Fingers crossed for Michele101, lago and Connie (and dh)!

Connie - Your poor arm! Ouchy... As for the rebounder, you can twist while jumping and also jump with your arms about your head. You can really creative by jumping and touching your toes with your hands! lol Just kidding!

elf - Sometimes, as the saying goes, you get more bees with honey. How about having a heart to heart with dh when you two are alone? Maybe something's bothering him and if he talked about it, peacefully, perhaps the situation would change and you would have a better understanding if something is bothering him.

bj - Do you watch the show at Lake Michigan? dh and I listen to the pilots in their cockpits on our scanner, while listening to it on the radio. It's amazing! Two years ago, my cousin, Billy, flew a B52 bomber over the lake in the show. He is a flight instructor for the Air Force. Mayor Daley announced him over the microphone and said Billy was a graduate of Elk Grove Highschool. It was great! My dad took us kids to the show every year while he was alive.

Chill, girls! Enjoy this weather while it lasts!

Carolyn - I'm glad you joined us. You're a real trooper...I know chemo sucks!

Oh and btw...I stayed one step ahead of the LE beast! YAY! It's just slightly swollen - but I continue to wear my sleeve and do MLD.

Budder - Be vigilent with the MLD...you CAN'T over do it. And keep it above your head as much as possible.

    offtopic   basement air upstairs

For years in utica i had fan blowing cool air upstairs in my 1200 sq foot ranch, up the laundry chute, and down the hall, it worked well (i had a/c in living room and computer room)....

my mom in her nice ranch did it up the open staircase...but i wrote my radon friend expert...i wonder if you have radon if this is a bad move...I never had utica checked but some levels were high here in my Mom's country home, built 20 years ago. Will let you know what he replies.

You can buy a unit to check your radon, i would not trust drugstore tests...or rent or borrow someone's unit and check your basement levels for several days. I tested mine but did not read the directions and had to give it back, so i have to test again. Radon causes lung cancer if you are sleeping or spending lot of time in a radon basement. You can guy a unit for less than 200 dollars...if you have a large family it could be Christmas gift and pass it around to test all the houses.

Kater --- outstanding idea about X-mas gifts.  It's very practical to say the least --- but in this day and age where we have created so many bad situations for ourselves   ----   if it helped one or more family members to alter their situations for the better, how outstanding that would be.  Ok, honestly, at my age I look at anything practical as a TOTAL blessing.

Hoping all have good tests and test results.

Hmm, Elf, I've had a few of those talks with my fella !!!  I'm the git-r-dun type and he the more ho-hum, I think I'd rather do this ( would that be nap or browse the Internet ) type.  I'm not a type A -- far from it, but believe mainly if you take care of what comes up now ( un-like my dear sweet hubby ) you are ready for what will come up next ---- and there never has been a time when something didn't come up next --- but guess my fellar' always has hope that it won't so he needs to SAVE something to do just in case.  We have so many just in cases it is a little pathetic.  I've got plans though.

Rotten heat continues here but will be breaking by the week-end.  About time.  Of course, most days I lose a couple pounds through the day sweating it out ---- then next day it is back since I drank it back --- and then start all over.

Hope you are all going to have a really good day.  See ya later.

    Hugs, Jackie

Just got finished with my walk with my buddy.....sweat, sweat, and more sweat.

WE are going  to Spring Green, Wisconsin for the weekend.......Frank Lloyd Wright country and an outdoor theater to see a play.  I wonder if it will be nasty humid outdoors.  We went last year and it was so lovely.

Sorry I missed you at lunch.  The Arboretum was wonderful.....the dentist was not!

    Have a good day!

    Hi All,

Had a wonderful time at Lunch yesterday!!  Did wonders for my spirit as I was going stir crazy in the house again.  It was nice to get all dressed up and put make up on, etc. I still feel great today.

My eyes are bothering me a lot today. Not sure if I'm not getting enough sleep or if it might be a side effect of the chemo - taxotere and cytoxen????

Hope everyone stays as cool as possible - remember to keep hydrated.

    HI all,

just popping in to say hello--- I'm waaay behind.  Too much craziness-- work, kids, trying to get everything together now they need for school. School-- cannot believe this starts in a week. First year I will have both kids in school full time.

Have to clarify one thing here-- esp for the newbies. Yep, I did throw a shoe at my husband.  It was supposed to be a metaphor-- you know, as in "well just try walking in my shoes for a while!"   He deserved it (long story) and somehow- the physical  illustration seemed suddenly necessary.   But- I did aim at the wall behind his head and it did miss him.

Not that I would advocate lobbing footwear at one's spouse on a regular basis- but wow, it did change things. Turning point in the way we communicated.  Contemplated launching a lasagna once, but naw- too messy.

Have new appt with gyno next week. Strangeness going on. I think the long promised/dreaded peri or menopause may be starting. After two courses of chemo didn't do me in, I always thought it would be at least earlier than normal. Trying to keep my head from going places.  My oby/gyn's nurse has battled bc, so it's actually really refreshing to be able to explain what's going on and not feel like I'm being regarding as a hypochondriac loonie. She's fitting me in "just to check."

    back to the lunacy.....

Happy Belated birthday Donna! Hope it was great!

My MRI went smoothly. They were able to get the IV in on the first try, thank goodness. And as for my arm that went numb last time, well, they let me leave it lie next to me, rather than up so that worked better. My other shoulder though started to hurt and shake from laying there so long. Like Connie, I thought I would explode if I had to lay there 1 more minute! Now, waiting for results.

Glad it went well for you Mich. So far the tests have been a breeze for me but I'm only at the beginning.

    Test Updates:
    CT scan - everything good
    Bone scan - everything good
BRCA testing - Just let my parents know it wasn't their fault. Wink I'm negative.

Carolyn - I'm so glad you enjoyed the get together. You look good and healthy...which is a good sign while going through chemo. Hang in there...keep busy...it makes the journey go faster!

Julie - I am wishing you the very best with your appt. I can understand your concerns. Everything's crossed for you. And - I am so glad you refrained from flinging the Lasagna! lol You are too funny...it's obvious where your kids got their sense of humor from! lol I e-mailed you about next week.

Mich101 - Everything's crossed for you too! Hugs...

lago - WOW...Good news...too funny about the what you wrote about your parents! lol Keep strong!

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Well...I have good news...dh is going to join my "Y"! Woo-hoo! I knew I'd "rub off" on him sooner or later! He's feeling better each day. He has a few jobs that he's pursuing. I think everything will be okay. He talked to a friend today...a guy he worked with years ago, but hasn't talked to him for several years. They were catching up on old times. dh's friend said his wife was dx'd w/bc a couple of years ago. She was dx'd in her late 30's - she now has mets to bones and liver. Unbelievable. She is doing well...despite it all. It's just so common these days.

So...I can't wait to boss dh around at the "Y"...I need to check out e-bay for an inexpensive whip! lol

I photographed 80 sports coaches this evening. It was lots of fun...what a great group of guys! Many of them called me "coach"...I got a kick out of it. Mentoring is EVERYTHING...

    Sweet dreams neighbors!

Morning...they are talking about triple digits today...wow.  Drink, drink, drink!

Juliechicago...good luck on your appt...very helpful to have someone in their office who totally gets it.  And about that shoe throwing...you aimed at the wall????  OH honey...we need to talk about your aim! lol  Truthfully....you are so sweet and good-natured that this is what you would do.  Me....I have better aim.

Laura...DH was off to the gym BEFORE 5:20am!  What in the world......AND his 3mo free trial is over and they gave him resident pricing for Elgin (we are in S Elgin) and a discount for being with the school district.  It would still be cheaper for him to go to my gym and closer...but he wants NOTHING to do with me in a gym! (Wanna borrow MY whip????)  Glad you are having fun and DH is doing so much better...BIG wake-up call for him.

Donna...Happy belated BD...hope Michigan is cooler than here!

    BJ...How are you?  Results?  Clues?

Mich101...glad you "breezed" thru the MRI...now the wait.  But it will be just fine....I know these things!

Iago...so far so good!  Funny about blaming your parents...my Dad and paternal aunt both had bc, but dx'd in their 80's so most docs don't count that (huh?) and I too was BRCA neg...but then Her2+'s almost always are.  Keep us updated...we need to know and we are nosey anyway...

Carolyn...you sure did look healthy!  Wow!  Can it be said...that chemo looks good on you!

Jackie..OK...do we have to drive down there and take our own pix of your lake??????  OH...I guess that would work for you!

Gotta scoot.....dentist today...yuck.  But at least we found our old dentist and she opened her own practice right down the road so that is good.

Be well everyone...and really, watch out for this heat.  Just heard on TV that 1yo twins died in their beds last night.  So horribly sad...

Leaving for Madison  in an hour and then on to Spring Green.  We should move to Wisconsin....we go there so much. Hotwire is so cool.  We are getting a four star hotel for $49!  Admittedly it is in Wisconsin, but we are getting the same kind of thing in Los Angeles and that place  is so expensive.  I love Hotwire.  Check it out!

Rita, we  would love to see you and Dave again if you can come for the walk in September. Dh and I will be there again and I would like to meet afterwards as we did last year.   Poor DH was so sick last time, but he only gets those colds once a decade so he will be good to go.  Susan

    Hi y'all!

Back from the Big Apple after the best wedding ever. Kind of too tired to talk, but have been trying to catch up with you all here. So much going on, and I can't stay long. Do want to say Laura, I'm thinking of you, and hoping for all good results for your hubby. How scary!

For all who know Nicki, aka chemosabi, she is in hospital with brain mets, and dealing with thoracentesis and MRSA. There ia a thread under active topics about her, and asking for messages of support.

I'll keep trying to catch up meanwhile, and you all have a great day!

    Hi All,

I hope your all tolerating this heat well!  I was so hot this afternoon that I didn't care what people thought I went without a hat.  Didn't bother to see if I got any bizarre looks or anything.  It was just too darn hot!!!!! LOL

Great news lago on your test results! Laughing

Smerf, glad to hear that you had a wonderful wedding!  You are a lucky woman!

    Take care everyone,

    Carolyn

Morning.....still humid out there but cloudy so only will get to 90.  Only.

Smerf....glad the wedding went so well!  Can't wait to see pix.  I follow Nicki's new blog but she never mentioned MRSA.  She feels a bit better this am and will most probably go home Monday, but with a chest tube and will have a home health nurse help her with the drainage.  Her onc is still optimistic about her resuming chemo so she too is a bit more upbeat.  Yes...she does read here so send her a hug on that thread....

Not much going on here today...in a bit I am going to the library and then Home Goods.  Thx for the ideas about how to get the cold bsmt air up the stairs but I need it to go up to the 2nd floor!  Oh well....after toniight I think we might be able to open windows at night.

    Have a grand day all!

Good morning!!  What a night we had.. it was my DH"s B-day and we finally invited my family to see the baby... believe it or not my Mom's brother never has.. and we get a POWER OUTAGE!!  at 8 pm.. so he's running around trying to get candles while the baby is crying and the nanny doesn't BUDGE.. like a guest at the dinner.. so my DH is carrying the baby trying to get her to sleep.. and all ticked until I finally get her to do it.. (I'd do it but can't lift and Gab wouldn't sleep in our room so easily after being pulled pinched and played with by all these new people).. UGH.. Of course it didn't help that Maria did call yesterday from Ukraine to wish him a happy B-Day and then called me to tell me how much she misses us.. NO KIDDING...

Well.. the lights came back up at 9:15... BUT, our air is not working... blowing warm air.. and of course I didn't get much sleep, but DH is still sound asleep...

Did I mention I hit my toe that was previously broken against a couch.. AGAIN?  SO I can barely walk... I'm just a lovely piece of work..

Part 2 tonight as his friends and brother come over... can't wait... :(

PS- Forgot the important stuff... I went to the Block center on 7/30 and they drew the usual 16 vials of blood... ALL but 2 things look good.. I have an appt with their dietitian on Tues to go over it.. my NK Cells are low and my IGF1 (Insulin Growth Factor) is way high.. but my Insulin looks great.. and my Vit D which was measured by them a 17 three mos ago (35 at my Onc) was at 44!! So probably above 50 at my Dr.. so the 6,000 IUI of D3 a day is working!!  WOO HOO... I was freaking about the 2 bad results, but my DH is kind of right.. NO ONE will have a perfect blood test with 50 things on there..

    Hello you beautiful Illinois ladies!

Been awhile since I posted, but GOOD NEWS!  I'M DONE WITH CHEMO!!!!

So happy that this will be my last weekend of SE!  I am so dizzy and wobbly today that everytime I stand up I have to hold onto something until the dizziness passes.  Last tx I got so scared as my one cat, who just follows me EVERYWHERE, was laying on the floor behind me that when I got up off the chair, I stumbled backward and missed stepping on her neck by centimeters!!!  Could have killed her (which would have killed me!).

Go for my preliminary appointment for my rads next Wednesday (8/25) (I think it's called marking and imaging?) and then start treatment 3 weeks after that.  Every day for 6 -7 weeks.  EEK!

This is going to be hard to do as it takes me about 20 to 25 minutes to get there, figure another 20 minutes for tx and then 20 - 25 minutes to get back.  All of this while trying to make up the lost time at work!

Even though my company has set me up for FMLA so my job is secure, they don't pay for the time off!  So it's either work lots of hours or take vacation every week to make up the time.  I'm already working 10 hours a day (9.5 with 1/2 hour off for lunch) so I'm probably going to have to come in a hour early every day and stay at least a 1/2 hour every night.  How exhausting.

Welcome to all the newbies and love and hugs to all!  Must go lay down again.

    Deb

    Hi everyone,

I picked out the first ( I downloaded 222 messages just now ) quote that came in and decided to just go for it.  So --- Brat, it's not directly at you, but seems like it might be partly where you are.  Your job and rads are definitely commanding your thoughts just now.  Seriously though --- you are proving to be one tough Illinois gal.  I had 7 weeks of rads as well --- sure was not working thru them -- sitting in a cheap motel most of the week for my 10 mins or less of rads -- then back to the motel.  Working would have helped me fill an otherwise boring time.  I hope all goes well for you.

Hooray for weddings and hooray for when they are over --  well the work it took to get you there.  Do hope for some pics -- just a few so we can celebrate with you just a bit Smerf.

We are awaiting our cool-off which hopefully will start tonight some time.  Another scorcher today.

Seems my friend has found a rental which will allow her pets.  That would be cool as it is a struggle to spend time on my computer now -- and of course, all my personal friends have not been albe to come in her for some time.

I hope I did not upset Susan.  The area she is going is not a great one.  On the property is six or seven small mobiles ( she will be renting one of them ) and across the way a bar/tavern.  I told her this as I did not want her to come back at me one day and say why didn't you tell me.  Things may be better in the area now ( major pest problem  in the mobiles at one time ) and lots of police calls to Rumors ( the tavern ) but other than that.....I think it is for the best.  Though Christmas who was old just passed on --- 11 cats in this room are a lot....and they ( the cats ) all smell like litter dust etc.  A different situation would I think be better for them.  Monday may be the day --- we will see.

Marina -- gosh, I'm glad you at least got your power back but the hot air --- no.  Not good.  Sounds like your nanny is being self conscious about her ability to have Gabby respond to her as she is not taking charge during the "problem" times. Of course, if that is so.....there wouldn't be a good response probably....hope that gets better too -- soon.

Also, your hubby is right -- with your diagnosis and that much blood/testing --- smart guy.

Hope you all are going to have a really good day.  See you later.

    Hugs, Jackie

Brat - Congratulations on being done with chemo!!!  Radiation is a pain but not as emotional - at least for me.  I have two more weeks of rads and then on to Arimidex - which I dread.

Stopping in to say hi from Madison.......so prettty here.

Deb, I was doing the rads during my lunch and  I found it was so tense as I was worried I would get caught in traffic and be late getting back to my classes.  I wanted an after work appointment but so did everyone else, so I got myself on a waiting list.  After two weeks, IU was able to be the last patient of the day so I went after work and then went straight home.  It was so much  better!

Marina, it sounds like the nanny needs your guidance on when and how to step in.  Perhaps just a sitdown talk will work.  I hope so.   Good luck!

    Have a great day all!

Just popping in to say hi!  Up in MI and it has been drizzling all day.  Looks like it should clear soon.  Of course, the day that you want hot and sunny, it's not.

Glad your MRI went well, Michele.

Brat - congrats on finishing chemo.  I remember being so excited at my last tx but then pissed when I got the se's a couple days later.  I wanted it over.  You will bounce back soon!

    Hugs to everyone!
