Happy Saturday! Hope you all are enjoying the beautiful weather. I'm at work today. It's a good thing, I am still recovering from all the activity on Thursday. I played too much golf. Had an MRI - my brain is still there and no cancer has joined it. Off to the block party tonight. It should be a good time. Hopefully I will be recovered by Sunday so I can play a little more golf because chemo on Monday.
Sounds like everyone who was able to go to lunch had a good time. I'm not surprised. Although I might have to make a trip up one of these days to see Elf's shoe collection.
Lago - Sorry if I missed it in an earlier post, does IV Benadryl not work for you? I slept like a baby during treatment but I never had a problem after that.
Wendy - I think it must be the Gemzar that kicks my butt. They are stopping the Neulasta now since my other counts have always returned to normal. Not sure how I feel about that since we are starting flu season. I'll have to talk to my onco more about it Monday.
Rita - See you Monday morning. I'm looking forward to hearing about your weekend with the kids.
Enjoy the weekend ladies!

Good morning! Lots of anti-histamines flyin' around here! Last night I took a Benadryl...slept for 12 hours! lol This morning, I feel quite a bit better. Less sniffly, my eyes aren't watering as much, nose is less stuffy and my face is less puffy. Plan to take another one tonight and hopefully it will be the last one I have to take until spring (want to try to avoid taking something on a regular basis)!
Yesterday's lunch bunch was fun! It was great meeting the rookies/new girls and visiting with the veterans. lol Adey, onward, Joan, makmak and Carolyn - all still going through or recently finished with tx are remarkably upbeat and looking great and I have to say, despite it all, you look HEALTHY! NavyMom and elf - post treatment, also looked great! And yes, yak, yak, yak - non stop! Women are incredible...especially Illinois Girls! lol
I was just going to post the group shot and now see that Joan did. Thanks Joan!
A few of you asked me to e-mail the group photo. Of course, my chemo infested brain does not remember who! So...please let me know who you are and I will gladly oblige.
Several wigs in the group shot...betcha can't pick 'em out! ; )
Those who were unable to join us...you were missed and hopefully you will be able to attend the next one!

I am shooting soccer teams, outdoors today...good thing I took that Benadryl last night!
Have a great weekend, all!

Hello Lunch Ladies, What a great photo. I sure hope I can join you at the next lunch event. I do not post much but do read your posts on a regular basis and everyone has such a great attitude and is so supportive. Can't wait to meet you - maybe by then my hair will be long enough so I will venture out w/o a wig :-)

Hi All.
What a great time yesterday! I'm second in the second row (standing next to BJ) second from the right in the picture. It was so great to get together. You guys are just awesome!
Have a wonderful weekend! I'm visiting my parents today and then spending time doing major cleaning tomorrow (ugh) - but at least I have a helper - my sister is coming over.
Take care!
Carolyn

You gals look awesome. I hope I can make November. Hopefully my Zycam brain will be done with and I can drive again.
Adey I want to see that pink wig. One friend of mine suggested I get one. Another old friend of mine from back east walks in the Komen race on the team "cupped cruisaders" and dyes her hair pink every year. I've been supporting her for years. Ironically she doesn't know yet that I was diagnosed, in TX, survivor, cured or what ever I am at this point.--------------------------------------------------------------
And I think this wig thing has been solved. I went to Naturally Yours (www.naturallyyoursshop.com) in willowbrook. The price of the wigs they showed me were 1/2 - 1/3 less than the other place. Also they were fuller. I have a lot of hair, I mean really full. Most wigs are not. These folks picked that up right away and found a few wigs in my style and fullness. They order me 2 (although I will only purchase 1) for fit. I'll be going back on the 20th. I'm sure I'll need them to buzz it off by then too. Yes they do that too.0 -
You gals look great! I'm glad you had a great time.
Lago - I went to Naturally Yours for my wig. I was very happy with the service - they were so kind and compassionate.

naturally yours was 1.5 hours from our house, but we had apptmt after chemo. the lady had to go pick up her kids and chumped us even though we had an appointment.
I had to make a special trip with my mom due to that, another time and there was no real apology or even a discount. And the lady did not encourage mom to submit to her insurance, i'm sure they would have paid for it. I will always remember my dislike of that place., back then she charged 400 dollars for each wig.............. the next couple times she came down in price because i think she realized she was way overpriced.

Oh my -- you ladies do look fabulous as always. You all just radiate health and happiness -- even if you have just finished chemo or rads or??? Carolyn, I had trouble picking you out. Glad you said for sure. In your avatar --- your head was sort of at an angle and downwards --- so even though the name was there.....I started to doubt and -------- glad to see you looking good.
Lago, I too hope you can make the next get-together. I know they are always enjoyable and extreme gab sessions are the order of the day.
Long day today....but I'm happy and satisfied. Hope you all had a great Saturday.
Hugs, Jackie

Hey girls...hope you all made the most of this day!
Adey - I will send you a group shot via e-mail.
char - Please do join us - with or without real hair! You will love these girls!
lago - Best wishes wishes for a good wig fit! Hoping it's full of body! lol
kater - Glad you chimed in. Thoughts are always with you and your mom.
Carolyn - Have a nice time with your parents...you have a great family support group!
-------------------------------
Speaking of wigs...most of you don't know this about me, but I am EXTREMELY patriotic, love my Country and am very politically involved with the candidates of my choice. If I EVER have to wear a wig again, this is the one I would wear. LOL:

Thanks for posting the pic. Thank you more for coordinating it. I agree, I think we all look simply fabulous!!! Adey, am dying to see your pink wig! And LauraGTO, I do believe it would be a good look for you. Kater, my experience with Naturally Yours was wonderful so am very sorry that you had such a hassle. I did not get a wig but fake boobs and bra's and Jan was very kind and took almost 2 hours with me.
Feeling pretty good. Yesterday I spent 5 hours with my good friend and went up to Galena for the japenese gardens and than to the scarecrow fest. Although, saw more strollers than scarecrows.lol. I forgot how many kids there are. Now that mine our in college. One sad note: went to the race mill inn for lunch and will never do again. Has definately changed since last visit. Today, I am going into our pool (shady side and very covered up) as we will close it on monday. Thanks for starting my weekend off so nicely.

Morning.....this weather is simply wonderful! Had a great time yesterday at the Arboretum but you know DH...."is this it? yes. where are the flowers? its October. are there only trees here? yes dear, for the most part. Do we have to keep walking? its only been 20 minutes, DEAR. what? shrub of the month? DEAR.....its very pretty so take a picture of the shrub. what was that noise? probably a chipmunk. PROBABLY??? what else is out here???? don't worry DEAR...nothing dangerous. can we go home yet? we've only been here 40 minutes. Why did we come here? I DON'T KNOW DEAR.....I REALLY DON'T KNOW!!!!!!
So...anyone want to go to Morton Arboretum? I would really like to see it...SINCE I DIDN'T SEE IT!!!!!!!!!
Onward....yep...more strollers than scarecrows! I agree with you about the Mill Race Inn. We only go to the Gazebo and sit outside..to me its the nicest (and prettiest) area of that restaurant.
We do look good, don't we! LOL
Laura....love that wig! And no....I didn't realize you were into politics......

Time to get moving....off on another adventure...enjoy this weather! Won't last much longer....

Oh, the posts are funny. Wendy, DH and I went to Morton Arboretum and after about twenty minutes he said, "It's like a museum just for trees." He too missed the flowers. Amd about the scare crow festival. My daughter is hosting a college reunion and all the ocuples now have babies. They were probably pushing those strollers in Geneva.
I think that getting the wig is such an intense time that if it was a good experience, it was intensely good, and if it was a bad one, it was intensely bad.
I have to say that DD and I did well at the outlet in Wisconsin. It was so hot and hard to shop for Winter clothes, but we managed to do so all the same!
Have a sweet time today!

I think you guys should consider going to the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe instead of the Morton Arboretum. Your DHs will be able to enjoy the flowers there. This is a great time of year to go but don't wait too much longer: chicagobotanic.org

Good Afternoon~!!! I just love this weather everyday~~
I had the most wonderful time on Friday lunch.. I drove an hour to get there and spent 3 hour eating, talking and having great time and I drove little over an hour to get home but it was totally worth it~!!! and I am ready for another one in November..
It was soooo good to see you again, Laura and NavyMom... And, I was very happy to finally meet WendyK, BJ, Pat, Joan, Adey, Onward, Carolyn, and Makmak...
I couldn't believe how much energy we all have and I LOVEd it~!! I came home with upbeat and felt very refresh too.. You ladies just made my day~!!! THANKS...
Onward and Adey- we need to have south side lunch bunch with others soon...
Oh, Rita, what a great picture and you look so happy~~
Laura- Can I have picture too, from lunh bunch?? You can email me or post it on FB so I can download it..
Adey- I love to see your pink wig too~~
On the way home from lunch on Friday, I stopped at the Cariboue coffee to bring some home and the lady asked me, am I going somewhere or coming from somewhere because of my outfit and of course the shoes... She also told me that her daughter will love my shoes... I told here I was coming from the lunch with my friends and told her where I got my shoes... It was just fun, fun fun day for me... and you ladies made that happen... Thanks~!!!

I agree with you all. Lunch on Friday was really invigorating for me. I am still in treatment and it was wonderful to see all the energy and determination in you ladies. Onward... just noticed that you are barefoot in the photo. I bet Elf knows where you can get some shoes for next luncheon! I had to stop off for a radiation treatment on my way home Friday. Three down, 25 to go! So far, it has been quick and painless and hope that it stays that way. I am more dreding the daily drive back and forth than the radiation. I wonder if I can manage that drive everyday for the next five weeks and not get a traffic ticket! My route is littered with speed traps and a red light camera that has already gotten me one ticket for stopping past the white line. Picky, picky. $125 fine! Don't think it is deductible either. Looking forward to the next luncheon.

HI all,
Just a quick stop by. Even though I do not post much, I love getting together with you gals. The walk was great and looking forward to a dinner in November. Also, south area ladies, a dinner or weekend lunch or even a breakfast would be great. Maybe I will try to organize one when I get back from my trip.
Wanted to mention I had a great wig experience and went to Naturally Yours in Westmont. My guess is that the cost of the wig was a wash with the money I was not spending on hair cuts, coloring and waxing. The price of it went towards non-ppo deductible, but I did get reimbursed out of my work medical flexplan. I personally think looking good and having people tell me how good I look was a good part of feeling good during treatment. I did not miss any work and had chemo and radiation. Also I think taking something to sleep and getting a good night's sleep was also very important to feeling good.
I have been having issues with my hand again, and am embarrassed to say I think it is from playing Bejeweled on the ipad.
Leaving for Disney World in less than two weeks and really trying to stick with the weight watchers, since that is a major eating experience, and I do not watch when on vacation. I am up about 8 to 10 lbs and it is making me crazy. Soo hard to get back into a regular workout routine.
Susan, I was back at Green Acres last weekend for a dinner after my boss's headstone dedication. I had some time and was going to let you know beforehand, but I ended up working out at Lifetime Fitness in Skokie instead.
Also, Jan, you have no idea how happy it makes me to see you mention your four year anniversary. Since we have a similar situation (at least on paper), it makes me feel so optimistic and hopeful.
I am super busy at work and with going away soon, I am trying to go in early as much as possible (and make extra money also) so I have no stress when I am gone.
Take care,
Lisa

ARGHHH, Lisa! NEXT time you are at Green Acres, come by me (one minute away). I will pull out my treadmill and my stationary bike (it would be lovely to see someone using them).
Seriously, you look fantastic and you must feel so great about yourself. You are beautiful!
