Hi there girls.  We are back from our trip.. I tried to log in, but my cell wouldn't let me read this post said it was too big.. SO.. no time to catch up.. Hope everyone is doing well... It was overall not too relaxing with an infant.. the worst was Friday when I turned my back for literally a SECOND and Gab went flying off the pool chair head into cement.. LUCKILY she has my DH"s strong protruding forehead and it caught the blow.. called the pediatrician, watched her and she is doing fine.. better than I was..

Biggest problem was food.. only one restaurant open per night as there were a total of 10 people in a hotel of over 400 rooms.. so as most know with my strict diet i ended up with steamed veggies from one place or another each night.. well.. needless to say my PH has tanked and I have a lot of work to do to catch up...

Hope everyone had a great week... and now I'm back in the cold.. with my Herceptin and blood work on Wed which petrifies me as one of my tests for liver was high.. crossing my fingers..

Marina, there is no place like home!  Hope baby  is okay.  I took care of my wobbly grandchild all this week and I cannot believe how uneven the whole world is.  She tumbled so many times and I was worried with each head to ground smack.

I am wondering if any one has heard from WendyTY.  I was getting used to hearing from her every day.  I hope  she is feeling well and golfing!

Have a great week  good wishes to all in treatment.

    Susan

PS: Regarding the wigs.  I probably did spend too much on my wig.  It all  hit me like a whirlwind and I had to make plans to shed, shave and get wigged within a 14-day window of opportunity, so my chemo nurses told me where to go and I did not shop around. I just took their lead as I was back in the  classroom within two weeks of surgery and not much time to look around.  So I would think, Lago and all, that you could do lots better than I did.  I have gray hair and so I was limited there as well. I think  Smerf also went to Jeromes in Skokie.

I posted this in the hair thread but wanted to share w/my fellow IL ladies.   Had a laugh today, with my dad and brother  (who's visiting from FL)

I have had a fantastic fall weekend with family!     Would love to meet ya'll for lunch on Friday, but have too busy of a week & may be going to see my daughter in KC next weekend.     If you'll plan an upcoming lunch in a south suburb - I'd do my best to make it!

Sounds like it has been a busy weekend on this thread.  Laura... yes, call your onc tomorrow morning and get some answers.  I am also one who used to avoid doctors and fortunately had been really healthy until BC.

Lago... hope all goes well with the port thing tomorrow.  Sucks having to do it, but I am glad to have had one going through chemo and it has given me no problems.

Everyone have a good week.  Be glad to meet some of you on Friday.  I should have a little pink thing going on by then since I start radiation this week.

Susan - I also used Jerome's in Skokie and they were wonderful in making me a custom wig that looked exactly like my hair.  Best of all, my insurance covered the entire cost.  Yes, I was very surprised (but glad).

Stephanie - That's a GREAT picture.   It makes me smile to look at it.

Laura - I'll join the chorus and encourage you to bite that bullet and get checked out so you can put this worrying behind you .  The Unknown is just too damn scary and it only escalates the longer you wait.

Marina - Good luck on the blood work.  Glad to hear that baby wasn't injured in her fall, but I did LOL at your description of her dad's forehead saving her.

I'm fairly certain this is a repeat, but the simple truth ones always strike such a deep chord inside of me.

That question is going to bug me now the rest of the day.  I am having a hard time coming up with an answer.  What does that say?

Oops, sorry Joan.  To me, it is a reminder to be less "worried, bothered, and upset" about things I have never done --- that however it turns out was how it is meant to be  Sometimes -- a less than good outcome is ok --- or said another way --  we have all heard the stories of a person having to give up a seat in a plane that later crashed etc.  Sometimes you should maybe quit worrying and just do.....because it is going to turn out the way it was meant to......to you it might be only adequate, or even not good --- but it is what it is --- and you will go on.  The outcome of most things is only a stepping stone.  Losing is sometimes winning -- like in the case of the plane.

Anybody else --- I love to see how people take things.

makmak I'm at Rush everyday this week except Thursday. Let me know what you want me to do. I'm not sure how I will get it to you. Also I need to see how I feel this week too. The Zyrtec could make me totally zoned out. I think there are a few other drugs (nausea) that might do that to me too. Granted the steroid might wind me up.

I will be going to the doctor and getting my foobs felt up again on the 8th. When am I going to get Mardi Gras beads? I've flashed so many times since May and haven't been tossed anything.

Isn't that part of the treatment plan. I don't think it's part of the Feel Good Look Good program either.

Sky dive... my dad was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean war. I always admired his bravery and lack of fear. The closest I got to it was para-sailing off a sandy beach in MX. (Whimp for sure!) When my parachute was secured and the boat revved up...the Mexican dude hollered to me: "Run like Donkey!"

Hello~~   It was too cold this morning...  what is happening with the weather??

DH going back to night shift from today for 3 month and hopefully better for him to work since less people will be at work..    and we are still waiting from the interview he had last week..

I am guessing that this Friday I get to meet some of the new faces~~  which I am looking forward to...  3more days to go~~

Laura- How are you today??   I hope you made a phone call to your doc..  which I need to do with my onco and obgyn...  due to hair loss and yearly check up and unusual monthly cycle..  always something... darn it..

Stephanie- I love that picture, make me laugh...  I can see you are in such great spirit and so do your dad and brother...

** What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail??**   How about not getting any chemo and rad...  is this count ??  lol

Yes, Rene23, I liked Jerome's for the wig.  They were not warm and fuzzy, but .very professional...and that is what I needed at the time.  Rita was my lady and she shaved my head and refused to let me look at myself until she had the wig on.  I actually broke out  in a smile when she twirlded me around to come face-to-face with my wigged self  (mirror).  I looked more than okay.

Working a lot these days and that is fine as I am saving up for my trip to California with DH.  I am going to Gurnee outlet this Saturday with DD.  It is not my favorite place, but I love being with her and she is so young and lovely that I like to treat her to some new clothes.  She is now doing an internship working with high risk infants/toddlers and has zero money for awhile.

Lago, I hope all is okay with you.  You sound like one strong lady.  Ginger, your face speaks volumes on being positive.  Some of that has to do with the people in your life.  Your dad and brother just seem so positive and very fun-loving.  What is hair in the grand scheme of life when you are surrounded by people who love you and love life.

Hey, did some of the "older posters" who knew Ginny see the picture of Ginny her DH posted on Facebook?  Oh man, what a great picture.  It is a family picture and she looks like Ginny and so happy with her boys. It warmed my heart.

    Take care, ladies!

    Good morning everyone,

I hope you are all going to have a good day.  Very cool here as of late, but I think some warmth will return -- it will be brief probably --- but at least a little more to tide us through what is coming.

What would I do if I could not fail -- instill in everyone the ability to understand and accept the negative events we all go through.  I would not erase them -- we learn and grow that way....but if we understood why.....I think we would traverse the storms easier and accept the hidden gift they all have.

    Hugs, Jackie

Morning!  For the second morning in a row I had to scrape frost off the windshield.  I am so not ready for this.

    Jan.....Happy 4th cancerversary!

Susan.....I can't see Ginny's pic on fb as we never got to be "friends".  Could you copy it for me and email it?

Laura....so...did you call?  When's your appt?  Want someone to go with you?

BJ....how are you feeling these days?  Did you get any answers yet?

Went to the surgeon this am for my yearly check-up and it was fine.  BUT.....I slept horribly last night, just really worried which is strange in that I had a good mamm 2 weeks ago.  Seems like the farther out I get from dx the worse the anxiety is for these appts.  Oh well......I know you all get it and it's normal and I can nap!

Time to grab some lunch and then more errands to run....hope you are out and enjoying this great fall weather.  If anyone is interested the St. Charles scarecrow festival is this weekend, Fri Sat and Sunday.  It's always fun....

Wendy...yep, I understand the anxiety issue before the check-ups!  So glad yours went well.  WOO HOO!!! Good to go now!

Susan, I did see the picture of Ginny and her family that her hubby posted on facebook. It reminded me of the healthy Ginny and I"m sure it brought back lots of memories for her family.  It was nice that he did that.

Stephanie....I love that picture you posted.  What a stitch!   Thanks for sharing.

Susan, you asked about Wendy the Younger.  She had been feeling much better but discovered that her platelets were low again on Monday when she went in for the chemo so all she got that day was the Herceptin.  Hopefully the platelets will improve in count and she'll be able to get back to the chemo schedule this next Monday.  She is my inspiration.  She stays so positive even during the set backs!

I've been busy with the new kitten and fall festivals.  We went on the Spoon River Drive Saturday and found some pretty neat things.  My kids will be coming in on Friday to do the Drive next weekend with us.  I can hardly wait.  It's time that this Grandma gets her hands on those little boys again.  They are sure to have fun with our new playful addition!

I hope all of you are enjoying this weather.  I know it's not going to last but I hope it stays around for a few more weeks.

    Hugs to all of you!

    Rita

Today was my first TX so no I didn't see Dr. Cobleigh. You see her after they take your blood. No blood work done on your first chemo because they know you are healthy.

Chemo was pretty uneventful. I'm a little (and I mean little) drowsy from the benadryl but that's it. Yes drinking lots of water. It seems I'm peeing like every 2-3 hours ;-) Chemo nurse said I did exceptionally well. Not sure what that means. I looked around the chemo tx room. I was by far the youngest person there. It really looked like a retirement home today in there. ;-D

I really wish I could join  you gals on the 8th.

Wendy, I am   somewhat a mess when it comes to computers, so I tried to "tag" you with the picture of Ginny and fam.  It said that Steve had to okay it.  Steve would be her DH. I cannot copy and paste it.  I also emailed Steve and explained who I and and what I am trying to do.  It is older (2008) but the boys are so cute and she looks so healthy and happy. I would love to have it on our Illinois thread.

lago - yaaay for you - having numero uno under your belt!     Fantastic that you are drinking and drinking.    I know at times I pee 2-3 times in 2-3 hours!    But just keep flushin'  it through.

Thanks everyone,  for your kind words about my photo.   I was really glad I had the thought to take it.    Just one of those spur of the moment  "this would be funny"  as I threw off my hat and told them to touch their heads   :)

Mich101 - Happy belated birthday!  Sorry - I have been going, going, going and haven't had a chance to check in here.
