Lago- was it the spice shop on Wells?  My favorite Mexican restaurant is Las Pinatas next to Old Town Cigar and I used to live behind Second City on Eugenie... good times.  (c:

P.S.  I'm bald now!  Husband too.

Yes The Spice House on Wells. I live in the north eastern part of Lincoln Park. Walking to the southern end is about 15-20 minutes. I our fist condo was in Sandburg Village.

So how does bald feel? My husband still has hair although receding. He'll have more than me soon. I need one of those wigs in your picture. That style is pretty good for me. Not sure of the colors but my designer friends would love it.

Good morning, ladies.  It looks like another wonderful Fall day is in the forecast.  Like WendyTY, I think I should head for the golf course this afternoon for a "fall fling" as these temperatures can certainly NOT continue.  (although I wouldn't complain if they did.)  Tonight our cancer center is putting on a Breast Cancer Survivors Celebration that I'm going to attend. Many of the girls in our local group will be there and it's fun to mingle with others in the area.

Susan, you are all heart.  Visiting Irina was a wonderful thing to do.  Thanks for taking her the flowers and spending some time with her and spending some time with her.  She has indeed had a long struggle.  You are a sweetie!

Lago.....I love your avatar.  You are WAY TOO YOUNG to be going through this!  (well anyone is WAY TOO YOUNG to go through this, but you are especially young)  Hugs to you.

Laura, so glad that you have an appointment.  Soon you will have peace of mind and can enjoy each day.

Jackie, so glad to hear that you've been busy.  Busy is good!  Enjoy this fine day!

I'm off to do laundry and get a few things done around here so I don't feel guilty when I head for the golf course later.  I won't be golfing tomorrow because my little grandsons will be arriving in the afternoon and that will be more fun than any golf game!   :-)

    Everyone enjoy this lovely day!

Hugs to all of you!  I wish I could join you tomorrow.  One of these days Jackie and I will surprise you!

Rita I'm not that young. I turn 50 in February. Granted the treatment room at Rush looked like a geriatric center on Tuesday. We all would look too young for that place.

That picture was taken at my parents the week before my BMX. I still had m real boobs but other than that I look exactly the same maybe better. I think the steriods might have puffed my face out a little and softened some of those comma lines around my mouth/nose… yes I am always looking for the half full part of the glass.

Good morning everyone... Had a rough night thinking about 'what if's" until I found that Aleve which I took two nights before the test can raise liver numbers.. DUH.. Knew and forgot.. so now I'm not as worried.. As Wendy said, Herceptin is my big hope and without it I will have a much much worse prognosis.. which I've never let myself think about until yesterday.. But back on track now..

Susan, that was such a nice thing you did yesterday.. and looking at the Stage IV boards very appreciated by all of us there!!

Laura, just FYI, if what you described WAS the 'worst', I think you'd be having some additional symptoms that you didn't describe.. so I'm really optimistic..

    See you all tomorrow!!!

Yes, Marina, that is it.  All those pills can change stuff.  What about vitamins?

I wish I could live in LIncoln Park.  I love the city So why don't I?  I guess we are too dug in HERE.  And HERE means we are painting this weekend.  Yea, maybe.  If the weather is  like it is today, the paint brushes will remain unused.  DH is talking about going to New Glares, Wisconsin.  There is a great bike trail there and he wants to see the changing of the leaves.  They haven't changed here yet.

So have fun at the lunch!  I want pictures!

I am wondering if anyone has hear anything from Buddy.  Smerf takes time off from the boards  and may be at the lunch, but where is Buddy?  I miss her. Any body know?

Elf, I  was asked  by the last doctor when I had my last period and seriously, it was so long ago that I have no clue. WHEN I had them, I do recall that they acted up during times of tension and frankly, your household has seen some of that.  Seriously, my periods ended very early (early forties) and I often think that years of hormone replacement caused my BC.  The doctor  then told me it save my bones and fend off Alzheimer's.   Oh dear!

So have fun today!  I work half a day which is like not working at all!

    Hi all,

Just a short note to say hello. Have been too crazed lately-- and it's taking a case of "walking pneumonia" to afford me the time to get caught up.  Of all things- argh. No patience for this. The coughing is driving me batty.  On the plus side, I'm going to re-record all my voice mail messages as I have just the sexiest voice right now. Quite the contralto.

ELF- just a note to tell you that I had the same thing going on with my period and went panicked to my oby/gyn (she's getting used to this. Her nurse is a bc survivor though and that helps- doesn't write me off as a complete loonie. yet.).  Did a number of tests and it really came down to chemo induced perimenopause.

Wishing everyone the best and though I don't post often, try to keep up and follow everyone. Wish I could join you tomorrow.

zap, dont know if it still exists but the New Glarus Hotel used to have these amazing, and I do mean amazing bavarian cream tarts. My cousin used to own the toyota dealership in Monroe, so we would make frequent trip there.

It is a very german area. We actually went to a bar one night and 40 or so people were doing the chicken dance with lederhosen (stockings) on. We were hysterical because they were NOT laughing....

Have a good day all. Hope to see you tomorrow...Caryn

    Afternoon, Ladies~!!

What a great weather we are having and I LOVE it~!!!  It just perfect~~

Thanks for the comments on my monthly thing, ladies..  I was thinking the primenopause too..  but it seems too early for my age, which is 39...  oh, well, if it is what it is, then so be it.. good side is that, I Don't have to buy anymore of pads and tampons..  The one thing I learned when I was going through chemo, I won't be the same after this and my body won't be the same and anything else could happen after the chemo and I had no choice but accept the fact so, I can face if something else happens after chemo...  I know everybody is different but for me, I rather stay clam and find out what is going on first than worry too much..   It's just me..

Should I call my onco and let her know about monthly thing?? or should I wait till I see the ob??  hmmm....

Lago- I love your avatar~  very attractive and bright, warm smile..

WendyK- Thanks for your kind words...  can't wait to meet you tomorrow~~

Dh just woke up and playing with the kids.. the tornado hit Arizona, derailed the few cars from the train and when our younger one heard the news he said, 'mommy, the potatoes derailed the trains off the track'  lol    How funny is that?  can you imagine real potatoes rolling down and derail the train... haha  cute...

Hi girls! Hope you're all having a wonderful day...this weather is GORGEOUS!

Julie - Hope you're feeling better every day!

    elf - Too funny...potatoes!

lago - Hey...We have a face to put to the name! You look great!

    ------------------------------------------------

For those attending tomorrow's lunch bunch:

Do any of you want a small chive plant for your garden? Mine have spread and I'd love to share them with you. I could dig up some, put each in a plastic bag and give them to you tomorrow. There's plenty of time to still re-plant them and then you'll have chives all next spring and summer. If anyone's interested, just PM me.

elf, Yes definitely alert your oncologist. You should get this checked out just in case. At the very least your gyno. If it is the start of menopause you need to have your bone density checked.

    Hi All,

I got a good night's sleep and made it through the day.  I probably should have mentioned that after this last chemo treatment I didn't have the really severe fatigue you get 2 days later.  I was fine days 2, 3 and 4.  So maybe what I'm feeling now is just a delayed reaction to the chemo drugs?????  Oh well.  I'm done.  I'm just going to look forward.

Additionally, the doctors think I have lymphedema. So I'm joining that club!  My arm is noticeable swollen. Luckily I don't have any pain.  I've got a script for therapy.  I start on Monday.

I've been living with my sister on and off so long that when I'm at my house I'm starting to miss her kids!!!!! Oh boy.

    Hope everyone is feeling well.

    Take care.

    Carolyn

Susan - It was so thoughtful of you to visit Irina. I'm always so moved by genuine human kindness.

WendyTY - It sounds like you have a great group of neighbors. Hope the golfing was fun. I love to golf, but I do it so rarely that I'm pretty awful.

Julie - Get well soon.   Lingering coughs drive me insane too.  Hope you're getting some sleep.

I was waiting to see if I was going to get together with my daughter tomorrow (we're both off on Fridays now), but as it turns out, the other sonographer at my office is sick with a stomach flu (it's going around big-time) and I'm going to have to cover both offices.   I hope you guys have a great time at lunch though!

Have fun you guys. I'll soon be off to my 7:45am appointment with the BS. Might have to check in with the nurse regarding some of my SE. I'm still all red on my chest and concerned that my throat starts to close up in the evenings a little (took a benadryl for that).

I will be thinking about all you gals today at the luncheon and wishing I was there to meet the new gals and reconnect with "our originals!"  Have a great lunch and post pictures for those of us who will be there only in spirit!

Lago...........you are still too young to be going through this and my gosh gal, do you look good!!!!

Elf...your boys say the cutest things!!!!  Enjoy them now.  Believe me, they grow up way too fast!

Jackie, are you enjoying this Indian Summer that we've been having????  We're heading out again this weekend to the Spoon River Drive so that my son and his family can search out those perfect Christmas presents.  It will be alot of fun with the little guys.

I'm off to get food in this house and change sheets on the beds.  Everyone enjoy the companionship at lunch today.....and of course the beautiful Fall weather.

OK girls I'm waiting to hear about yesterday's festivities. Yes I know it's early yet but I get up around 5-5:30. I fall asleep early these days.

The Zyrtec is making me a zombie. I feel great right now but I have to take another soon. I'm hoping my body gets used to it soon. If not there has to be something else. I can't go through the next 3+ months in a purple haze. I won't even drive on this stuff. Other than that I feel fine.

MORNING!  Gorgeous sunrise this am...which of course I was up for....at 4:45am...because of course its Saturday and I can sleep....but my body clock didn't know that!  Gonna be 80 today, 84 tomorrow.  Nice!

Yesterday's lunch was great....all three hours!  Yak-yak-yak and lots of laughter!  I didn't get a pic but there were some taken so I am sure they will be posted later.

It was so nice to meet Navymom, Adey, Onward, Joan and Carolyn...and of course Elf in her purple sparkle shoes!  And of course my "old" friends Pat, BJ, Laura and Marina!  The things we talk about!  We are quite the group....

It was such a busy week for me so was hoping for a quiet weekend but DH is thinking otherwise....so need to hop in the shower and then we are off to the Morton Arboretum and then the Scarecrowe Festival in St Charles.  Tomorrow its off to the cemetary in Elwood to check in on his Mom and Dad and that's quite the drive for us but its a national cemetary for our vets and it is so beautiful there that I don't mind going.  Watched "Furry Vengence" last night....ok, it was stupid but it was funny!

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone...for those in tx, may your se's today be....gone!

    Ooops...forgot....

Lago...what don't you like about zyrtec?  Benadryl makes me too sleepy during the day and the claritin isn't doing much for my allergies.  I was gonna try that next but not if the se's are bad....being in a purple haze doesn't sound like fun to me either!

I don't have allergies. I believe they want me to take Zyrtec because they are worried about hives from chemo. It just makes me drowsey. If this doesn't change in a week I want to see if I can take Claritin instead.

OH..... most of us took benadryl in our IV's for that and a lot of us took claritin the day of and for 2-3 days after neulasta/neupogen to counteract bone pain which they think is an allergic reaction to those injections.  I will I guess take a claritin this am and if nothing will buy some zyrtec (or the walgreens version....so much cheaper!)

Hey...wake up sleepy heads and post those pix from yesterday!

Oops, I see I got us on the next page....lots of room for pictures though so that is nice.  Temps are up here too which I am enjoying --- they just don't have the super intensity of the recent deep summer ones.  Exactly what makes me happy.  It sure be a really super day.

Lago --so perfect re: our discussion of pills the other day -- your purple haze.  That is difficult sometimes.  I had a 'very slight' time of that -- slept a lot.  Made me feel like I was catching up on lost sleep but knew it was reactions to inner body trauma from chemo.  Guess the great part was it was one of the few times I did not have to feel a little guilty about it.  So -- enjoy it a little if you can.

Well, onward for the morning I think.  Lots of computer "works" I didn't accomplish last night.  See you all later.  I'm definitely waiting for and coming back to check for the pictures.

    Hugs, Jackie
