"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure
you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless
you before you depart. Let me not pass you by
in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.
Let me hold you while I may, for it may not
always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into
the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch
myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want,
more than all the world, your return."

Any word on BJ?

I too am wondering if BJ got out of the hospital? How is she? Another cat sickness on my end.. My DH takes care of them these days and last night mentioned the girl didn't seem right.. so looked at her this morning.. she is half her size..not breathing too well.. and not eating.. and smells.. I think one of you told me that that's a bad sign.. so off to the Vet in an hr while my older 2 are here and can help.. I'm not feeling too great.. the hotflashes and nausea is catching up to me.. I guess that's what happens when you've had 17 tx's.. one more tomorrow.. as long as there is a light at the end of this tunnel...

Morning! Nice day for DH yesterday....saw his niece and nephew and their spouses and their children who are now 17, 15, 14 ans 12. Yikes. They got old! The eldest Jill is heading off to college in a year and she has a full scholarship for soccer and then won the Bright Futures award which pays for all her room, board and books. She wants to be a physician asst which will require an add'l 2 years of school but she has already taken this past year and this summer many college courses so DH and I were in awe of her! Nice kids all around...
Jackie...ok...nothing too serious on the x-ray front. Let us know when you get the negative results

BJ.....ya home??????? Beach chair is waiting and it is another sunny day!
Laura....glad sis continues to improve.
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer...me? I am now off to the laundry down the hall. A woman's work is never done!

Morning Girls...Well the laundry cart finally came and got me out of here yeah!!!!. Hospital jammies and Clorox wipes flapping in the wind. Thanks girls for the ride home. lol Just wanted to thank you all for your support and prayers for me. 5 days in a hospital bed was waaay to long for me. Was missing my boat and water. sniff. I am home resting now. Just a little chuckle here, yes I did wipe down my room everyday with my Clorox wipes. Hospitals are very germie...and I don't like them. So I carry my wipes everywhere. Just call me the Clorox girl. lol I see that we had a lot of chatter going on here. I had no computer access sniff sniff.. only could read on my iPhone. Miss chatting with everyone.
Welcome to all the new girls. Sorry you had to join this club but come often here for support and laughter. Hope you all are doing well with your txs.
Wendy....thanks for saving my beach chair for me. I just need a cabana boy and a cosmo now. lol Don't think I will be having one any time soon. Hope you are enjoying that wonderful ocean breeze....ahhh sunshine. Can you send some our way lol coming home soon.
Laura....glad to see that your sister is doing better. You know laughter is the best medicine and I sure enjoyed mine. You know I won't be doing that again. lol Computers arrrggg!
Smef....thank you for the great books, magazines, support and friendship. Just love ya!!!!!!!!!!!. Hugs to you. Wedding almost here...yeah!!!!!
Jackie....honey you do need to stop and rest awhile by the water. As you know the water is so refreshing and soothing for our souls. That stuff will be there tomorrow. How are all your kitties doing? Why are you getting x rays? Are you ok?
Makmak....glad to see that you finally got a wonderful nanny to help you out. How is your kitty doing? How are you feeling?
Zap....are you having a wonderful summer. Getting a walking buddy is so much fun. I can't wait until I feel better to start running again. My flab is creeping up on me. lol
Carolyn..glad to see that txs are going well for you. Hang in there the end well be here in no time.
Rita....what a wonderful golf outing you went to. Yes kids with major illness have a different outlook on their txs then we do. They are so positive and plow right threw everything.
To all the others I missed I hope you all are doing well. Time for me to go back to bed...very tired.
Have a great day everyone. Remember to be healthy...be happy...enjoy life. Hugs to all.

Welcome home BJ we were very worried about you.

Hip - Hip - Hooray.
Add my well wishes to Buddy's. We were very concerned and are so glad you are home. We keep having storms here.....hope they let up soon. I'm slowing down a bit for now. Not sure why things tend to pile up on you now and then -- probably to remind you to slow down. At least we didn't get a speeding ticket with the laundry cart did we Pat???
Hmmm, x-rays --- they are more a precautionary thing where the back is concerned. I think the V.A. has some sort of "standard" that you should have a chest x-ray every year. I decided to appease them and let them do it. I can go in whenever I want --- it's a standing order.
Hopefully another slow day for me here. Just the normal stuff. That is sort of nice. I could even turn up on a Florida beach myself --- of course, I have to get by some water and concentrate really hard.
Hope you are all going to have a magnificent day. I think Pat will -- just enjoy.
Hugs, Jackie

So glad to hear BJ's "voice" here.
Jackie, rest up. I say burn everything except what you need to survive and the cats. It sounds like you are downsizing possessions. That must actually feel good.
Went to a concert last night. The night was so nice.
Marina, do hang in there. It just sounds like you are in the dredges now. Thank heavens for the good nanny so you can rest through tx. You have been through a lot.
Smerf, have fun with the wedding. IT sounds like it is happening so soon.
Take care to all!

YEA Laura!!! 5 YEARS! That's truly a milestone! Here's to the next 5....and many more!
Jackie, I'm so glad that you are slowing down a little bit! You pack way too many things into one day. I'd be exhausted for a week if I followed you around for a day! Hugs to you!
Blackjack! So glad that you are resting comfortably in your own home. There's no place like home! Just rest up as I'm sure you're pretty "wiped out" right now! Hugs!
Wendy...continue to enjoy the peacefulness of the beach and the ocean. How many more days do you have? I'm sure there's not enough of them left!
I just got home from a golf invite. We invited women from other clubs to come and play at our course and so we got to meet new friends. The food at these events is superb. The pie specialists make their favorite pies, the club purchases the chicken or sandwiches, everyone else makes their best salad, and we all leave stuffed!!!!
I think that Dave and I are going out on the boat tonight and see if we can catch a few more catfish. We want to get enough in the freezer so we can have the golfing gang over for a fish fry later this summer. The problem is, we keep eating them, too! :-) It's always so quiet on the lake at night.
Well, I need to throw in some towels. How do two people go through so many towels in just a few days?????
Hugs to all of you and special hugs to those of you still doing treatments.
Rita

Had a mishap- my port would NOT work today.. wouldn't give blood.. so we had to flush it and then unclog it with something.. it worked right when we were about to give up on it!! so got my tx.. and didn't use claritin and switched my nausea meds.. feel SOOO much better than last few times.. and this new med is supposed to keep nausea away for next few days.. so crossing my fingers!!My cat is home too.. she was constipated so bad that her colon was super hard.. she was in the hospital overnight and they gave her an enema and liquids.. she is on meds every day for a while.. and we are switching food.. but she will be fine!!
Time to go and rest.. was able to do a 45 min walk!!!

This day has been bittersweet/surreal. I have been mixed with emotions. I remember back to 2005 when dh and I sat by the phone waiting for "the call". It rang...and our lives changed for ever. My knees were weak as I listened to the words..."You've got cancer. It's ILC and it's invasive." My/our world crumbled... BUT...it's okay now. And I just know that I never, ever, want another phone call like that one.

Mak My port only worked for giving blood the very first time. It never worked again. We tryed everything.

Morning! Weather has been great but my own personal Tom Skilling has informed me that a front will be moving in and it is going to rain every day until we go home on Tuesday. I am thinking I am gonna remove the weather channel app from someone's iPhone!
BJ....so glad you are home! What's next for you?
Laura.....Happy #5! Yeah....the dreaded call. I didn't get one as I was in the bs's office for a post-surgery check and he told us then....but I knew. The horrible call I had to wait for since the first surgery was a bx only was the node call....it was my BD and I sat there all alone at home, just waiting for the phone to ring....the news was good tho. Of course, until I turned up her2+ and I found out about chemo....
Elf....I posted to you on FB and we are all looking for you! Are you OK??????
Rita....busy gal! Did you ever take your catfish into a smoke house and have them smoked for you? Gosh...we did that all the time when I was growing up....I loved smoked catfish! Of course now I wonder....did all that smoked fish cause my cancer? But it sure was good! And it's too late now anyway....
Speaking of good....I had the best thing I have ever eaten last night! Fried Banana Cheesecake! We thought it was gonna be a piece of cheesecake with sauted bananas on it...uh-uh! Imagine a crepe, filled with cheesecake and banana slices, then deep-fried, then rolled in cinnamon/sugar and drizzled with caramel sauce (home-made). OMG! OMG! OMG! We will be going back there...silly girls! You KNOW the answer to that! Luckily we both had opted for huge salads for dinner so we didn't feel bad at all...and hey, fruit is good for you, right?????? RIGHT!
Marina....I never had trouble with my port but I do know it is very common but they usually can flush it well enuf to fix the problem. Glad too that they have switched around some meds for you...hope they do the trick.
Need to get some some coffee...and then lock up this computer....hope you all have a great day...can't believe our vacay has only 5 days left...boo-hoo (or as BJ says, sniff-sniff)

Wendy, enjoy your last five days. Why do vacations go so fast? I've never figured that one out! As for the smoked catfish...no, we've never done that. We came home with five nice ones last night. It was so pretty out on the lake and so peaceful. We grabbed some chicken, chips, and watermelon and took it out on the pontoon and just sat there munching away, enjoying the serenity of the area and catching fish! It's a great way to relax!
Marina, so glad that they got the port working and that you could get your treatment. I never had a port. I just got stuck each time. All the nurses except for one were super when it came to inserting the IV, but if you saw Ms.Impossible approaching you, you just wanted to run the other way. She NEVER got it on one try and after several sticks and no success, I can remember telling her to go find somebody who knew how to do it. (and she did, so I guess I probably wasn't the only one who'd gotten frustrated with her!)
Well, my calendar is completely empty for today until dinnertime tonight. We have our Bosom Buddies gathering at 6:00 but other than that, I have an entire day at home. I need to replant a few petunias in my golf bag. (I use an old golf bag as a planter and put dirt and petunias in the top and in each of the pockets!) A few of the plants have died and it needs a "facelift!" I suppose I should write some questions and make a little money, too, and of course then there's the laundry! It sounds like I should get going instead of sitting here chatting away!
Everyone have a good day!
Rita

Good morning.. so far so good for me on SE's.. WHY didn't I think of this sooner..
So I am going to get my nurse a gift as yesterday was 'technically' my last tx.. even if I do get extended, I made it through 6 full cycles.. 18 tx in all!! and she is WONDERFUL!!! I am thinking Lia Sophia or something along those lines.. any suggestions on what some of you had done? I am going to get a cake for the place for the rest who still deserve recognition as well...My kitty is home.. but still having issues.. she just let out a very hard pebble like thing.. and my nanny and i 'tried' to spray meds into her mouth.. that was 'fun'.. hopefully things get better...

Marina -- I am sorry about your kitty. Mine are horrid at taking meds.....I put it on their front legs right above their paws. They get rid of it themselves. It takes a bit....but it helped me quit wasting medicine.
Glad you are getting better results from your new meds. Why didn't you think of it sooner.....we get on a roller coaster and forget to get off. I have done the same thing so many times --- in fact, just recently with my computer. Over time it seemed to get slower and less efficient --- but I got so used to it and didn't question until it got really, really bad....that I had picked up a virus. A less then optimum status quo does suffice for awhile.
Congrats Laura......many more sweet gal.
Have to run.....see you later.
Hugs, Jackie

Good morning:
Oh, please rain! All living green things are thirsty! I am afraid it will pass over. But then, rain, rain go away in Florida. Little Wendy wants to play.
Marina, so sorry about the cat being sick. When my cat was sick I used an eye-dropper, held her head and forced it into her mouth.
BJ, I hope you are resting up. I am wondering if you are in Wisconsin. I hope so as I know you love it there so much.
Rita, the boat at night sounds so wonderful! You should bring a candle. I just love the image of being on the river at night (with snacks)!
Laura, so happy for you. This is truly a milestone! I am looking towards five years next year! I never got a call as I heard it in the doctor's office. Her words hit me like a stun gun! I din't have a cell at the time and I remember searching for coins so I could use the pay telephone to call Paul. Everyone had cells except for me and I couldn't find a pay telephone! I am sure the doctor would have let me use her phone but I was too stunned to think straight. I also remember hearing Paul's sad voice when I told him. Then I knew I wasn't making it up.
Have a good day!

Hi everyone- BJ glad you're home and hope that you're feeling better. And Laura, 5 years, we are all truly greatful to have met you here. You are such a bright light and bring sunshine to each of us, daily.
I remember my "call". I was at work when the doctor (actually another dr called because mine wasn't in) called and gave me the news. I had to leave work right away because I couldn't think straight. I got in my car and drove home and called my sister for support and guidance. I hate thinking about that time, but somehow we get that extra strength to get through it. We have our ups and downs, but we get through it, and then life slowly gets back to the "new" normal.
Take care everyone,
