yes...it SUCKS...but yes...it is do-able. What's the alternative? Non that I can think of.

Looking forward to attending the Health Expo next month inSchaumburg...

Truly hope you ALL had a great weekend...and best wishes for a great week!

    Good morning ladies!

I am so glad that Susan and BJ got to meet up and have some fun.  That's what this is all about......making friends, helping each other, and forming bonds.  Blackjack, it sounds like you have a lovely home.  I'm sure I would love it as I love being on or near the water.

Laura, I'm so glad that you've perfected the manual lymph drainage program and can still enjoy the gardening and other activities.  It sounds like you had  a great day at the spa.  I have never had a pedi and don't think I'd do well with that.  I've never been able to stand anybody touching my feet, but most of my friends love them.

We got our garden completely in this weekend before today's rain. Maybe we did it at the right time for a change.  We don't have a very large area to garden because it's so shaded with all the trees so we just put in a few radishes, onions, green beans, zucchini, acorn squash, cucumbers, green peppers and a few tomato plants. If they grow, they will taste good. We also had a build a fence around it to keep out the rabbits and deer.

Carolyn, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad.  I hope he improves after his fall.  Aging parents are such a worry at times.  They just put my step-mother in the nursing home and now my Dad, who's in a wheelchair is home all alone.  It really bothers me, but his mind is good and I think he's enjoying the serenity of the house now.  He has a cleaning lady who comes twice a week and the senior program provides a hot meal once a week and brings enough frozen meals that they've prepared for the rest of the week.  Still, it bothers me because he does not get around that well and is not ready to go to the nursing home.  He lives in TN so it's not like I can just get in the car and check on him every day.  He doesn't want to come back to IL either so it's a worry.

It's raining pretty steady this morning so I guess it's a good day for shopping.  It's Mary Jane's and my monthly shopping gig today.  We're heading to Tuscola for a day at the outlet mall.  I think I need it.  I don't know if it was the weather, the Arimidex joint aches, or a bit of depression that caused my funky mood last week but I was pretty down and a little worried about myself.  I feel a little more perky now that I got out some this weekend.

Hey Navy, any chance we'll get to see some pictures of that little guy????

Wel, I'm off to the shower and full day.  Hugs to all of you.

Good morning. I am having some of Wendy's rain and I am not enjoying it anymore than she is.  I had this thought....I could just spit on it, and then thinking that is just ducky -- more liquid out there.  It is funny, misty out here in the woods.  Makes me think of what living in a tropical rain forest must be like.

Today we go to Marion -- time for my Oncology check-up.  Dh is taking his meds now as directed.  He did not like the feelings he had ( chest pressure and palpitations ) for three days and I'm sure now will be able to follow directions.  Some times I guess we just have to have that old reality check.  Also, we will slowly incorporate a whole lot of the DASH diet foods into our everyday eating.  I'm looking forward to that as it is up my alley so to speak.

Carolyn, count me in on the well wishes for your dad.  It must be difficult to undergo your own treatment regimen and try to help your Pops deal with his maladies at the same time.

Rita, sure glad someone is able to go "see" your Dad during the week.  I would imagine it is sort of good for him to be relieved of having to care for your step-mom while he himself needs to be in a wheel-chair.  Do any of the people coming in through the week communicate with you so you can get a second-hand look into how things are going ???

Hmmm, Tuscola --- one of these days.  Have not gotten up there as yet.  Now we are in the middle of changing out our washer and dryer.  Have to "think" about picking the machines up today....the rain may hang around...so would wait till Dh's next day off.  They can just sit in storage at the store till then.  Denny is building me a pedestal for them.  The ones you buy are  expensive and he can make something just as good.  Will put a door on the front and I will have plastic slide in bins down below.

Well, on to some breakfast...and then Marion.  See you all later.  Hope you have fun shopping Rita.  Tell Mary Jane hi for me.

    Hugs, Jackie

    Hey ladies

i had my surgery last week--what a relief to get that over with. I feel pretty good-I had a very basic mx--just one side and no nodes or reconstruction. Hope to get my drain (just one) out this Friday but just very happy I could have the surgery and it is overwith after hanging over my head since last Sept...

EnglishMajor, hi there.  It has been awhile since you posted so I am glad you let us know how things were with you.  How fantastic to just have the one drain and as well to get this surgery done.  Seeing your diagnosis line...you were probably on the Mets boards here.  I hope you can progress now into a good place that this operation is behind you.

All seems well with me according to the new Oncologist at the V.A. Dr. Patel seemed very upbeat ( a quality I appreciate ) efficient, and through.  He seems younger than Dr. Lingamurthy, but that is ok.  I think we can have a good rapport.  All my tests were fine other than telling me I am in the osteopenia stage.  I think many people on Arimidex can say that --- I just don't know if I was already there before the Arimidex or it got me down the slope a little faster.  I'm not too concerned at the moment.  Just another thing to watch.  Did not get the results of my tumor marker test but if it is not good they would call.  I'm sure it's fine.  I'm fine on the Vitamin D so that is a relief --- probably all the cream horns I have been eating -- don't you think.

Well, I'll see you all later.

    Hugs, Jackie

Laura-I had a brain MRI done last week to followup on the dizziness and all was good. Since I have not had another vertigo episode since last month, and my ear pressure is gone, I'm just going to wait it out for a while. The ENT dr. agrees.

Blackjack- Ohhh, a lab/golden mix - those both are such wonderful breeds. Our only dog now is a golden/border collie(?) mix. She is so smart and so sweet. She is around 12 now, so it's sad to see her age. We got her from a shelter and gave her a good life. My husband even did agility with her when she was younger. Such a good dog.

I decided to start the Fosomax last Saturday, so we'll see how that goes.

    To everyone, take care.
