Carolyn, you mom probably meant that you were looking forward to getting well, or if I am allowed to say it, CURED!

Did fifth grade today and after the math lesson, I now know why I was an English teacher all those years.  That math is very complex.  They are in fifth grade and learning about exponents and WHY they work in problem-solving!

The bike ride yesterday got me going on an exercise program.  I felt so good about it when it was completed.

BJ, hope you are doing okay.  Whew, what a year!

Buddy, I do not think wine interferes with arimidex, but the lexapro warnings say not to drink it.  I remember that as I took lexapro for awhile and I remember reading that alcohol was not good to mix with lexapro.

Gearing up for Memorial Day.  Both daughters and families are open to old-fashioned holidays so out comes the croquet game and boccie ball.  I love croquet!  Perfect game to play and chat at the same time. And even the three-year old can do it...sorta!   It would be nice to move up to golf, but unlikely for me.

Wendy...the lilacs.  I was brought up "Catholic-Saturated" and we did the Crowning of Mary each May at school.  My mom made a crown of lilacs for me and we even used blue crepe paper  to cover a table to create an altar for Mary.   Whenever I catch the scent of lilacs, I am back to being seven or so with all those memories. I was one funny little kid, but I loved it all.

So all, have a great week!

Good morning gals!   Welcome back, Donna!  It sounds like you are going to be one busy gal for the next few weeks.

Our area had one big thunderstorm last night.  As a result, the cat and I got very little sleep.  I had just potted all those plants and expected to see a disaster this morning, but they're all there!  For about 5 minutes, we even had some hail, which is not one of my favorite things!

Susan....good for you and your new exercise program.  I need to get back into walking.  This is the first year in a long time that I don't have a walking partner.  Although I like to walk, I tend to put it off if I'm not obligated to meet somebody and then before I know it, the day is over and I haven't walked.  I do always feel better when I incorporate a walk into my day and it helps to keep my weight down.

Well, today is a golf day and I need to get moving!  I'll catch you later.  Everyone have a great day!

    Morning,

I am listening to thunder and wondering how nice of a day we might not have.  It is as well grayish ( is that a word ) out as well.  It's going to be another long day more than likely -- with a couple of stops at the hospital maybe.  Met Maggie yesterday a.m. at McDonalds.  Left as Dh needed to be back home for work -- suddenly I guess Maggie was having tons of trouble breathing and an ambulance was called.

Denny is off today so we will go to hospital, pick up her car keys and stop at Mickey
D's to get her car and take it home for her.  Did I mention, yesterday was quite a day.  In addition to all the things I do ( not complaining -- just saying ) I stopped at the market for some veggies I needed....and lo and behold went in with shinning sun -- came out to pouring rain with crashing lightning all around and unbelievable thunder.  I got nicely wet -- pushed the cart away at one point the lightning seemed so close.  Not good to have a steel cart in your hand to act as a lighting rod for.  Decided I'd best stop by Mag's to close the windows in the kitty apt.  When I got to her house a little over a mile away from the store --- not one drop of rain and only some minor rumbling.  Makes you feel like you have either just entered the twilight zone or just left it.  Saw Maggie's car still in Mc.D lot as I went passed so rushed home with a little panic in the back of my mind....threw my spoilables in the fridge and checked the message phone -- had two from hospital employees.

Maggie will see a lung specialist -- which she should have had all along with her C.O.P.D.  Here's hoping

Ok -- that is the end of my vent/excitement from yesterday.  Today is just a work day as usual and as well, we have my new machines and hopefully will keep them up on the custom made so I can still fold  pedestal.  Sears repair has been called and will be out tomorrow.  They will order the needed part and hopefully I will be back washing clothes within the week.

Dh goes tomorrow for his long 5 hr. stress test.  I am still working on my bedroom, and have come so far and am thrilled about it.

    Onward with the day --

Still thinking and praying for ALL the Dads here.

Carolyn -- don't you know we are all going to enjoy your chemo with you....yummy.

    Hugs, Jackie

OK.. I was going to resist but after Carolyn's story have to add this one.. My MIL came over last Thursday.. looks at me and says:  "You started to pluck your eyebrows very thinly these days".. HELLO??!!!!  I have like 10 left on each brow..   One more tx tomorrow (yes, crossing fingers to have my counts stay well and get tx) and then I am 2/3 of the way done!!  Can't wait 'til it's over and I am able to go and finally join everyone for lunches and dinners!!

People say the darndest things! It's amazing how many awkward statements us bc victims must deal with. It's healthy to turn those statements around by knowing we would never say or do anything to upset anyone in a life altering situation.

Two that come to mind during my "hell":

Several people said, "well atleast now you'll get the boob job you always dreamed about." Which in reality...I'm not eligible for a boob job based on my dx - so therefore... that statement really stung.

And... a good friend, after I told her my bc dx was confirmed... said, "I will pray for you, but I have to run out to the store, will call you later". She never called or e-mailed me again. What a hypocrit!

Update on my Dad.  They think its a dropped gallstone from surgery 2 years ago.  One got dropped and he was sent to Nashville to have it removed.  Now they think there were 2 dropped and only one removed.  Causing infection.

Bj - So sorry to hear about your shoulder!  I think we need to wrap you in bubble wrap!

A lot to catch up on and apologies for not having the time to do anything but skim right now.

My shoulder is a lot better, but I just don't think it will ever be 100% again.  I tried taking a yoga class tonight and I'm not sure it was a great idea.  My neck and base of skull pains are still there, and it's well past the 2 week rule.  So, tomorrow I go for an MRI of my head and c-spine.  Got the Xanax all ready to go.  Am NOT looking forward to this again, but I also want to know that this is just all musculoskeletal pain and nothing else.  So, I take my Xanax, do the test and hope for the best.  I know you've all been there.

laura.. Never heard of lymph detox, only getting lymph draining from a special massage every two weeks? AND do not get me started on stupid people with stupid comments!!!!Like buddy...saying how someone dies because they had cancer etc..! Remember my SIL, saying to me in a crowded restaurant to her mom.. "wouldn't you like a new set like Donna's"!!! I have lost people in my life after BC and it has actually simplified my life as i hold onto the quality now and NOT  quanitity of people and what they offer etc.

susan...How did your bike ride go this past weekend? That is so awesome how you an your DH do the things you do and really go out there and enjoy!

Got some flowers done.. yipee. Have the service today for my friend's 12 year old son and am struggling what to say today. This is not the way it should be.. AT ALL.

    Good morning everyone,

This will be a long day for me.  Lots of work but mainly concern over dh being at Marion for his 5 hr. test.  Normally, I would have gone with him, but so much needing to happen here, that I had to stay here.  Maggie still in hospital -- who knows how much longer.

Buddy, it is good to finally know, huh!!  Our over-active imaginations just tend to to a job on us when something comes up.  Sometimes I don't know what is harder -- being sick yourself or having to watch, wait and experience it with a loved one.  I hope things turn around quickly now and your Dad is able to feel well again soon.

Laura & Donna, Isn't there a full body de-tox.  Maybe the lymph de-tox is just a part of that one.

Rene' I will be thinking about you tomorrow and praying that it turns out as you hope.  I can't recall with your shoulder, but so many seem to have to do the rotator cuff thing happen.

Need to get started I guess so will be checking in some time later.  See you all then.

    Hugs, Jackie

Morning all....sunny and warm!  I do wish we would get some of Jackie's rain tho...

Rene...sorry about your shoulder still bothering you.  Did they say what it was other than "frozen"?  Good luck with the MRI.  I guess I am lucky - they don't bother me, just loud and long.

Marina....almost there!!!  Funny about your eyebrows!

I've given up I think on my thumb so I called my PCP to get a name of the hand ortho.  There are 2 great ones out here, just wasn't sure which one would be less "cut-happy"!

We are set for a lunch-bunch on June 4th, Friday at 12:30pm at Maggiano's, right by Woodfield.  All are welcome!

Gotta scoot...off to the gym, then to Walgreens to pick up some more of those hated little white pills, then home to???  Maybe grass, maybe laundry...maybe library book on the deck!!!!!!  Have a great day!

Oh Rene, I did not know your neck was hurting you.  You and I are quite alike on the MRI.  The doctor gives me a prescription for TWO pills. I tried going without last year and the  technicians told me never to try that again.  I hope it all comes back just fine, which I truly feel it will.

We have baby birds in a birdhouse and the mom (or would that be the dad?) keeps going for worms.  Man, it is hard work being a new parent.

Wendy, I am reading The Piano Teacher for a book club.  It is just okay.  Let us know what you are reading.

Hope you are all well.  BJ, the countdown begins!

Another drive by post- getting ready to leave for Brevard after work tomorrow!  Won't be back until late Tuesday.

Michelle- I had a full tear rotator cuff injury, and had surgery for it right before I discovered my cancer.  I hope you only have a partial tear and that it heals fast.  If it's a full tear, I think the only thing they can do is the surgery.  That was pretty rough- it was weeks before I was allowed to move my shoulder and was probably the worst pain I ever had.  The PT was rough too- and then I found my cancer lymph node on the same side, and moved into a whole 'nother realm of medicine!

    Hi Ladies,

Just popping in to say "Hi" and let you know that I read the posts here often. It's been super humid and hot here in Quincy too. Hope it cools down for the weekend since we're going camping.

IllinoisLady, I am part cherokee also, only 1/32. I read somewhere that some native american bloodlines have a higher incidence of breast cancer. My great aunts were 1/8 and they had it too. Oh what a heritage LOL.

    Take care...Mazy

Jackie and Mazy  I am also part Cherokee.  I think 1/8th.  My background comes from the trail of tears.  Thats as far as we can trace it.  We are not registered with any of the reservations.

Evening, and how interesting to find two more Cherokees here.  Mazy, you have me pretty well convinced on the native american thingy.  There are three of us right here.  My Aunt once told me that we were related to the Indian lady on the ? quarter.  Now I doubt I get this spelling anywhere close but I think the name is Sacajewaha -- pronounced "sack uh ja weigh uh.  I am not good with genealogy so leave it up to my family to "fill" me in on the details and hope I remember them.

Had a great day -- lots accomplished.  I'm bushed but came home  to see my 7 year old Maytags sitting in the dining room.  Dh told me a friend had called and  thought he might have a buyer.  It not, my friend will come and get them and put them in the covered yard sale.  It is a building downtown and people are free to put things in to sell.  This will save me big time on an ad.

JanClare, I felt for certain someone here had talked about a rotator cuff problem, but my brain cells turn on and off at their will not mine ---  so try as I might that is as far as I could get.  Glad you said something -- I can now try to regain as least a small amt. of faith in myself and my I'll do it when and if I feel like it memory.

Ok, then -- got to go cook for Maggie's animals.  She does not yet know when they will release her.  Probably will be a nearly spur of the minute thing and suddenly I'll get a call to go get her.  Hope this does not come today or tomorrow.  I have little flexibility on my Realty Office days.

    See you all sometime tomorrow.

    Hugs, Jackie

Hey Mazy!  So good to see a post from you!  I think of you every so often and have hoped that all was going well for you.  I seldom make it to the chat room anymore.  It looks like we're due for continuing hot weather through the weekend.  Enjoy your camping trip.

We don't have a lot planned for the weekend.  We have a golf outing on Memorial Day and Dave is playing in a Men's Scramble on Sunday.  Other than that, we footloose and fancy free.  Sometimes we have more fun with our "spur of the moment" activities.  I hope everyone is feeling well and getting in gear for a fun holiday weekend.  What special plans do you have?

Oh Marina, the avatar is wonderful.  I just saw it now! How are you coming along? I just cannot imagine going through all this with a tiny baby, but I guess you just do what you have to do no matter.  Your children are so beautiful!

Rita, you gave me an idea with the walking partner and so I called an old friend I know likes to walk.  She too is a teacher and so I am waiting for the school year to end for her.  I am thinking we could do it two mornings/week.

OMG, mentioned here that the book The Piano Teacher was just okay.  Well, it started out slow but it is fantastic now.  I would suggest it to anyone looking for a book.

    Elf, where are you?

Cool about all the Cherokee blood!

    See you all later.
