Brat....live is good..no chemo....time to go celebrate.
Carolyn....how are you feeling. Try to stay cool. It was good to see you at lunch.
Zap...enjoying the lake too. There was an art fair up here yesterday. Lovely painting and artist from all over. Fun to look.
Wendy...staying cool. How is the secretary's mom doing? Maybe dh will give you a job at school ..lol The beach up here was very crowded...so no beach chairs for us.

Morning all...actually opened the windows/doors as there was a wicked breeze and it was cloudy. Now the sun is out, humidity climbing...ac back on. Supposed to be better tonight so we will see...
BJ....scty's mom has a "leaky something" and they are going to do "something" on Monday. DH gives such good info....but they have a part-time secty helping out so he's fine..registration is done and still no kids so the office is running as usual.
Brat....yeah! no mo chemo....I loved that last one!
Susan...hope you are having a wonderful time in WI!
Rita...how was your week? Did GS catch any fish?
Laura...how's DH? Still doing fine I hope. Did you bring the whip to the Y???
Marina....sorry the nanny is working out exactly like you had hoped. Maybe do sit down this week and outline what you expect and what bothers you...maybe she just doesn't understand what you want. Hopefully it will all work out...must be hard for you right now! Ay chance the old nanny might want to return????? You could entice her with a raise maybe???? Just a thought...but then I guess you already tried that.
Mich/Connie...any news????
We were running all over yesterday but did manage a nice lunch on a lake and it was shady and breezy and no bees. For dinner we went back to the farmstand and we had tomatoes and fresh ciabatta bread and fresh mozzarella and fresh basil with EVOO...wow! Good sammies!!! Tonight....corn for dinner! Yum!!! Get all those fresh veggies now while they last...good for us and for our waistline - well, until you put on all that butter on the corn! Oh well.....I do use the light stuff that supposed to lower chol. or the spray stuff. Corn is sweet enuf tho...
Having a quiet day today...hope you all have one as well...and hope you are feeling as good as possible. And enjoy the day...I know I will!

Hi all (((( waves))))
Tried to say hi yesterday but I was over my 5 post in 24 hour quota. More planes today. Blue Angels flew over and around our building several times. My husband watch from the roof… I hid from the noise. Did see a few planes from the window flying west.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Good morning everyone from my empty computer room. I will miss the kitties that were here --- almost two months I think --- but how great for the door to be constantly open now. Susan was able to get into her new digs ( she had been at a motel all this time ) yesterday --- so just pretty much got it together. Will come over today and help clean this room, but really --- it doesn't need it. Was kept clean all along.
We have let ( first time this morning ) Alfie out of the crate he was in all this time. I loved Buddy's suggestion to name him Wally for having "found" him at Wal-Mart but everyone here gave me so much static that he became Alfie instead. The dogs are being little pains.....but anything that moves captures their attention totally and is "prey" to be caught. They will get used to him but the first day or so will be a lot of yelling and spraying with water bottle.
Glad things seem well for everyone. The summer has gone fast. We have been in that dried out, somewhat crunchy state for a couple of weeks. I've so disliked the humidity ( rather constant ) that we have had this year....sigh. I'm sure better times are coming. Lots of work in the yard to begin soon as the nuts are falling or falling due to the squirrels chewing on them actually. There are kernels and pieces everywhere --- some times they are coming out of the trees like rain. Must be so many little furry squirrels up there.
Hope you will all have a really good Sunday whatever you do. Overcast here for now and for once....I don't mind it. See you all later -- hopefully, I will remember I can come in here whenever I take a mind too. See you later.
Hugs, Jackie

day 5 - after 3rd AC - feeling a bit better now. Was craving a fried egg and cheese sandwich on toast, it was delicious. It warranted a second cup of coffee before I head off to church.
Wanted to share a heartwarming moment (or two) with my teenager from yesterday.... He'll be 19 next week {sigh}. A friend had sent me a package of two dozen pink bracelets, with the word Hope, Strength, Survivor & Faith on them. I'd separated them in to different baggies & when my Jeremiah came home & saw them on the counter last night, he said "I want one!" And quickly grabbed a Strength bracelet to put on.
Then I was goin to bed just after 10 and he'd been up in his room playing Xbox (a rare night off). Passing in the hallway he asked "oh you're going to bed?" To which I replied "yeah, been waking up too early the past two mornings!" He said he was just heading down to watch some tv. I asked if he'd like my company and he said sure.
I managed to stay up another half hour while he flipped between ESPN and Star Wars (LOL) but times like these, spent with the kids are priceless!
Wishing you all some heartwarming moments with loved ones as well ~

Ginger,
Your story about your son, the bracelets and the sharing of TV time was so wonderful. Isn't it funny how we show love! When I did my first walk with Laura's group, I was a new girl on the cancer block. My daughters and grandchild wore the shirts of pink and looked adorable! My heart just went out when my son-in-law donned his shirt showing in his own quiet way his support of me during a trying time. WE never talked about it (C) but we were connected! I found it so tender how your son showed his link to you and how you so intuitively just returned that love. It must be scary for him. Thank heavens he has such a cool mom!

Hi Ladies. Just wanted to pop in and catch up on all the posts. Sorry I had to miss the latest lunch bunch gathering.
Smerf - Congrats on the wedding. I hope you're able to share some pics.
Brat - How awesome for you to put chemo behind you.
Ginger - What a lovely picture of you. I love the story about your son. My son was always incredibly supportive, but my daughter, who is younger, had a tougher time dealing with the situation. It's funny how different people's responses can be - even the people who love you.
My DH and DS just returned from their annual backpacking trip where they climbed Mt. Whitney. They have a blast, and take the most gorgeous picture. I wish them well and thank goodness there's no pressure for me to accompany them. My vacations have a minimum REQUIREMENT of working bathroom facilities at all times!.

Wishing everyone well. - Irene

Challenges come so we can grow and be prepared for things we are not equipped to handle now. When we face our challenges with faith, prepared to learn, willing to make changes, and if necessary, to let go, we are demanding our power be turned on.

Jackie, I love today's inspirational quote. It tends to answer questions about the WHY, doesn't it?
My grandson is returned. We had a great time. He caught a catfish and loved our trips to the swimming pool. On Friday we visited the State Fair and we had so much fun. It was hot but there were so many places passing out the water and he loved running through the mists to get cool. It was just the two of us so we had a good bonding day. Whew! I must admit that I was tired after we dropped him off. His attention span was not as long as his brother's and we went at a faster pace between activities. Still, he needed his Grandma time as he doesn't get as much attention being the middle child. Today I am regrouping.
Brat.........congrats on getting that chemo finished! No mo' CHEMO! YEA!!!!
Ginger, I loved the story about your son. The mother/son bond is very unique and awesome and will probably always be there between you two.
Laura, your job sounds like so much fun!
BJ...How I remember the end of summer and getting ready for a new school year! I always dreaded going back until I got my room ready but once the kids appeared I jumped in with both feet I have to admit that there was nothiing else I really would have preferred to do for a job. I just wished that rural school teachers would have made more money! LOL I always felt sorry for those went to work everyday in jobs that they didn't like.
I had my bloodwork done this past Thursday and see the oncologist on Thursday so once again I'm pretty anxious about the results. I don't know if I'll ever get over this anxiety as the appointments arrive. It doesn't help that a couple of my BC friends have had recurrences lately. I do wish that we'd get that cure. In the meantime, I'm going to research the alkaline/acidic body pH and work on getting mine back to the alkaline side. Anybody else done any research on this?
Well, I'm off to tackle the refrigerator and toss those left-overs that didn't get eaten! I hope everyone has a good Monday!

Hi Girls! Back from the "Y" - and will be heading to my friend's pool soon.
After the pool I want to rent the movie FOOD, INC. Have any of you seen it?
Hope you're all enjoying this day!
-------------------------------------------------------
BRAT - CONGRATS! NO MO CHE-MO! Celebrate!
Ginger - It's times like the one with your son, that help us get through this wretched journey. Hope you're feeling well today.
bj - YES...lots of cute coaches (wink/wink). I photographed about 200 more on Saturday. We'll be "shooting" a total of 2200 in the next couple of weeks. Every coach in all the park districts needs to have/wear a coach ID with their name and photo on it. I'm not sure if this is a new policy.
Rita - So much fun with your little one! I bet he loves his Grandma! I will PM you with some alkaline info.
Irene - LOL - I always joke that my favorite campsite is the HYATT! lol

Does/did anyone else fall into the breast cancer vortex? Sometimes I go on living pretty much as usual. Sometimes all I do is read books, watch videos, go on message boards, research online... breast cancer! You probably know I'm in the vortex now.

Adey: I do it all the time. If it weren't for what I have read online the last several months on this site and some of the others listed below. (I have specific pages book-marked by subject/title but here are the main breast cancer pages:
Dr. Love: http://www.dslrf.org/index.asp
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/types/breast
http://www.cancer.org/Cancer/BreastCancer/index
http://breastcancer.about.com/
http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec22/ch251/ch251f.html
http://www.lifemath.net/cancer/
I have found that all this information is useful for me when I talk with the doctors and nurses. It enables me to ask questions and understand. I don't take anything I read on line as gospel. Online is on line a guide for me.
(BTW the moderators took me off the 5 post limit today. Yay!)

Hi everyone -- hope I got that right Laura --- I flunked computer nerd-ese a long time ago, but hopefully I will get there. Food is a big thing to me now. I so well recall thinking it was such an incredible time -waster when I was young. I was seldom actually hungry and stayed quite slim because in addition to eating light I was tremendously active. Not always a good thing as you feel at some point in your life that your metabolism will always work well and you will never be a "dieter". Another item on my very, very long things I was totally and completely wrong about the biggest part of my life.
We always get to enjoy those good ole' days ( major huge sigh ) a ileum after we have experienced them. Was talking to someone a couple days ago and we talked about how fast the time goes now -- you might know. I remember thinking 21 took so many years to find me --- next month I'm the proud owner of my very first Medicare card. All I can say is what the heck happened here. Oh well --- I'm going to do this right one way or the other. The really super thing is that I feel so young most of the time --- so I repeat -- what the heck happened.
Sure enjoying my computer room again. I rearranged the furniture -- left some out that was in here and mopped every inch of the room. I'm still on the have a ton of projects -- it has been so hot and I had so much work going the past couple of months. It is good to have time to call my own now. I need to go sit by the water a little.
Well, will see you later....probably in the morning. Hope you all had a gorgeous day. It was so nice for a change.
Hugs, Jackie

thanks ladies - sharing the joys multiply them. Sharing the burdens divide them.
My boy went to lunch and shopping with me the following day! He's the one who said (early on) " umm... mom, I may not go anywhere with you when you're bald." And yes, I went to lunch and the mall bare-headed and apparently he didn't mind at all. These treasured moments will help me get through the rough ones.

DH just told me to tell you ladies (man, he is now connected to you as well) that a series is premiering toniight on Showtime (9:30) titled "The Big C". The "star" is stage four of some sort of cancer. Could be good, could be awful, but I am going to watch. Will report tomorrow what I thought. Just a FYI.
