Rita....wow that is wonderful that your group raised so much money for Susan B Komen. Every bit helps us to finding a cure. Perfect weather for golf. l start my lessons again on Friday. We have a wine and dine event every week. 9 rounds of golf then wine and dinner. yum. Hope you have a great weekend.

Good morning girls! Hope you are all doing well.

I have been busy...my art classes are going well. I hired my friend's daughter to assist me - it's working out very well! Yesterday I did a massive house cleaning...7 hours total and I'm only about 2/3's done. Baseboards, dusting, scrubbing...yikes...I want a smaller house. lol Today I reward myself...7 hours at my friend's pool! lol Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Unbelievable...our GOAT is still in the shop. I am so frustrated and piss**! And man did I let dh know! lol

I can make it on the 13th - will it be a dinner bunch? I teach that day, but my class ends at 5:00 and I could be there by 6:00.

    Welcome Cyber!

Have a nice day. Going to the "Y" and then the pool! Be well, girls.

Rita, congratulations.  YUou made a difference.

I am headed for Glen Ellyn for a day with the to little girls.

Laura, your art class sounds like so much fun!  I wish I could take it!  I love to see kids creating!

I agree about Chicago Taste as not as great as Navy Pier for kids.  If you could walk around the pier  and have the boys choose a boat ride....that would be fun.  I took my niece and nephew there.  We had lunch at Billy Goat gruff which turned out to be reasonable as compared to other restaurants there. The Pier is expensive, but fun!  My daughter took a picture of me on the wonderful merry go round there which will become my new avatar if we can figure how to get it on.

Have fun and thanks for the tips about my cat and the coyote.  The cat is now on a leash when we go out.  She is a geeky cat and I am a geeky cat owner so the neighbors are used to our geekiness.

    Good morning,

Carolyn, hang in there.  Have you considered pretty scarves etc. for the summer heat, or at least for around home.  Just thinking wigs are sorta hot.  Glad things are going good otherwise.

Buddy, I was so close to calling the new kitty Wally --- thought it was a cute name, but then changed my mind to Whitecloud.  He is a charcoal grey tabby tiger-stripe but underneath his mouth on his chin is all white --- like a little cloud.  I do know that everyone who hears his name will automatically start calling him Graycloud.....but I'll have to keep correcting it till they get it right.

In addition to his first trip to the vet along with one of my older cats ( Little Bonnie ) I spent three and a half hours on the phone with a tech from Microsoft.  I'm resentful about the price but I have to admit....if I didn't know better I'd think it was a brand new computer.  It is so fast again.  They said spyware --- I just don't figure how so much got there.  I am going to have to watch for that I think.  Also intend to talk to Charter but in the main I probably should automatically clear the cookies out at the end of every day.

I'm looking forward to the 4th.  Cookout at someone's house -- not sure just yet.  Seems like summer is picking up speed now and so many things I have not done.  Maybe if some of the cooler temps hold out.....and time will permit, I'll get some things done in the yard.  I'll see you all later.

    Hugs, Jackie

    Hi All!

I must have jinxed myself! No sooner do I say no sign of hair loss than what happens in the shower this morning?  Yep! You guessed - hair is coming out in handfuls.  I just made the call to my hairdresser to just get it all shaved off but this is a harder call than I would have thought.  Don't know why. I was fully prepared for this.  Oh well.  It has to be done.  This is just too messy.

On a funny note I must tell you my funny kitty story.  I took a walk around the lake by my house and was all sweaty and really wanted to get in the shower so when my cat had a little hairball issue I decide to jump in the shower first and deal with the hairball later.  When I came out of the shower I found  a large towel moved over on top of the hairball and a car air freshner from a bag on the floor a few feet away moved next to the towel.  Just imagine the sight of it.  I never laughed so hard.  What a smart little kitty cat.  It made forget about losing my hair!  Hope you all got a laugh out of it too.

    Have a nice day!

Carolyn, you are a real trooper sweetie, but you are never really prepared to watch a part of yourself die, even if you know that it is temporary.  Our hair is who we are -- even if we should be so much more.  It is a painful loss and you are acknowledging that.  I hope it will help you get over the hump and onto getting through what is always an ordeal.

    See you soon.

Laura, So glad that the classes are working well for you.  Kids are so much fun.  I will have my oldest grandson this next week and I'm so excited.  I just keep thinking about how much fun Susan has had with her grandchildren and how much fun we're going to have!

Today is simply beautiful!  I had my top down and just let that wind blow my hair all over the place!

Carolyn, the hair issue is always such a "biggie" for us.  I think we women have spent so many hours on our hair that it's very traumatic when it finally releases.  Often it grows back in curly and sometimes that is a really attractive look.  In the meantime, we loose a part of our identity.  Hang in there.  Just remember that you are beating this....one treatment at a time!   Hugs to you!

I have a kitty story, too.  Tuesday night I called and called for Ms. Sissy, the feral cat that came to reside at our house about 3 years ago.  She never misses a meal but she didn't come.  I put out her bowl before going to golf league and most of her food was still in it when I got home.  She didn't appear for breakfast Wednesday morning but we had that golf out and I had to be at the club early, so I put out fresh food and left.  When I got home, the food was untouched.  I walked the lane and the creek bank, calling and calling.......no Miss Sissy.  Then this morning I called for her and I heard a frantic meowing but couldn't place where it was coming from.  I finally realized that it was coming from the garage.  When I went into the garage, there she was and she hightailed it out of there.  She had evidentally ventured in on Tuesday night when I was packing all the donations in the car and I shut her in.  I can't figure out why she didn't run out Wednesday morning when I took out the golf cart but she is now safe and really irritated with me.

Well I need to write a few questions and should get busy.  I hope that everyone is having a good day.

    Rita

Well, I need to write a few questions this afternoon so I'd better get moving.

Good evening you gorgeous Illinois Ladies!

Well, I'm VERY happy to report that it's the 2nd day after my 2nd chemo and NO SIDE EFFECTS!  YES!  Nice normal BM, no white tongue (yet - fingers crossed) and food doesn't taste funny.  The RN did tell me that you usually don't have the same effects as the 1st chemo.  Again, keeping fingers crossed!

I really hope I can remain SE free - I want to go to Arlingon Park Race Track on the 4th for my brothers Bday (GOD he's going to be 60!  How did we get so old!).

Yes, cats are so funny with their little quirks and cute ways.  Be lost without my fur babies.  There is a really cute article on cats and their propensity for visiting you in the bathroom.  If interested read it here:

    http://cats.about.com/b/2010/06/26/why-do-cats-seek-attention-in-bathrooms.htm?nl=1

Tomorrow is going to be a very boring day at work - everyone (almost) is taking the day off so it will be VERY quite tomorrow.  Bringing a book with me to read.

Still haven't lost a lot of hair.  Every morning and when I get home from work I take my wig off and put some witch hazel on a cotton pad and swab my head.  Get a few hairs on the pad, but not too many.  And here I was hoping for curly hair!  Well, I do have 2 more tx to go so it may still fall out yet.  We shall see.

Well I hope everyone has a nice relaxing, calm 4th of July weekend.  The weather is supposed to be sort of nice until Monday I think when some rain might come in.  But like our Illinois weather is prone to do, wait five minutes - it will change!

Have a safe holiday weekend all!

Morning all....I agree...this weather is simply beautiful!  In a bit I am out the door in the Z for a cruise....no gym for me this am as the lawn is waiting for me and with my hill I certainly count that as exercise!

Carolyn...glad you a feeling better and that you got a chance to stop in at work.  Your cat story was hilarious.  Yeah....the hair thing was so hard.  But then...once it was gone I cried myself silly and .... that was that.  It was gone.  Oh well.  If you can swing it, buy several wigs!  Maybe try a really short one, a different color....might as well have some fun!  Wonder if your cat will recognize you!

BJ....I am sooo jealous!  Have a wonderful weekend!  I can't make it on the 13th as we will be leaving for vacay....my beach chair awaits...

Rita....sounds like you had a great time and raised lots of money!  And boy...will you have fun next week!  You will need a rest from the kids....

Welcome Cyber!  Glad you found us...we are a fun bunch...

Brat...sounds like you are doing so well!  Fingers crossed for you for no se's!

Laura....sorry the Goat is still down...you didn't have it last year and you still don't have it now....what the heck takes so long?  I guess it is all done by hand, correct?

Jan...saw on FB that your LE is kicking up...gentle hugs going out to you...rest up this weekend if you can, ok?

Jackie....you need a vacay!  But then...who would take care of all the things/pets/people that you do???  I don't think you could ever be replaced!  And that is wonderful...to be irreplaceable!  Try and get out on that pretty deck this weeknd tho and just chill a bit....take some time for yourself, ok?  Nothing wrong with that!

I am doing well and loving this weather!  DH is enjoying his summer...in the gym!  He loves working out!  Who knew...and he is losing pounds and inches...a lot of them.  I am so proud of him!  See the onc next week for my now yearly check-up and of course, I am dreading it.  I have no issues and just saw the rad onc in April and was fine but you girls know how it feels to walk into that office and see all the cancer patients...I hate that place!  My thumb is good too....no more problems so yay!  for cortisone.

I hope that I get used to this little netbook...it is soooo tiny compared to my laptop but this way I can bring you all to Florida with me on vacay in 2 weeks....who wants to come along with me?  I think I can post pix from my sd card too.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and get out there and enjoy life, wherever you are in tx...this isn't a dress rehearsal, there are no do-overs!  Get out and LIVE!!!!!!!

    Hi All!

It's over and done! I went this afternoon to my hair stylist and had my hair shaved off.  Honestly, I think it was more traumatic for her than it was for me.  She's been doing my hair for 7 or 8 years.  We made it fun.  She cut it first and then we shaved it into a mohawk and one point I looked like chicken little.  We were laughing the whole time.  She helped me style my wig and I look like my little ol' self.  Took the wig off at home and went to see the cat but he doesn't at all seem phased by the missing hair.  LOL

    Take Care!

Carolyn....so glad that you could laugh during the shaving of the locks!  I'm sure your wig looks real cute.

Wendy, I knew your yearly appointment was drawing near.  I had my mammo and check with the surgeon in Peoria today and all was good.  I go in 4 weeks for my onc visit and the bloodwork.  I know the feelings that you're experiencing.  Some say that it gets easier with time, but I think I'll always experience the anxiety of the visits.  I had a strange lump this time, too, that sure didn't help the anxiety but it was radiation scar tissue that had appeared when the surrounding tissue shrunk up.  Well, I guess it's been there since the radiation but only became noticeable once the surrounding tissue shrivelled up.

I'm offf to put my feet up before meeting the golf gang for supper.  I sure would have rather been golfing today!   LOL

Edited to bring the drama down a notch.I pulled out my lower back as I have done about five times in my adult life.  I almost started crying as I love the fourth and now I do not know what to expect.  So I am icing, heating, allevinng it with pills and full rest.   I became all emotional as the pain is hard.  Now I am calmer.  It is not like my daughter's wedding is in 48 hours, or that our jet is departing for Spain or I am running after a coyote with a cat in his jaws.  It is Fourth of July and it will happen with or with me. I am calmer but still frustrated.

Anyway, happy fourth weekedn to all.  I just might be able to stabilize this sucker.

Happy 4th of July Sat. from the lake. It looks like it will be another hot day today. I am lovin this hot weather. The lake was soooo perfectly calm and like glass yesterday. Not to many boats out yesterday... but today lots will be out there cruising. My son the chef created a wonderful fish dish last night for me. I took a pic of it but don't know how to post it. Anyway it was so perfect and yummy. I am soo excited that he will be cooking turkey on the beach for us this year. It has been so long that I had both kids with me for a holiday and I am looking forward to spending time with them on the beach in my beach chair. Ahhhh life is good. Today is the day that I have all my dd friends over for the big sleep over weekend. The band will be jammin ! I hope the neighbors don't mind. lol

Carolyn... I am glad to see you are healing and taking baby steps in the right direction. As the others have commented on the hair thing. It is just hair and it will grow back, but yes it is who we are. Have fun with your new wigs and shine.

Rita....have fun with your little ones. In a blink they are big ones. lol Oh I wish for those baby days way back when. lol Have a great 4th with them.

Zap...sorry to hear about your back troubles. Rest, rest and more rest. Heat and meds work for me. Gentle stretching exercises work too. Hope you are up and about soon. Remember no heavy lifting.

Wendy....life is good when you are driving with the top down and the wind in your hair. Glad to hear that dh is having fun at the gym and losing. good for him. Soon he will be hot and buffy looking. lol watch out ! Good news on your md appts. Down to yearly... life is good.

Laura... craft classes are doing great. yeah!! sunning and pool time.. perfect. Hope your goat gets fixed soon.. need to race soon.

Jackie....how are your little kitties. Yesterday while throwing out the trash a huge raccoon jumped out of the dumpster and flew over my shoulder. Scared the sh*t out of me...dropped the trash and ran screaming home. I never saw such a big animal staring at me with big eyes. So no more trowing out the trash at dusk. lol

Cyber... hope you are feeling well.

Brat...hope you are feeling well too.

To everyone else I missed hope you all are having a wonderful fun filled 4th weekend. Life is good after bc.. so enjoy the moment. Have fun with family and friends.

Remember to be healthy...be happy.. have a great weekend. Enjoy the fireworks.

Big wave to all from the lake.

    Good fantastic morning,

It is a great morning here.  I am going to have a wonderful day where I make things go right.  Bj, I thought I was going to fall off my chair laughing.  I would imagine you startled that poor raccoon just as much as it startled you.  They really do not desire interaction with us --- though I.G.A. Rocky will stay at his food dish as long as I don't try to approach him.  Pig that he is.  Anyway, all the noise you produced making your exit will surely give some pause for thought should he/she desire to have another dining soiree' at the dumpster.

Susan, that is the pits and I so feel for you as well.  You know --- we forget that a time comes when we should not be as "able and powerful" as we were at 20 or so.  But you feel so good that this thought only comes after the fact.  I know I walk around feeling at least 20 or so years younger than what my "real"age says I am.  We all need to cut back just a little I guess though I wish I didn't.

Carolyn, I still say you are one heck of a trooper.  Your hair-stylist has it going on.  How great that she helped you erase most of the trauma and turned things into a chance for some cleansing laughter.  Next time you see her, give her a hug from me.

Wendy....one of these days you'll have to share a picture with us of the new and improved hubby.  Seriously, I am really glad that he is enjoying the gym and gaining such health benefits.  After he retires from the school system you and he can open a ( for married people only ) gym.  Here is where you can either "slug" it out or get healthy.

Rita --- grandkids and grandparents -- a match made in heaven for sure.

See you all later.  I'm off to start my big day.

    Hugs, Jackie

Thanks!  Yes, I know Wendy, you get it. I worry every  time the back goes out that this is life forever...pain and no life.  I am better.  I am not perfect yet, but I am better.  I think part of getting better was acknowledging  to myself that I was going to my daughter's  fourth party she has planned in her new house with family and friends no matter. The pain is not bad when I lay prone or stand, so my best friend suggested  I just lay on a recliner lawn chair and relinquish the control role I tend to adopt at social events.  I laughed at that  (laughing  hurts) but she is right.  Just show up is my motto  and let the party play out,

Blackjack, you will have so much fun tomorrow!  We have a Realtor sending us property information on  Willliam's  Bay.  They are near where my friend lives (Cedar Point).  We are in no way economically prepared to take on such a  venture at this time, but it is fun learning  about the market in the event  we could do that one day.

Thanks again!  You are all the best.

Morning!  And Happy 4th!  Beautiful out right now but probably will be turning on the AC later...

Susan...take a small pillow with you in case for the small of your back, it really helps so you don't slouch.  And if I can make a small suggestion....try PT for a few weeks.  I found that I thought I knew about back exercises and core stuff but I did not!  I learned so much about simple easy exercises!  If I keep up with them and watch my posture, I am relatively pain-free.  If I blow them off...sciatica returns (my disc re-herniated a year after sugery which is what sent me to PT, which I didn't not do after surgery cuz I thought I knew it all...NOT).  They will probably also use TENS on you and 20 minutes on that thing - no more pain!  Well...at least for a few hours!  This information you will take with you and keep for the rest of your life so being prone to back pain, this might be a godsend for you.  Just a thought tho...

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend....we were out Thursdday night, Friday and last night....home today...out again tomorrow.  All bad food.  Nothing healthy.  Nothing low fat.  All loaded with calories.

    Cool  yum

Happy 4th , Just dropping a line.   I do check in a read 4 or 5 times a day.  I just dont post regularly.  My arm is gettin g very bad again.  But it could be worse.  right?

Zap I am so sorry.  I can picture the pain you are in.  My husband gets down in his back.  He gets miserable.

Caroly bless your little heart.  You always seems so chipper in spite of everything.  You have a great attitude.

I have taken on a new challenge.  I am trying to get a weather alert siren for our Township.  We are very rural. they are expensive.  But we all have  satelite t.v. and internet out here and when the signal goes out, we have no idea whats going on. I dont know where to start, I have my name on the meeting agenda.  I am suppose to come with stats and numbers... I dont know where to start.  Where do you buy one of these.  I figure even if it does cost 20,000 if it saves one life its worth it.  If anyone has any helpfull infor I would appreciate it.
