Summer is so good!
Jackie, now that you mention it, I was somewhat nonchalant about the mri findings. That is significant. Two years ago I would have been so preoccupied and filled with worry. I wasn't and that must mean something. I knew I was in Wisconsin with my dear friends and I wanted to just soak in the fun, sun, conversation (gossip too), kids and the joy of being alive. So I think I am moving on. It helps when the news is good; let's face it.
Today was a hammock day. I was in our hammock with my second daughter for nearly 3 hours and we just talked and laughed and kept an alert eye for the family of skunks living in the woods behind us. I thought skunks were nocturnal. This family comes out at noon!
Laura, how was the art class? I can just hear and see you guiding the kids along. You are perfect for this sort of thing as you are nurturing and encourage creativity. What was the activity you chose? I would like to do more art with my grandchild. We do chalks, finger paints and play do, and I love all these activities.

Morning! Very warm and sticky out...I was up at 5 and it was alreay 74. Cloudy and I see the rain approaching on radar. Next week looks glorious....highs in the 70's and sunny, nights in the 50's for good sleeping with no A/C!
BJ....sounds like you had a great time! Is your MIL still with you? How's her house? So sorry about your friend's house...how scary but thankfully they were down in the basement.
Laura...are you racing yet? How did the class go?
Jackie....you have how many cats????? Wow. That's all I can say....wow. Any plans for a trip out to CA anytime soon?
Rita....I love pontoon boats too! I love to go fast on the water but there is something to say about just cruising along. I did quite a bit of fishing in my younger days but haven't had a pole in my hands for at least 35 years. I was an excellent caster tho....good wrist action!
Carolyn....glad you are back home! When's your next chemo?
Marina....how is it being home? What's next on your schedule of treatment?
I haven't been out cruising in the Z....it seems whenever I have the time, it's either so hot or it's raining! This week for sure! I actually would welcome some time with DH. He won a free 3 month trial to the Centre in Elgin and he has discovered working out! He loves it. He has gone twice a few days. So he works out for and hour (or 2!) and comes home and falls asleep. Oh well....at least the weight is going down, down, down so that is great. Not much going on today....we were gone all day on Friday and yesterday we went to Swedish Days in
Geneva and then had the bright (ok....stupid) idea to drive all the way up to Fox Lake for dinner. The angle of the sun of course is much different than at lunch so no way to block the sun even with umbrellas. Talk about hot! Wow.Hope you all have a great Sunday, even if it is a little wet!

Hi Friends. I just wanted to say Hello, We have been busy having a yard sale. Lots or work and the heat was a bit much for me. My dear friend asked me to join her at the Cancer support Center for the Breast Cancer support group. I am really looking forward to it.

Hi everyone.......wow !!!! Another scorcher today with rotten humidity. I'm not liking it, but what can you do. Hopefully, the storms they say are coming tonight will cool it off as they are predicting. That would be nice.
I won't be doing to much out of doors again today. Dh got the lawn mowed yesterday so at least it looks great outside --- until you walk out the door. Sigh !!!!
Yep -- I have 32 cats here just now. Don't know for sure how long. Susan has yet to find a house to buy and find a job too. Double challenge. Hope both go well.
Hope you will all keep well hydrated for the present --- Buddy was brave to have a yard sale in this weather -- though you can't predict when you pick the date for things like this. Also, though we like to cheat.....water is really the best. Cokes, tea, coffee -- a little is ok, but make most of your liquids water only.
I'll be checking back later.
Hugs, Jackie

You are so right jackie. I have been drinking almost a gallon of sun tea a day. It tastes so much better than plain old water. Sometimes I wonder if I am drinking too much of it.

Good morning you gorgeous Illinois Ladies!
Well, I guess it was destined to happen sooner or later - I noticed that my hair is starting to fall out. Not a lot, just at the sides of my temples. Noticed it this a.m. and just sighed!
When I came home yesterday from grocery shopping I immediately took off my wig as I was sweating so much from our wonderful hot, humid weather. Later I ordered a pizza and before I even realized it, I opened the door to the delivery peson WITHOUT ANYTHING ON MY HEAD! It wasn't until I shut the door that I realized that the delivery person was the first and only person to see me without my wig on. Yikes! But, now that I think about it, he didn't even look at me weird. So I guess I must not look as horrid as I think I do.
Back in April (pre-diagnosis) I was starting on the Medifast diet plan, but once I found out that I had BC and my Oncologist said NO SOY (especially soy isolate protein), the boxes have been sitting on my kitchen counter taking up space. Well I bit the bullet today and put them on eBay. Hopefully I'll recoup some of my money that I originally spent on them. I have LOTS of weight to lose, but a sensible eating plan is best for me now. Even my Oncologist asked me if I was trying to lose weight. I told him I'm trying but it's not coming off in a few weeks. After all, it took me about 10 years to gain all this weight (it's a LONG story), and it will take me a long time to get it off. But I'm trying to make good eating decisions and will keep plugging along. And if I have the same SE as last tx, I should drop another few pounds from going to the bathroom all the time
!Well, I hope everyone stays cool today - we already had a thunderstorm come through today, but the sky looks like it's clearing now.
Have a great day ladies!

Hello Everyone. It has been several weeks since I have posted. Istill visit occasionally and try to keep up. I have good news to report......my PET scan results are good. Even the worrisome lymph node in my armpit is getting smaller. My Onc said to come back in 6 mo and get on with the business of living life. I am feeling good and trying to be more active everyday.
Mentally I have been in a very sad place. A friend of mine has died after a 2 year battle with brain cancer. My DH and Her DH have been close friends for the past 35 years. They have been a great support to each other while us gals went through surgeries and chemo. And Now one wife is gone. She was one of the kindest people I have ever known. Never said a bad word about anyone and could always find a glimmer of sunshine in any situation. Life is so unfair sometimes
Thanks for listening.

Hi gals!
We took the boat out EARLY this morning to fish and caught a few catfish before the storm blew in. Needless to say, we got a little wet putting the cover on the pontoon but we had a good time. Now I'm trying to organize all the donations for our golf Rally for the Cure on Wednesday. (Let's hope there's no rain that day!) How I admire all of you that are computer savy and can whip up neat-looking designs and posters! It's taking me forever to get an organized list ready and to make the bucket numbers, etc. I will feel so proud of myself when I finally get it accomplished and it's not going to be anything fancy either!
Brat...sorry to hear that the hair is starting to release. It's a pretty traumatic time.
Glad your sister won in Vegas, Blackjack! It's always more fun when SOMEBODY in the group is winning and of course, it's even more fun when it's you! I love that city!!!!
Well, I'm back to organizing donations. I hope we make LOTS of money for Susan G. on Wednesday!

Navy, so sorry about your loss. My Dh's good friend is married to my best friend. We have laughed together, raised kids and shared lives for years! The guy has stage IV colon cancer and is fighting it tooth and nail. To lose him would/will be awful. I just know you are feeling a void now with your friend gone. I am so sorry. How wonderful that you remember her as being so filled with grace!
You go, Rita. Good for you for fighting this beast in such a proactive way. I think with this economy, donations are down, so all the money you can raise is needed!

Navy - I am so sorry about your friend. This disease needs a frickin cure! I'm glad your PET went well.
blackjack - Good for your sis! Glad you had fun...although not that you'd ever NOT have fun in LV. Your friends house...OMG! How scarey!
Rita - Good luck! You really are a busy one!
Wendrew - Nope! The Rkn Goat is still getting tuned! Argh!

Good morning everyone,
Such a big day yesterday that I did not get back -- not too tiresome a day, but enjoyable in spite of the humid temps. Nothing too new to report. We here are becoming fast friends with Susan and her wonderful cats. We went out for dinner at a Mexican restaurant ( yum ) early in the evening before the storm hit. Should lose the humidity by this afternoon.
Buddy, there are people who have no trouble at all with iced tea ( love it myself ) but others react to the tanic acid. There is a lot of water in tea and coffee and I know our bodies use some of it --- we actually attempt by drinking water only to not make our bodies have to digest substances in our other liquids.I'm sure you were better off drinking tea as opposed to not drinking much of anything.
Brat, into each chemo patient for the most part some hair must fall out. I'm sure part of our identification is our hair --- mine was always the sort of difficult kind --- thin, fine, stringy etc. Still, losing even highly imperfect hair is hard to take. We have had it ( inglorious as it may often be ) for such a long time ) and though I felt so many people I saw actually managed to look really good --- make-up done well, earrings etc. I could not "see it" in myself. I switched between wigs, and scarves the whole time and ditched them the second I felt I could appear ( with spiked hair ) when my hair returned.
Navy, so sorry about your friend. As Susan so aptly said -- there is a void and it takes time to accept and get used to it. You feel a little guilty sometimes when you feel good, happy, laugh etc. I am thrilled about the scan. When you feel a bit more serene and accepting about the loss of your friend......you will have something truly special to celebrate.
A word about diets --- my first couple I did well, but I was so stern with myself and very consistently lost. Now -- life is different and I'm REALLY ok with slower, a little less controlled and much more focus on all of my life -- not just my three meals a day.
Hope you will all have a really great day and that any humidity drifts away and any complications you meet with turn out to be the smallest. I'll be hopefully checking in later.
Hugs, Jackie

Hi I am new to the forum but not new to BC. I was first diagnosed in 2006 with tumor on each side and in lymph nodes on each side...went with double masec...had it all removed then preceded to do some "big red" chemo and then some Taxol, which by the way caused me lots of joint pain. I was in remission for about 4 years, until recently i acquired some ascitis fluid and found a mass on my ovary. And it turned out to be metastic bc returned. I have now had a complete hyster. and am facing 4 rounds of taxotere. First one of these is tomorrow. Onc says it shouldn't effect the joints like the taxol does, we shall see. I am from Springfield area. Even at stage 4, they couldn't find any other signs besides that one mass, so I am still hopeful of another remission at the least.

Morning everyone. It looks like it will be a warm sunny day. Ahhh sunshine. Hope everyone is having a wonderful fun filled summer. Life is good when you are busy with family and friends.
Rita....welcome to the world of boating. Yes I too have been caught in the rain a few times while boating... but what is a little rain. lol I hope you have a good day for your golf event. We do a wine and dine 9 rounds of golf every week. It is fun and we had one gal get a hole in one last week. It was her first. I am still waiting for mine lol.
Laura...craft girl, loving it. Hope you are having a great summer. Is your goat car ready to run yet?
Jackie....how is the kitty babysitting coming along. You must be so busy with those cute babies. How is your back feeling...better. Is dh feeling better too.
Wendy.....girlfriend how are you doing? You must be on that beach chair all day. lol FYI I found some great low airfare to FL for Thanksgiving, but you have to be on line at 3am. The best deals are in the middle of the night. Is dh enjoying his vacation.
Navy...sorry to hear about your friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend's family. Time will heal all wounds. remember the good times and they will bring you comfort. Good scan results yeah!!!!
Cybernimf.....Welcome to our little group. Sorry you have to join this club. There are many of us here that have been through chemo. Good luck on your first tx. Post often as we can offer you support. There are a few girls here that are from your area. Hopefully they will be on line. Sending you healing hugs your way.
Zap...good news on your MRI. We like good news. Yeah. Looks like you are having a wonderful summer. Boating, lunch, friends...life is good.
Well I am off and running today. We are having a big July 4th party this weekend so I have lots to do. Hope you have a wonderful fun filled day. Summer is here !!!!!!!!

Good morning and special hello to cybernimh. That whole spead of cancer after dormant years is hard to understand. I am sorry it has returned but many people here will be "near" you while you go through all this chemo again.
My DH was up early this morning and spotted a coyote in our backyard. We are like so suburbia and now I am wondering if that coyote would ever attack my cat. I take my cat outdoors but never leave her alone. She is so old that she just flops down on the deck and enjoys herself. Hmmmm! Sounds just like me.
Laura, let me know when you are doing the goat drive. I would like to try to see you if I can.
I am reading The Help.......oh so good! Many people are talking about it. Speaking of books, an author is looking at the first 15 pages to determine if my young adult novel is "publishable" which I suspect it is not. The competition is so fierce and good authors are a dime a dozen these days. I guess I never really believed that would happen and I can live with it as my own daughter loves it! The other one is too busy with kids to read a recipe, let alone a book.
Have a great day. I am thinking about you Rita and all the work you are doing for a great cause,
Susan

Good morning,
It is a fantastic morning outside. Warm, but the humidity did a disappearing act during the night. O Happy Day. I see up above I once again turned into a real blabber mouth. Sigh !!!!
Cats --- I'm definitely up to my eyeballs here. Feeding last night and someone had "left" a little kitty there at west side of Wal-Marts. I'm sure they didn't know their was a family of raccoons --- very un-safe for a small kitten who had been handled a lot. Though raccoons and cats get along to a degree.....hungry raccoons and kitties would not really mix. So, it is home here with me now quarantined in a crate. Did I indicate I am truly disgusted with people who do these sorts of things. The kitty was very friendly and in extreme danger at that feeding site. Enough about that....I will just get really angry all over again. Didn't need another mouth to feed....sigh!!!!
Looking forward to today. Lots to catch up on. Had to make Maggie go to the hospital yesterday and they got her bp down and some fluids in her so I picked her up and got her home again. Long day and I did not get all accomplished I should have.....so today HAS to be the good day now and it will be.
Cyber welcome to you. We wish we could close the doors to this club, but so far we still have to be here and there is plenty of room. There are lots of great ladies here -- very supportive and caring so please do come back often.
Well, might as well start my day. Got lots of animals that are going to be wanting something. Not that I truly mind --- but just to be honest -- once in awhile it does get to me. Along with laundry and vacuuming -- guess which ones I get lazy about. See you all later.
Hugs, Jackie

Good morning everyone. I think the reality of not having to work is finally settling in as I just start my day!! Yesterday took the older kids to the mall.. and had a blast acting like the 'good old days' when we used to go there and spend the day.. My make-up girl there is pregnant so we brought her a gift.. was so nice to feel NORMAL.. and not think as much about me.. but just be there with my kids.. bought everyone a few treats.. my son said.. "I'm looking forward to fall now that I have all these cool clothes".. too funny!!
Found the community afgan link thanks to Laura.. so made my first square last night while watching Bachlorette with my older one. This and learning to cook will definitely keep me busy..
Beautiful day out so far.. going to try to get started on it.. and hope everyone is enjoying it as well...
Cyber - welcome.. I am currently in treatment, so any tips/tricks.. let me know and I'm more than happy to talk..

Jackie, Your wonderful, I am so proud to say I know you. You saved a precious little life. I agree how can people be so neglegant. Why take on animals if your not prepared to comit to them for their entire life. That poor little darling. Maybe you can find a small little piece in your heart to keep it. Like you need one more. I think you should name it Wally for Walmart or Lucky for you finding it.

Hello, ladies~!
What a great day... We're supposed to be at the Taste of Chicago today but my dh changed his mind and wants to go on Saturday.. bummer... kids were excited they got to ride the train to Chicago but it didn't happen and they were disappointed..
Of course, dh came up with excuses but I kinda guess this might happen.. most of time when he said we are gonna doing something or going somewhere, it won't happen and I hate that.. He wants to see this band on Saturday event and he gotta things to do and etc... I told him he could've done other things while I'm gone and kids were still sleeping.. since he got up at 3 am and he had more than enough time... omg, I should kick his butt... that makes me mad.. it was his idea to go to Taste of Chicago... So, we'll see if we can make it to the Taste of Chicago on Saturday... I doubt it.. I will be surprise if we make it...I went my second PT this morning and she did great job and I could just fall asleep right there again... it hurts little bit when she tried to break the cording but at the end it was very relaxing.. and she told me my arm is getting better already, she could feel the differences compare to first visit..
Navy- Sorry to hear about your friend... and hooray for your scan~!!!
Susan- glad to hear your mri scan went well and normal...
Laura- I am happy to hear that your done with PT...
Buddy- how are you?? how's your arm??
Cyber- welcome and sorry you have to deal with this again... hang in there...
Marina- I am glad you had great time with the kids and feeling normal again...
Oh, well, kids and dh is taking nap... I like it~!!! This is my OWN time and I am kind of getting hungry though... hhmmmm what can I eat...

I hope everyone is enjoying this sunshine day~!!!

Hello everyone- *waves*
Don't have time for much, but wanted to stop by. Two things I wanted to comment:
Cyber- I'm so sorry that you have to join us here. It especially stinks after so many years. I hope your treatments go well.
Elf- How old are your kids? The reason I ask is that when my sons were little we tried going to the Taste on the 4th of July weekend- and it was AWFUL with the crowds. So many people that we could not get through, I had to have a death grip on the boys or they were going to be swept away. They were 4 & 6, and they were terrified because they were just jammed up against all these adults. Bad enough getting through the crowds when you are a taller adult, but with short kids- it was actually scary! Just saying that you might want to think about it.. (yeah, today would have been much better!)
Sorry that it's a hit and run post. I hope we can get together for a BC lunch (Sweet Tomatoes??) soon! How about Tuesday, July 13th- is anyone available for that date?
Blessings to all, and healing vibes to all in treatment!

Makmak, glad you are enjoying time with the kids, sorry it is under the present circumstances. I am not a cook, but I enjoy reading the above blog--tho I won't make probably any of these recipes they seem realistic even for the rank amateur. I started radiation yesterday and will go thru 2nd week of August....

zap: <<I am wondering if that coyote would ever attack my cat. I take my cat outdoors but never leave her alone. She is so old that she just flops down on the deck and enjoys herself.>>
Be very careful of the coyote! I had a friend in a rural area and she let her cat outside for 5 minutes and when she looked out the window she saw the coyote high-tailing it out of her yard with the cat in its mouth. She chased it for about a mile and the coyote finally dropped her cat, but it was too late. I cried my eyes out!
Welcome to our new members! So sorry you have to be here but this is a great group with lots of support and encouragement!
Weather here is GORGEOUS! 70 degrees with NO humidity. And I have to spend it in the hospital today. Drat. But with this tx I will be halfway through! WOOO HOOO! Got all my pills for SE (diflucan for thrush, lomotil for diarrhea, steroids for swelling and acidophillis for healthy bacteria. Hopefully I won't need them.
My brother's birthday is 7/4 and he and his wife have invited me to go to Arlington Park Race Track for the day. Had to tell them "maybe". If my schedule goes like last time, I probably won't want to be far from the bathroom and might not have the energy. Crashed last tx on the 3rd and 4th days.
Well I hope everyone has a wonderful humidity free day - take advantage of the outside today cause you know our Illinois weather can change in an instant!

Thank u all for the nice welcome. I have been through all this b4, so none of this is new to me, but just am here for anyone else that might have questions. I am very big on positive attitude....it's what got me through the first time, and what will get me through now. Of course, God, is always there too. Just took my first taxotere treatment, am just waiting for the hair to fall out....Last time I just cut it all off, this time, I cut it short, but left it until I see bald spots. Never know? hehe....I used to have a cat, but he recently died a few months ago. So, i resort to bird watching...have several feeders in my yard. In fact, am watching the finches and cardinals outside my window right now - one of my pleasures. Wonderful weather compared to last week....windows are open and I love it. I am recovering from surgery, so will be home a few more weeks, and won't complain.

Hi All!
Welcome cyber! Just went for a walk and am pooped! But it was good to get out and get some exercise. What wonderful weather we're having.
Went to work yesterday just to visit and see people and manager took me to lunch. It was really great to see everyone.
My next treatment is 7/7/10. Hopefully the next treatment will go as well as the last one. Still no signs of hair loss. I found a 2nd wig on line that I really like not sure if I should buy it.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Take care.

Hi gals..........
This is just a drive-through post, too. We had our golf Rally for the Cure today. It was a LONG day. Wendy and I got to the golf course a little before 7 this morning and I just got home a little bit ago. I am happy to report that we earned over $5,300 for Susan G. Komen today and our men still have a rally event, the proceeds of which will be added. Who knows? Maybe this will help get us that cure!
I'm off to bed...........welcome to the new gals! Cyber, I'm in Bloomington so I'm not too far from you either!
More tomorrow.........
