Good morning!
Only have a few minutes here...I am somewhat concerned this morning. When I woke up my bad LE arm felt tight and it's moderately swollen! OMG - ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I hope this doesn't turn into full blown LE again. I have kept it elevated all morning and I'm doing MLD, but I have to get showered and dressed for Shelby's belated graduation party! DAMN...I hate this frickin' disease. I do have a Mosquito bite near my elbow...wonder if that caused it.
Every expletive in the book has shot out of my mouth this morning. FRICK! Paulie is looking at me like I'm a crazy woman...

Yes, the salt cellar threw me off. I imagined that Wendy hired some guy to dig deeper in her basement to store salt and pepper and thought $89 was actually a great price to do that! My daughter is a bake and requested vanilla beans for her birthday. I thought that she was being so conservative until I found that they are $3.00/piece.
Laura, sure hope the arm is okay. It is so discouraging.
I too saw the post on NIcki. All we can do is hope and pray.
Paul and I are taking our grandchild to the Kite Festival at the Botanic Gardens tomorrow and we are very excited. It is suppose to be very hot. On Wednesday I am going to the Morton Arboretum with my daughter and her girls. It is free on Wednesday. That might be a nice outing for women living around that area (lisle). I wonder if they have a place where lunch is served? I will check it out.
Well, we all know Smerf is experiencing a bit of heaven now with the wedding.
BJ, always a relief to hear your sweet and cheery voice.
All in treatment.....thoughts and prayers ware with you.

for Wendy: How about a cellar in glass?
http://www.crateandbarrel.com/kitchen-and-food/salt-and-pepper/glass-salt-cellar-with-lid/f23656
I'm miserable with the mother of all colds right now, but want to wave hello to everyone. Hugs and love to all going through treatment right now. Hello to our new BC sisters- I'm so sorry you have to go through this, but glad that you found these wonderful sisters!
Are we going to have a lunch or dinner soon? I'm sorry I missed the last one- would love to get together in August.

Jan Clare - nice to see your post and hope your cold goes away quickly!
Oh, now I understand what a salt cellar is - I like the one you posted.

Morning all.....nice outside, just had coffee on the deck. I think the rain is gonna slide off to the E and miss us altogether. Hot next week tho, with a high predicted on Wed. of 95....whew! BUT....as I always say...better than snow and ice!
Sounds like everyone was busy yesterday and out living! And that is a good thing....
BJ....hear anything yet? I think it must be raining up by you right now...
Laura....how's the arm? Really....get one of those Off! clip on thingies.....really keeps the mosquitos away and no chemicals on you.
Where's Budders? How's your corn?
Smerf....how did it go? Pix needed....
Jackie...still waiting for pix of your lake...
Jan...thx for the salt cellar idea from crate and barrel...I will take a trip to Geneva Commons and pick up 2 of these. Just what I want....a little cellar with a lid I can take off with one hand. And at a reasonable price. I was gonna order them but the s/h was $4.95!
And you girls will totally get this.....I have been looking for over 5 years for a tropical bedding set and never could find one I liked. I was at Bed, Bath and Beyond yesterday looking for a salt cellar and there it was! The perfect set! And it was expensive. And I left the 20% off coupon at home. So...since there was only one left in K and the girl wouldn't do the coupon bit I left it in a cart and sort of hid it in the back. Drove all the way home and couldn't find the coupon...so went thru 3 trash bags. Nope. Went online...no coupons. So.....I registered DH's email and got a 20% off coupon that way. Printed it out and went back and got my set. Hey.....I saved $50! Anything for a deal.....
And for you newbies.....yes, we have cancer. But this thread is about so much more. We love and support each other in all things, for whatever reason. And there is life after cancer.....we are living proof of it...so hang in there! You too will soon be.....
shopping for salt cellars! And now....you not only know WHAT they are, but WHERE to buy them! All from a cancer website.....
Hugs to all going thru tx, making decisions, dreading upcoming tests (my mamm is 9/20 - yuck)....try and put it away for a bit today and just....LIVE!!!!!

oops.....Jan....feel better!

I think we need pics of your tropic bed set
you know ..... for those of us that long to be on the beach but just can't get there right now. Way to get the discount - where there's a will there's a way! 0 -

Affirmation of life is the spiritual act by which man ceases to live unreflectively and begins
to devote himself to his life with reverence in order to raise it to its true value.
To affirm life is to deepen, to make more inward, and to exalt the will to live.

Jan -- get better soon. Such a rotten ( hotter than Hades ) time to get a cold, but we don't get a choice sometimes. I knew what a salt cellar was since I have worked in so many different homes and ran across a lot of them there --- but the first explanation was a surprise -- guess I'm a little older than some here too ---- even if I am only 47.
Sorry about your arm Laura. I think I will take Wendy's suggestion and look for those thingys. I saw them earlier in the year....before we were actually having mosquitoes and forgot about them. I have gotten bitten way more than I like -- not only for my arm, but I itch so bad for two or three days.
Oops...and I do need to go get some new pics of the lake. I loved the old ones....we had the fall colors of the trees along the lake, but I don't want to wait for Fall again.
Going to be a regular Sunday today.....try to not do too much and see how it all goes. Home earlier yesterday. Makes a big difference not to go out to the kennel everyday.
Hope you all have a marvelous day.
Hugs, Jackie

Good morning.. Wendy, I totally get it.. everyone makes fun of me and coupons.. here is a website for coupons I use ALL the time.. Retailmenot.com where people post tons of coupons for different retailers. I also register emails (I have 2) or my kids' emails if needed to get free shipping as you all know I"ve only been able to shop online.. UNTIL NOW..
Mosquito sprays - I've gone Organic, and discovered one that works wonders and is safe for babies -Badger anti-bug Balm.. I buy it on Amazon.. one stick lasted 2 months and well WORTH every penny.. it's pricey..
So, I felt totally helpless all day yesterday not being able to lift Gabs.. all I got to do is sing to her.. which is funny because I will NEVER sing to anyone else but this kid LOVES my singing.. oh well.. my DH had baby duty all day... said he loved it but was exhausted..
I'm recovering slowly and keep forgetting about not lifting things.. have to keep stopping myself.. small price to pay though for getting rid of the nightmare of a Port I've had...
Otherwise, ordered a mushroom supplement as I hear it's a great anti-inflamatory.. and keep researching all the natural things to add post-chemo..There is a Natural Girls thread but they are all opposite of me.. ER/PR+ and Her2- so not sure a lot of it applies to me.. Like I said, I feel Unprotected other than Herceptin and my mind/body/spirit stuff and ALL OF YOU.. of course..

Off topic: mental illness
hi, i took my mom to visit a friend from the 1970s, itwas nice! spent 1.5 days with her friend, she has horses mules, parrot, dogs, cats, no chickens yet. 8-) and a round house because of hurricanes! it's beautiful! at any rate, came home to niece, 22 in psych ward, wanting to kill herself (again) due to stepmother. we cannot handle her so said no to having her live with us, we tried to take sister/the mother out to eat to work on what to do but she is full of disparaging texts and hollering that we took off on vacation (first one in how many years?)......
my question, how do we get my sister committed? she is way overweight, she always was pencil thin........not going to doctor and in complete denial with having some of the same problems her daughter has, we have called ambulance on her twice 2005 and 2008 but they never take her for observation because she says she wants to kill herself but will not kill herself....i thought the rules changed, i hope to find someone to ask at provena psych ward when we visit the niece today at 230 p.m.
My Mom as some of you know is terminally ill and takes a lot of care these days....sigh, it would be nice to get my sister on track so she's not making things worse All the time.
one sister visited 12 days and it wasa nightmare, they didnt hardly spend any time with my mom, they stayed away and came home after supper....one meal with the niece and nephew and that was it. i will delete this later..
kater
15 hours to mississippi! my mom slept the whole way up and back and she just isnt the same, totally dependent on me, it's hard to take sometimes, it was so depressing coming back and watching her be SO confused.

Hi Besties.. Lots going on here.
Oh my gosh Wendy you should see the corn this year, it looks great. The Soybeans aren't doing so good. Too much rain for them.
Laura Hows the LE. Mine has been acting up terrible. I even went in for some pain meds. My sis is in the Hosp. She has a bad case of pnemonia. she is young and healthy but does have RA and takes injections for it. They also lower your immune system. She has had a temp since Sunday. Lots and Lots of Love Buddy

Morning.....big storm rolled thru here at 4am...looks to be a drippy day today and parts of tomorrow. Usually by now my lawn is slowing down and I only need to mow every 10 days to 2 weeks. Yeah....not this year....just cut it Thursday and I have a prairie out there already. Better than shoveling tho

Laura....what's going on? How's DH? What happened? Don't want to hound you with calls but know we are all here should you need something. Hugs to you both...
Kater....I am so sorry that your Mom continues to decline. I don't have any answers re your sister either. I am not sure what the laws are re committing someone. Perhaps google the subject and include Illinois and see what you come up with. Good luck...sounds quite overwhelming for you all.
Jan...how's your cold? Sounds very nasty....have you called your doc? Chest xray maybe???? Hopefully by the time you read this, you will be feeling much better.
And thx too for the Crate and Barrel tip...I went yesterday. I didn't get the glass ones as I knew I would eventually drop them or the lid or something but I did buy the bamboo cellars as the top remains attached when you swivel it off and I can't break these! Bit more money but I think this is one of those things that you buy once and you have forvever. Still would have liked those other ones tho...but at $89. each...yeah, NO!!!!
Off to take a hot shower to loosen up and then off to the gym to hit the back machines and use the yoga ball....feeling better tho this am. Have a great day all..
PS: Hi Ginny !!!!

BJ, thanks for letting us know that Laura's dh is resting and doing better. Good heavens, another shake up!
Laura, if you get a chance to read this, know that I am thinking abut you an I am close and could do something to help.
BJ, glad you are feeling better. They keep talking about this West Niles and of course Lyme's Disease, but I am sure they have tested for those things.
This is on a much lighter note as of course we have some serious topics on the table but I did want to tell you that the kite festival was so much fun! It was at the Botanic Garden on a hill. Paul tried like crazy to get his kite going but it kept nose-diving into the crowd. My grand daughter discovered a furry yellow caterpillar and was enchanted with it the whole time and was only slightly excited about the kites. She was crawling the ground following this caterpillar and very gently petting it. We found a safe place for it so it wouldn't get "squashed" by the people. It was just a delightful thing to watch.
Wendy, glad to hear the back is behaving. Knock on wood, mine is as well. I was cutting the grass to grass to give Paul a break and the automatic drive broke so I was pushing it! I thought, "This is NOT a good idea with the back," but I was nearly finished so I completed the job. My back was fine. There is no rhyme or reason to my problems. On any random day I could bend over to pick up something or sneeze and I am in trouble, but can push a lawn mower and be fine.
Have fun. It does not look like a dry Monday, but it could still be a good one.
Ginny, I think of you everyday! Laura, be safe and sound and BJ keep getting better. Marina, snuggle with baby if you can't pick her up and Buddy, I am praying sister is getting better and Donna, keeping working for the best of health and Jackie, go down and rest by the lake and Rita have fun with Junior, Connie and Michele enjoy the end of summer, Smerf rest from the glorious wedding, Jan, end the cold and to all the new women intreatment, this too will end! Good luck until then! Edited to add, my love to all I did not mention (you are each on my mind at one time or another).

Hi girls...I am so sorry for not posting sooner. It's been crazy! First, Vivre is a good friend who lives in Naperville - she and I created a cancer prevention website together. I had talked to her briefly Saturday night because I was supposed to help her with our booth at the Veggie Fest on Sunday.
Saturday evening Roy was at Walgreens by our house and had a seizure inside the store. (Thank goodness he wasn't driving when it happened.) Full body convulsions and foaming at the mouth. After the seizure ended, he was unconscious for several minutes. A customer in the store held his head so he wouldn't injure it. When he "came to" he was able to tell them our phone #. The store called me and said he had collapsed - so I raced over there. He was on a stretcher in the store when I got there. I then met the ambulance at the hospital. Brain CT was fine, but his Potassium level was dangerously low, dehydation and he has a UTI. He has been quite bored and despondant lately...being unemployed affects men much worse than us girls. He got into a rut of hanging in the mancave, sending out resumes and not much else. He lost his appetite, so he wasn't eating and he should have been drinking more water. Normally he's very healthy, no high blood pressure, cholesterol is not high, etc. He's still in the hospital and today he will have an EEG of the brain and possibly other tests. He said every muscle in his body feels as though someone beat him with a baseball bat. He still has an IV of clear liquids, and he has forced himself to eat at least a portion of every meal they serve. Dr's have said this could be an isolated incident or it could happen again. The brain is a tricky "thing". He has since told me that earlier in the day on Saturday, his computer screen seemed slightly blurry, but he shook it off and blamed it on his over 40 eyesight.
When the call came in to me...honestly, my body has NEVER shook that way before. I could hardly get into my car. Once I did my knees were shaking so violently, they were hitting my steering wheel. I have never felt such fear/panic before.
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I am going to visit him now. I'll check back later...

Just a quick fly-by as Grant is having a nap and then we are going swimming.
Laura, I hope hubby is doing O.K. We're all concerned!
Susan, you find such neat things to do! A kite festival! What fun!
JanClare....pamper your cold. Hope you are feeling better soon!
Buddy, the corn in front of my house is the tallest I have ever seen. It's just amazing! We can't even see the main road or the country club now. We're tucked in behind this monstrous corn! LOL
Well, I have a few more things to get done during nap time so I'd better get moving!
Hugs to all of you!
Rita

Onward - welcome - I live in the western burbs as well.
Janclare - hope the cold is better

Kater - sorry to hear about your sister and niece. I hope things get better and you can work out a solution.
Sorry I can't make lunch this week - have to work.
Have a great day everyone! Prayers to those of you that are in treatment!

Laura, I can only imagine how scary that was.. Hoping for a fast recovery for your DH.. and hopefully he'll take care of himself.. I know how it is as mine was home for a year...
I'm slowly recovering. the cut doesn't hurt as much anymore if I don't do anything.. especially lift Gabs.. hate it.. can't wait for another 2 weeks so I can lift her without anything in the way!!! she was great at hitting my port!! Slowly trying to get used to the new nanny.. not easy.. I think we were spoiled by Maria.. actually had a dream she came back.. UGH...
Hope everyone is keeping busy and enjoying the day.. though a bit hot for me today!!

Laura- thanks so much for checking in and let us know. That is so scary. Praying that nothing serious is found and he recovers fast!
Feeling a little better and was able to work at my desk this morning. Now my husband has it too and we are both huddled on our couchs in the living room. But I just had to check in and see if there was news on Laura's DH.
Planning on being at the lunch on Wednesday.

This evening the Nuerologist visited him in the hospital. She discharged him, but within the next two days she wants him to have a brain MRI. It was a Gran Mall seizure (sp?). She said sometimes they can never figure out an exact reason for them. But she thinks in dh's case, it was due to inadequate nutrition, insomnia and dehydration. All that he remembers is that he felt dizzy and the next thing he knew, he was in the back of the ambulance - how scary. Whew...atleast it's not a brain tumor! And I'm hoping the MRI is spotless. His legs are still very stiff and painful from seizing, but he's taking muscle relaxers for it. They also gave him sleeping pills so he can get back on track with a healthy sleep pattern. I brought him a huge chocolate milk shake to the hospital today...I will fatten him up! lol
After my first Mast, I was wearing pain patches. The patch caused me to have a moderate seizure, at home in the middle of the night. I was somewhat delirious and my whole body was rigid. It was not as severe as dh's, but man was it scary! dh carried me like a baby to the car and rushed me to the ER. The pain patch I was wearing, has since been removed from the market.
Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers.
