Oh Dear Laura. I am so very sorry. I do hope all is well again. Your always here for everyone else. Now this is your time of need. Chocolate milkshakes fix everything.. I cant imagine how scary this has been.
Rita We love living in the corn. It's great isnt it.

I took my son to get his photo ID (at junior college he'll be attending) and while standing in line (bald as I am) this tall, cute, slender gal who obviously worked there buzzed by. I noticed she glanced over her shoulder (have gotten used to people looking at my bare head - LOL) but i also had on my pale pink Fight Like a Girl t-shirt. She stopped and came back, pointing at her head (really short / cute hair cut) and said "I had that hairstyle & just wanted to assure you ..... it'll grow back"
I smiled and said thanks! I appreciate the sisterhood we form with others in this crazy club, and am glad she spoke to meI saw her again later, when we were in another line ..... and noticed a tattoo on her foot. It was the cross, with a pink ribbon wrapped around it - I liked it a lot. Have said I'll get a pink ribbon tattoo when all of this is over with, I may copy her image.

Laura - I'm so glad hubby is home and I know you'll be his nurse extraordinaire! How scary for you to have to deal with, but it sounds like he's on the mend.
I am wallowing in sadness (and wine) right now. Two funerals in two weeks (maybe it's been three?), but enough already. Neither were br. cancer related deaths, but the spectre of death always seems to throw me into a tailspin. The service today was for a friend who had just turned 30. Beautiful, joyful girl... fatal car accident.
I just wanted to cling a little to the group who would probably most understand why these things tend to rock my world a bit.

Connie....thinking of you today as you tackle the MRI! Thinking good thoughts and hoping it is very uneventful with positive results!
Michele............Doing the same for you tomorrow!
Hugs to both of you!
I think I tired my little guy out! There is still no sound coming from the upstairs bedroom! Our plans for the zoo may change today as it looks rather cloudy and threatening outside. Perhaps it will be a movie or bowling day instead.
Everyone enjoy the day!

Good morning! And thanks again for your concern and compassion! It was nice to NOT be alone in our house last night. dh is still sleeping...that Ambian did the trick. Will schedule his MRI today AND a hair and nail appt for myself. lol
Irene - So sorry about so many funerals. How tragic about the young girl. Hang in there!
gingers - You will continue to be surprised when people acknowledge your plight. And most likely, you'll be doing the same to others down the road. Best wishes. And btw...you look great bald! I looked exactly like Curious George when I was bald! lol
Rita - Enjoy your little one!

SHORT NOTICE/last minute Lunch Bunch get-together...
Several of us are meeting for lunch tomorrow in Schaumburg. If you would like the details, please PM me. All are welcome. The more, the merrier!

Irene -- so sorry to hear that. I hope you are feeling better soon. I always tend to wonder --- why do such good people have to have such short lives --- but in my heart I know that people go when they have accomplished what they needed to in life and it is a much better place that they go too -- but always difficult for us who are left behind with so many questions and heavy sense of loss.
Laura, so glad that things seem to be turning around for you hubby. Hopefully, he will be on the total mend very soon and hope as well -- some of those resume's pay off.
Another scorcher here today. Yuck is all I can say. I have little appetite when it is like this -- maybe I should be thrilled. I've lost a couple more pounds. Have started back using my rebounder ( mini-trampoline ) so maybe I can keep up the good work even after the heat breaks. Balloon fest is coming up but I wonder about the turn-out if this goes on.
I'll be looking in later, I hope. See you then. Thinking about each and every one of you.
Hugs, Jackie

Today is your day to paint life in bold colors,
set today's rhythm with your heart-drum,
walk today's march with courage,
create today as your celebration of life.

Morning....sooooo humid out! Grass needs to be cut for sure but so wet and I bag it so I guess I will wait on it. Maybe the lawn fairy will come and visit me?????
Laura....so glad so far DH is doing well. Such a scary thing. And hoping that it never happens again! Feed that boy! Hey...if he is looking for things to do....my lawn awaits!!!! LOL (hey.....I was just trying to help)
Rene......3 funerals in 3 weeks....so very sad. And of course we get it....all too well. We have all now tasted our mortality and personally I didn't like the taste of it one bit. Taught me a lot tho...about who I want to be, how I want to spend the rest of the time I have left....and who I want to spend it with. Don't wallow in the wine for too long tho! But I would have done exactly the same thing.....a few glasses of wine and time to reflect. Therapeutic ! Hugs to you....
Budders...wow! Send me some corn!!!! There is a farm stand just W of us and we went on Sunday. Last night for dinner we just had ears of corn and sliced beefsteak tomotoes....OMG! We just kept grinning at each other, with juices and buter dripping off our faces. YUM !!!!!
Marina....what's next for you besides the Herceptin? How's the "un-port"? Mine was really sore for a week-ten days cuz after a year it was stuck in there very tightly.
Jan....how's the cold?
Rita...how was swimming with GS?
BJ....any news yet?
BTW...was talking to BJ yesterday...turns out we have exactly the same bedding set! Beach girls think alike! Told her she should take a pic of hers as I am sure her bedroom is so much prettier...she def. has the decorating gene ( and I so do not!)
Need to do some yelling st Scott's Lawn Service and then cancel them so off to the phones for me. Hope you all are doing well...good luck to all those having tests this week. I think about you all, all the time and wish good things for you...always.
PS: HI GINNY !!!!!!

Good morning. Laura, good to hear DH is doing better..
By the way, I am totally beach bound.. we are on a 5 year plan.. as soon as my son goes to college.. then off to some Carribean island or somewhere warm.. (my health permitting.. but hey, gives me reason to keep on plugging away at this.. )
My port area is sore and I have a lovely film over the scar.. so no lifting for 2 more weeks.. but it's feeling better each day.. so I can sleep more or less.. on one side but no pain killers.. used Aleve the first night.. I am on Herceptin for life.. and if it works, that will be ALL I do.. if not.. back to the drawing board.. but NOT thinking about that.. ordered a bunch of supplements like Mushrooms and Curcumin and enjoying my 3 months until the next scan end of October or so.. even get to go on vacation with the baby end of Sept.. without port or chemo..

off for my morning walk in a bit.. have to do them solo as NOT enjoying the company of the new nanny.. oh well.. she is for Gab not me..
make the best of this hot day.. the temps are climbing as I type.. See some of you tomorrow at lunch!!

Jackie - Wow...I didn't know you were a rebounder! GOOD FOR YOU! I'm a rebounder too! It is a fabulous way to keep the Lymphatic system flowing...not to mention overall circulation and weight loss as well. Gooooooooooooooooo rebounding! lol
makmak - I totally understand the port pain! I hated my port - it hurt 24/7 until I had it removed. Hang in there. I was just this morning, reading about mushrooms! How ironic. I read that white shrooms are great for us girls. I take Turmeric daily. See you tomorrow.
wendrew - It was Venetian night at Doc's last weekend...maybe next summer we can meet there for it!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
REBOUNDERS: If any of you would like to purchase one - let me know...my friend, a bc survivor, sells them! I got mine from her.

Irene, you have had a tough few weeks! It must have been very hard to come face to face with families and friends facing such loss.
Well Jackie, the quote that got me to make an appointment for the author consultation, also got me into the coffee house to meet her, but I was so nervous! I was not sure who she was, so it didn't help when I went up to someone and said, "Hi, are you, Laurie? I am Susan." and that woman said no and strutted away like I was a nutcase. The consult went well and I left not discouraged, but eager to make the many revisions she suggested. And she made MANY suggestions! Your thought in your post today made me think about this damn book and that I might leave this world when my work on it is complete. At the rate I am going, I will be here for a long time! Move over, Grandma Moses.
Rita, I took my niece to see Shrek and loved it myself! Do not take him to Alice in Wonderland (it may be gone already) as it is very, very dark and scary.
I am sooooooo bummed I cannot go to the lunch bunch, especially because BJ is going back to school and I won't be able to see her. I made these appointments weeks ago so cannot change them now.
Have fun!
Susan

You girls are making me nervous with those trampolines. Just kidding. My kids flop around on the one in the yard like theres nothing to it. I cant even climb up on it. Laura how is the LE. Mine is not doing so well. The back of my hand is the worst. There is a lot of fluid in the knuckles cauzing me great pain.
Wendy I agree. The best part of summer is the surplus of fresh veggy's especially the mellons.

OK - now I really want a chocolate shake! lol Laura - glad to hear DH is doing better.
MRI sucked! I have really bad veins and they always have trouble finding them. Makes it worse when they can only try one arm. So.... 90, yes 90 minutes, 3 nurses and 4 sticks later, I was finally able to actually get on the MRI table. They even had to call a nurse from the cancer center to help get the IV in. And I actually knew the nurse that showed up! MRI was not that bad but my arms were really getting tired on being in one position. I hope you have better luck tomorrow Michele.
Laura / Jackie - My daughter has a mini trampoline and I keep looking at it wondering if I should try it. What do you do on it other than bounce up and down?
Ginger - you do look really cute bald. I'm glad you have the courage - I never did. I wore my wig always.
0 -
Ginger You are very beautiful. You look wonderfuly. I also went topless. I could not wear scarfs or hats either.
Connie You poor thing. It sounds like your veins are even worse than mine. You had a terrible day. You deserve an ice cold wine cooler
0 -
Ginger....you are gorgeous!
Connie....you poor thing! You do deserve a wine cooler (while jumping on the trampoline!)
Budders...keep an eye on that hand please! I am going back to the farmstand tomorrow for more corn! Yum!
Not getting any email thru aol so I guess it's time to drop them...when I set up the sbc email I will let Laura know.....or maybe it's my netbook???? Strange stuff....so just either PM here or on FB if you are looking for me...or sent me a text!
Night all....

I love wine coolers! Hmmm... wine cooler or chocolate shake....
Hugs!

oh thank you ladies - I really appreciate it!
Going in for round 3 of AC today - positive thoughts, prayers, well-wishes and good vibes welcome

Wendy I am having a Devil of a time with AOL too. It's been giving me trouble off and on a few months. I'm glad to hear its not just me. It keeps making you think you have some kind of a virus or somthing.
Connie They should combine the two somehow. YUMMY.
0 -
Connie.....I know what you mean about having only one arm to work with. While I was in the hospital for 5 days they stuck me everyday + some for blood. My arm is still very sore and I used hot packs to raise the veins up before the draw. Good luck with the MRI results. Waiting is always hard. School is right around the corner...ugh!!! Enjoy that wine cooler.!!
Those with trampolines be careful as you could hurt your back on those jumpy things.
Wendy...no Internet service. sniff sniff.
Zap....will miss you at lunch but will plan a dinner for you to come. Went to school yesterday to open up the office. What a disaster it was. But Clorox wipes to the rescue. lol No computer so I only cleaned. lol
Rita...having fun with grandson. Enjoy your time.
Irene....sorry to hear about your freinds. Hugs to you.
Well I am off and running now....lunch with the girls....back to school....to the gym.....busy day.
Stay cool as it is soooo hot out there. Have a great day. Thinking of all of you.
Hugs!!!! BJ

Ah yes, trampolines -- they are great. My mother had one and she was very consistent with it. I got one a couple years before my diagnosis.....and it sat for a long time. I finally realized that my feet are probably going to be "bad" for a long time yet and I needed something to so...hello trampoline. They are small -- mine is in my foyer -- which is open to the living room so I can watch t.v. as I jump. For anyone wanting to know the benefits -- just type mini-trampoline or rebounder into your Internet bar. Mine has a bar that fits across so I can keep my balance and do ok - I have had some balance issues since my stroke -- but not a problem. I think it helps me to jump on the thing --- not high mind you like the youngsters do on the big ones outside -- these really are designed for health and will easily go into your home at their small size.
Got a bunch of things to do so can't stay. Hope you all have a marvelous and hopefully not too warm day. Thinking about you Bj. Good for you Susan --- best way to make a fear go away is face it. Now you will have to find another one, huh !!!
Hugs, Jackie

I have about an hour each afternoon during naptime to regroup! I'd forgotten how busy a four-year old is! His attention span is so much shorter than my older grandson's that it appears we are switching gears and activities very quickly. We're still having fun. We played a board game this morning and then went to a movie. Tonight we're going to try the fishing again.
Donna, I hope you're enjoying your Michigan trip and that it's cooler up there than it is in Illinois this afternoon.
Jackie, thanks for the info on the rebounder. I never really considered doing that for health purposes. I just keep learning all kinds of things on this thread.
Laura...I hope that hubby's condition is continuing to improve. Hugs!
BJ..,when is the first full day of school for your students? My grandson in KY started first grade today. I need to call and see how it went this evening. I can't believe that school is already starting. In the dark ages, I can remember starting right after Labor Day or in the last week of August at the very earliest. Times have certainly changed.
Well I'm off to do laundry. Everyone have a good day. I'm thinking about you today Michele and hoping that the MRI is going well!

Thanks IL Girls! I know I can always count on you girls to lend support and words of wisdom and strength. Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts of support and concern! You girls are ROCK SOLID! lol
dh is feeling a little better. He had a brain MRI today but won't get the results until he visits the Neurologist - hopefully next week...everything's crossed. But my gut tells me it was due to poor nutrition, insomnia and stress! That DIRTY six letter word...STRESS!
Today's Lunch Bunch was a great distraction and a great reason to get "all dolled up" and have some good/educational/positive conversation.
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the Lunch Bunch Girls:

I am behind again... I just read 4pages and so many things happened...
Laura- thanks for the nice picture of Beautiful Ladies~!! and I am glad to hear that your dh is doing better and I hope the MRI result will be spotless.. and hopefully your LE gets better too.. You sure don't need another painful arm... HUG~!!
WendyK- DH got an email yesterday said, he didn't get the job in California.. oh well, we knew already when no one contacted him after one week..
Connie- hope your sore arm gets better and fingers crossed for mri result..
Buddy- Chocolate shake and wine cooler sounds fantastic... let's make some..lol how's your LE?? You sure don't need another painful arm either..
Marina- great news that you are off the chemo and port is gone too..
Donna- How's your birthday?? Another lunch bunch sounds good to me.. where can we meet this time?? anyone??
Gingersfavorite- I am sending you a good vibes and get some good rest... However, you do look great with bald and I think you are very brave to do that too..
Rene- Sorry about your friend..
Lago and Onward- Glad you found us and Welcome.. This ladies are very helpful and great to lean on if you need someone to talk to or have any questions..
Susan, Jackie, Kater, JanClare, BJ, Rita, Mich, WendyTY, Ginny- HI~!! If I miss anyone please forgive me..
On Monday, we're suppose to go shopping and me and kids were waiting on dh to take shower... we're waiting, waiting and waiting for few hour and he was still on the computer browsing.. then he asked me if I wanna take the kids to Target while he is taking shower, then I knew once I come back from Target, it will be too late to other shopping and he won't be ready... sure enough he wasn't a ready and still on the computer.. I felt like we just wasted whole day and he told me we'll do shoppings next day.. So, here comes Tuesday and kids and I were still waiting.. passed afternoon and he needed to go to bed early since his gotta go back to work next day and it was already 3 pm.. In my mind, enough is enough and he is doing this every time whenever we need to do something so, I went upstairs to our room and found out he was sleeping...omg... you got to be kidding me.. I asked him, are you ready to take shower? and he told he is tired and didn't sleep good last night and seems little cranky too, hold on here, I am the one who need to get cranky because of waiting all the time not him.. I told him I am tired too and been waiting for him to take shower since yesterday and you don't do what you said you gonna do and end up I had to take the kids by myself to the stores and its freaking hard and my freaking arm hurts to lift things and lift kids in and out of cart is hard too.. I freaking hate this... then I came downstairs and sat on the couch... What do you know, he came downstairs with the hat on his head and socks on within 10 minute... It was WOW~ moment for me and kids.. it worked and felt good too..
for the first time in 7years I let him have it... maybe I was too nice...
Even my older son asked me, how come daddy is taking so long and he even asked dh why he took so long to get ready... it will be ages till we get to the store... argggggggggg... So, from now on, I am gonna keep doing what I am doing, keep it in my pace not on his pace... I can get ready and get kids ready faster than dh... what is wrong with this picture?? lolI hope he won't do it again and he better not...

Good Morning....hot again today...my AC bill should be interesting! Just thankful we have it. Now if I could just figure out a way to get all that freezing cold air up from the bsmt to the 2nd floor. OR...finish off the bsmt and sleep down there...no ac needed, just a down comforter! Brrrrrrr......
Rita...you sound like you are having a blast with your grandson. I am surprised that you also don't do naptime! How was fishing?
Laura....glad lunch was good for you and sorry I had to miss it, esp. with BJ going back to school now. Fingers crossed for a good MRI...and get DH out of that mancave and into the sunshine and feed the poor guy! I know he cooks...now he just needs to eat it. Stress for him must be draining...hopefully something will break for him soon!
Elf....laughing...yep, sometimes we just need to let all the men in our lives "have it". After 32 yrs of marri'age, DH has "gotten it" more than a few times, believe me. And truthfully...I have "gotten it" too...and it was deserved. I know, hard to believe as I am perfect LOL....sometimes we just need to let them know that what they are doing is just not acceptable and we ain't gonna take it anymore...things do change. Ask Juliechicago...she threw a shoe at her husband to wake him up and with your shoes, that could do some damage! This disease does make us stronger! It's funny...they think we've changed but we really haven't...we just kept the peace before. Now...we let 'em have it and doesn't it feel good! So watch out men....the IL girls are on a roll!!!!!! lol
Time to get off my butt and moving...need to do a little bd shopping for my grandniece. Taylor Swift cd's. What happened to disney princesses???? And she's only gonna be 9! And some lip gloss needs to be added to the gift. Good thing only she is getting older, and not me!
Have a wonderful Thursday everyone and stay hydrated...so important!
0 -
Morning...Just a quick drive by Hi to all. It will be a hot one today so try to stay hydrated and cool. Lunch was fun as always good friends, good food and lots of laughs. Wendy we missed you!!! Hope all is well at school now for dh.
Elf...sorry to hear that dh is being uncooperative. Most men don't like shopping mine included. So maybe sitting on the couch helped.
Laura.. hoping for good MRI results.
Rita....school starts next week for me and the kids come on the Aug 24. I really don't know where the summer went too. It flew by too quickly for me. Next week is organization for my office and those dreaded parent calls. Oh I need a vac now lol.
Smerf....are you recovered from that wonderful wedding. I am sure you are still dreaming of brides. lol rest.
Thinking of all of you and hope everyone is doing well. Well I am off to school now....tomorrow is the air and water show at the lake. yeah!!!!!! It is so much fun to see the airplanes do tricks in the air esp from a boat. Looking forward to seeing it.
Have a great day everyone. Stay cool.
Remember to be healthy....be happy and enjoy life. We so deserve it.!!!!
Hugs to all,
BJ

Hi ladies. Just doing a drive by hello. Love the photo
Had my CT & bone scan yesterday (at Rush from 8:30-1:45 with no food). Everything was pretty easy except for all the toxic waste they had you drink for the CT (OK not that bad). Test results should be posted at the lastest by this morning.

Good morning gals.
Lago fingers crossed for you.
Elfsong. Go get em girl.
Wendy I bought a big fan that will tilt and have it at the bottom of our stairs pointing up the stair case on an angle. Blowing all that wasted cold air up stairs. It sounds like a flipping wind tunnel but it really works.
