Mich Thank goodness your MRI was normal. My friend was just diagnosed with Vertigo.
Donna How wonderful you still have your Father to enjoy.
I got 2 new Little Red Hens over the weekend. One was terribly neglected. I think she is starting to feel safe in her new home. She will be fat and sassy like the rest of my girls in no time.

Good morning, gals! We had so much fun shopping yesterday and found some really good buys. Tuscola was having some really good sales and unfortunately they have three really good children's shops in the mall. My grandsons have new clothes! I even picked up an early Christmas present for my oldest one as it was something I'm sure he'll like and reduced drastically from the original price. Now I just need to remember where I put it so I can find it when Christmas rolls around! LOL Jackie, we do need to get you up here sometime and head over that way! Shopping is so good for the mood and heavens knows that I've been having some major mood swings for a couple of weeks!
Michele, I'm so glad that the MRI results were good. I also hope that you do well on the Fosomax. Keep us updated on that!
Well, the sun is peeking through the clouds here after a rainy day yesterday so it appears we might have our golf league this afternoon and evening. That means I need to get moving and get something done around here.
Catch you all later. Have a good day!

Rita, you had me laughing about buying a gift and then forgetting where you put it? It has happened to me MANY times.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone.
I am happy today. We should have if not sunshine, at least no more rain. More may come in a day or two but the chance to dry out ( and warm up a little ) is very welcome. My mood is so dependent on the weather. Yours too I think, Rita. It is to the point where I am not enjoying my work ( this is mainly what I need to do at home ) or working -- which is mainly what I do away from my house. Sometimes it is difficult to be inspired here ( too easy to get overwhelmed ), but made much worse when the weather is so lousy. Can I say that word. I try not to talk like that, but hard to deny after a while.
Michele, you said the magic words about your sweet and so very smart dog. That despite having to watch her grow old you gave her a good life. Could someone else have done so --- yes, they could, but the important thing is that YOU know YOU did. It is hard to deal with knowing we are only given these great friends for a short while -- but we use our time-table and emotions, and while I feel our pets do have emotions of a sort -- I don't think they carry the burden ours sometimes do. I think I have mentioned before -- though I attribute much that is human to these dear friends --- they, unlike us, are without guile. Quite pure really and so I think they feel like they are having a nearly endless life -- and they do not have to return ( reincarnate ) like we do to Get It Right.....They go where we do and wait for us. Where lions lay down with the lambs so to speak so our happiness and all the love we invested in these friends is not lost, but a treasure that is returned to us.
To lighten things back up a bit -- it appears on the weather map that basically the whole state of Illinois will not be having rain today. There is something to rejoice. I think it is headed well East of us -- could Donna get some. Not sure, but hope things go well for you in NY with your Dad. Budders is so right, that while our aging parents can be a trial of a sorts.....how wonderful to have them. I miss my parents so often, but generally with positive up-lifting thoughts of how life was with them. If I try I can almost recall smells, special events, and just things we did together. I know they are a great source of all the joy I often have now because they taught me how.
Ok....I'm getting a bit long here so am going to go. Hope that you all have a great no-rain day and enjoy to the fullest.
Hugs, Jackie

Hi ladies:Michele, good for you on the mri results. I know you are feeling calmer with that behind you.Wendy, good to hear from you and I am in contact with my dentist. She is, unfortunately, out of town until NEXT Wednesday when I have an appointment. She gave me the number of the root canal guy if it flares. So far it is under control and she told me to keep up with the Alleve and keep it very clean with salt water. She is a control freak and would prefer to see me before she makes a referral and I trust her call. I feel better just having worked out a plan with her.I think I am up for a bone density test. It is up to me to ask the doctor and not get reminded about that, so I will call the primary. I feel like I am such a high maintenance person.Tomorrow will be a very busy day as daughter moves to Glen Ellyn. I will care for the babies on both ends while she directs the movers and her husband does the same. I am so glad I can be there to help her. It is times like this that you realize how lucky it is to have your health. Last time she MOVED INTO HER CONDO WITHOUT BABIES YET, I could barely take the stairs empty-handed I was so winded by the chemo.I worked yesterday and I told my girlfriend the teacher about your lovely place, BJ, and she knew exactly where it was. She, like your kids, grew up in the area and she even waitressed on the boat there. She is about 45 now (married later and has a two-year-old). Her little guy is now "growing up" himself in the area on weekends and through most of the summer. It is a wonderful life style!Rita, I give you credit for saving any gift. I always just break down and give the gift to the grandchild just because I have no self discipline.Marina and English Major, I know you are both deep in the mix. How is it going? I believe English Major had surgery. Hope all is well.Donna, don't you just want to be feisty like your dad at his age. He sounds like a real character who loves his independence and his life!To all the rest, and there are so many, I am thinking about you and hope all is well.Susan0

Hi All,
Drain is still not out and is holding up the start of chemo. Dr says that he is concerned with the large amount of drainage still at this point. Unfortunately, the drainage is coming from the lymph nodes in my chest. Having been blessed/cursed (however one looks at it at the moment) with a large chest there are more lymph nodes and more drainage. At least that's how the plastic surgeon explained it. If it doesn't slow down then he plans to take the tissue extender out because if they were to take out the drain at this point, the fluid would have no place to go but where the tissue expander is and then I'd end up with an infection! I need compression against my chest and the ace bandage isn't working so my sister's rigged me up with ace bandage and some sox pressing against the chest. Doesn't hurt but it is sort of funny. LOL.
My dad is out of the hospital. He is doing well at home but has to go back all this week for IV therapy.
My poor sister was leaving the hospital when she tripped over a speed bumped and severly injured her left wrist. We don't know the extent of the injuries yet. She sees the ortho tomorrow. I'm not supposed to be doing any housework but I can't help but try to help a little bit around the house with my good arm - emptying the dishwasher, filling the dishwasher, making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and breakfasts for the kids if I can. I wish I could drive. I think my sister is just about at her breaking point with driving all the kids and now my dad on top of my appointments.
Anyway, sorry for going on about my sister. I just feel so bad for her and wish there was something I could do for her.
Take care!
Carolyn

Hi to all of you
Carolyn. You sound like such a sweet kind appreciative girl. I am sure your sister loves you and would expect the same treatment from you. Sisters are tuff. i hope her wrist is ok. That sure would throw a loop into things for all of you. I am sure you pitching in is a big help to her.
MAK..Hot flashes stink.....But its nothing we cant deal with as long as that mass is shrinking...Great news
I saw my frined today she has 3 more taxatere to go. She is doing great.

WELL.. in NY ..update.. my DAD and DH went out and bought DAD a used car... 91 year old man is driving a pretty decent 2007 Toyota.. really nice and have to say.. safer for him to drive. I am just worried sick about him driving, even if it is local. The man is unbleievable and keeps me goin as i go insane ..lol.
I hope there will be some SUN today.. i just want some walking time.
Buddy....So sorry about your CNA friend.. that is tragic!!!!Ihave a local gal that i am trying to bring in here for support as she is on her last treatment. GOOD you are there for others. Hope you are healing!!!AND Laura!

Good morning to all on this rainy morning. Of course you know it is just what I wanted. It will from the look of things bring some much desired warmer weather. The on and off again that we have been having is not too good. So, grit your teeth and hang on...better times are coming. See you all later...I'm on work computer which could go quickly.
Hugs, Jackie

Carolyn, Once you know what your protocol will be, let us know.. I know that a few ladies on here gave me some very useful helpful tips.. and I myself have been doing quite a few things to help me get through treatments including managing side effects as well as helping with blood counts..0

Hi gals!
Just a quick fly by to see what's going on. I'm off to a Golf (Rally) for the Cure meeting this afternoon and then to the local breast cancer dinner night. It was one year ago that Wendy and I tried to get this group started. Participation fluctuates and it's frustrating at times but we have a group meeting for dinner tonight, followed by Bunco. It should be fun.
Buddy, you sound perkier today. How's the arm and hand doing?
Carolyn, I sure wouldn't know anything about that "well-endowed" chest area! LOL I never had that problem, but I do hope that it quits draining for you. I'm sitting here smiling as I visualize your "compression bandage." Let's hope it does the trick.
Well, I'm out of here and will catch you all tomorrow. Have a great dreary afternoon and evening! They're predicting more rain for our area tomorrow, too. Just what we love, eh Jackie?

I'll have to catch up reading posts soon, but I have just read the last few, and wow is everyone here busy!
I wanted to thank you all for the birthday wishes both here and on Facebook. So nice of you, and so appreciated. Being 65 feels pretty good so far, but I am laughing at Rita's story about the hidden presents. Last year I bought, wrapped and hid a few that I completely forgot about! Mother's Day weekend one of my daughters was here, and she was saying she wished she had some good knives for cooking. OMG, I bought some for her last fall, intending to give them to her at the holidays, but totally forgot, and they have been in a closet all these months. I gave them to her on Mother's Day, all wrapped up in Hannukah paper. Somebody tell me it's the thought that counts!
Carolyn, I sure hope that wrist is okay. Your sister sounds like a wonderful person, and it's good of you to help out with your good arm. Here's hoping the drain soon comes out!
Susan, it's so nice you got to meet up with BJ. You do the most interesting things, and still managing to find time to work after retiring. I don't think you are so high maintenance, but just very busy. We all need reminders sometimes, that's for sure.
Jackie, we had sun here all morning, but now it is starting to cloud up. I think your rain is moving this way, and I still have some planting to do. Trying to get a few flowers out on the deck to get some color. The deer are wondering what's taking me so long to give them something to nibble.
To all of you in tx, my thoughts are with you every day.
Wendy, I'm hoping to get to see you soon. Missed you at dinner, and sending positive vibes for all eye problems to improve.
Hugs to all!

Rain, rain, and more rain! It looks like an "inside day" today.. BUT the weekend looks like it will be fantastic and WARM!
We have something to look forward to! LOLOur monthly bc night out was lots of fun. We had a nice group of gals, great food, and lots of fun playing bunco. As you northern gals know, it's so good to get together with others who have walked the same journey.
Hey smerf...........it IS the thought that counts. I've never had anyone turn down a late present that I discovered after the fact! LOL I'm glad that you had a nice birthday! I'm late with my flower pots this year, too! I'm sure our deer are also having withdrawal symptoms because we did get the garden in and did actually put a fence around it so they can't eat everything that we planted! I'm sure they feel slighted! LOL So good to see a post from you!
Well, I'm determined to see the surface area of my desk before the day is over so I'd better get another cup of coffee and get started!

Good morning,
Looks like our rain decided to go away early. It may be cloudy off and on but yay no rain. Lots to do today so I will do my best. Hope your rain has a change of heart too Rita. Thank goodness we really are going to warm up. I hope it does not get too humid, but it is still very damp out of doors so------but at least it will feel more like actual summer.
Donna...wow, we are starting into nice weather and you may have to start home in the rain. Well, we will save lots of nice weather for you here at home. ok.
Wendy -- just saying hi hoping all is well with you.
Going to run along now as I have limited time on computer with some of the Realtors who park themselves here at the desk -- a lot. See you all much later.
Hugs, Jackie

Good morning! All is well here except it is overcast. I am going to the zoo with the younger daughter. A baby monkey was born there a few months ago and we fell in love with the little guy. So we go visit him every two weeks or so to watch him grow. I wish I knew how to post pictures here because I got a great picture of him and he is precious (if you like monkeys).I went to a gathering last night in Wauconda to visit with friends. They have a HUGE family. I met up with three women diagnosed with BC in the last six months. What is going on? All got it early and so are optimisitc, but this seems outrageous to meet up with so many!Have a great day!Susan0

Where did this week go? Geesh...time is flying! Getting ready to go to my friend's pool get-together. Although...if this yucky weather doesn't clear up...we'll be inside.
The strangest thing took place this morning. About 20-25 squirrels were jumping, climbing, flying through the trees all at once. Literally flying from the branches of the tree tops. They were squawking too. It was a true frenzy...I felt like I was in a jungle with monkeys going crazy. The only thing I can think is that maybe a Hawk was hovering out of my eyesight - causing them to protect themselves. It went on for about a half an hour. And while I was watching all this from my deck, one of the squirrels fell from one of the branches. I almost had a heart attack! Honestly...he fell from a 40' high branch! When it hit the ground, I heard a thump. Thought for sure it was dead, but it got up and scurried up a tree. Life in the forest IS CRAZY! lol Quite amusing though...Paulie cowered in my arms...he could sense something was happening. I wish I'd had my video cam handy...
Oh well...have to shower and figure out what to wear. Hope you all have a nice day.

Susan, my take on this is that there has been lots of cancers of all kinds, but it is much more in the open and talked about now. I think in years past, cancer often seemed like a death sentence and people just didn't put it on you by such open discussion as we have now.
Still, I want to acknowledge that IT IS outrageous that we still have numbers like we do when this has been worked on for so long. I did hear a news article about ovca and they are using older methods in a newer combination which enables them to find the cancer much sooner. That is very promising as the problem with ovca cancer is the very strong tendency of finding it later rather than sooner. I pray it does not take too much longer for answers to the majority of the cancers we see so often now.
See all you great ladies later.
Hugs, Jackie

Okay, just an FYI. My privacy was jeopardized with Facebook so I am out of there. It turned out to be rather harmless: yet a post was made with my avatar and I was not the poster! It concerned this discussion group. It all came together when Rita responded to that post and then with a special on the news tonight that this sort of thing is happening to broaden exposure to advertising for the company of Facebook. Facebook is a mega-million income company and I do not want them using me to make a few more bucks. Just be smart!

Zap I agree with you. It's also a big time waster. I spend too much time on there when I could be doing many more productive things. Now with this privacy issue. Its just what I neede to push me over the edge. Thanks for the wake up call.

Susan and everyone-- a few weeks ago I totally eliminated my Facebook acct. It was fairly redundant as my normal communication has been these blogs and some email. I think we have very little REAL privacy and so leaving small messages on a place like Facebook quickly lost it's appeal. I have heard ( can't recall exactly ) that Facebook has had other "problems" like being breached etc. I really don't have the time to come here, go there, go to another blog or two and do some of the things that are so highly meaningful to me -- like quotes. I chose sticking with what I already had beforehand. It has served me well and I have remained happy with no major gripes for a very long time.
It's goingon 11 p.m. Today was a corker as I knew it would be. One of the guys I work with gave me a huge amt. of green onions, leaf lettuce, and spinach. So in additon to all else I cleaned and sorted, cut and packaged most of this. I'm done in and will see you all in the morning.
Happy Friday night.
Hugs, Jackie

Morning! Hey...where's the sun? It's not raining but it sure is gloomy and foggy. They say it will clear up this afternoon...I hope so!
Smerf....I laughed out loud about the knives and han. paper! Now...that's funny! And yes, it is the thought that counts!
Jackie...I didn't mind the rain as I managed to get my flowers in but it can stop now. Right now. How's DH? Behaving himself????
Rita....how was bunco? You sure are busy these days and isn't it wonderful to be able to get out. Have you put your top down yet? I did once, about 4 weeks ago! Maybe later today....
Laura...crazy thing about those squirrels. Every once in a while I get this flock of literally hundreds of little black birds and they go crazy, right behind my deck for about 5-10 minutes and then they leave. Strange. How was the pool party?
BJ....how many days left? When do you leave for LV? Please be a good little girl and get that sleeve/gauntlet...minimum compression will be fine for you.
Connie...I still have "Under the Dome" for you! It was pretty good and the ending was ...well...never mind! You will have to read it yourself as my lips are sealed...
Mich101...how's the Rx working out? Any se's???
Rene...hey, how are you doing on the Zometa?
Ah....facebook! I have changed my privacy settings so many times to keep up with FB changes. I like it so I can see what my nieces and nephews are up to...I rarely post or comment.
Buddy...how's the hand/arm?
Carolyn...how's your sister? Dad? YOU????
My eyes are the same.....I think my brain is figuring all the floating junk out but if I had to take the eye test for my license right now I would be restricted to day driving. Eye doc says it will continue to clear so I am hopeful...I think!
Read something I thought very interesting in I think it was Time mag....cancer makes us put on red hot shoes and we start to dance, never resting...for the rest of our lives....as cancer never truly leaves our lives. So we dance and dance, we keep moving, trying to keep out of it's way. Altho I would much rather have never gotten the cancer dx, dancing for the rest of my life is not so bad vs sitting on my butt, watching the world go by. So.....
Let's Dance, girls....dance, dance, dance!!!!!!!
