Illinois ladies facing bc

Jackie, the only way we could get the picture to post on here was by downloading it off of Facebook and then we couldn't change the size of it so maybe we didn't make much progress after all. At least I now know how to put a picture on Facebook, I think. I'm going to try to post a few more on there tomorrow before I forget. I think I am technology ignorant!
The pic of the lunch bunch is fantastic. You all look so good! What an attractive group of ladies!

I think I may have put this on before, but this is something that actually works for me -- well use too when I could walk as far as I liked, ( still a lot of foot neuropathy ) so I did not want to pass it up. I think it works something like what I heard described as the runner's high. Problems suddenly have an answer or if not -- they still cease to have the power of upset etc. You are able to match yourself up to your spirit -- where ALL answers are actually available and where there are no REAL problems since all solutions are there.
Rita -- I don't think I could just post from anywhere -- but Jeanette ( Chevy-Boy ) sent instructions one time....about downloading Picassa --- and since I had nothing to lose......did it and just hoped I could do pictures. I could not believe how easy it was. One of the neat things is that any picture you already have saved.....automatically drops into Picassa.....so whatever you have is usable instantly....and you do not have to make new albums. As well --- any pic you see anywhere on the Internet --- even one someone else has posted --- all you have to do is put your cursor there --- hit your mouse for the drop down menu, hit save as and it will go into your album. At the same time if you want to post the picture from there or your album -- you just get the drop down back and hit copy. It will hand the steps to do it......I am totally not with it where computers are concerned and felt I would never be able to do pictures....not so. You can do it too.......but I think it would probably be easier to do it from Picassa.
Hope you all have a great day.
Hugs, Jackie

OMG, all this beautiful weather keeps distracting me from work. Oh, well. I got in my daily bike ride... 10 miles today. Gradually getting my endurance up and hoping to stay ahead of the fatigue forecasted while going through radiation. Everyone get out there.

I did get my daily 1 hour power walk in… then fell asleep for 2 hours. I'm hoping to get back to the gym once my energy gets better. Granted walking through Lincoln Park, Zoo, Gardens and North Pond is a lot nice than the gym on days like today but before you know it we will have fall. (Don't want to use the "W" word).

I hate that awful, dreaded, 6 letter, "W" word! lol0

BUDDER, BUDDER - WHERE ARE YOU BUDDER?

Oh Joan, I too love to be on my bike. DH and I did about ten miles at the Morraine State Park (which I think may be up by you). My DH and I are slow bikers (no spandex for this girl) but we love the paths and this one was wonderful (our first time). This being Columbus Day, the path was clear of Sunday bikers.
Laura, thanks for putting the light out for Buddy. I really want to hear from her too.

Jackie, Thanks for the info on Picasso. I will try to download it tomorrow as I'm going to be rushing around all day today. I've got bowling first, then lunch (so very important), then a trip to the hospital to see a friend, grocery shopping, a trip to the vet with Echo, and dinner. Whew! It makes me tired just thinking about it! I'll let you know how the Picasso experience works for me.
Tomorrow I'm getting serious about the alkaline diet. I ordered two books that help you get it set up and it does take advance preparation to get all the things you need into your refrigerator for the first week. Another challenge! :-)
Well, I'm off an running. Like Susan, I'm also glad you sent out the searchlight for buddy. She just seemed to disappear.
More tonight..........Rita

Morning! Went to the gym early today....and their power was out! How strange!
Jackie...I have never heard of picassa but I am gonna download that today! Sounds great!
Laura....thanks for sending out the searchlight for Buddy...I miss her! Hope she's ok....
Lago...still laughing about taking my DH to the botanic garden! Yep...did that in the summer. Took him to Catigney in the spring and now did Morton A. He said he's done with trees! Said if he wants to see a tree, he'll look out the window!
Got the new iphone4.....need someone else to get one now so I can "video chat"!
Off to do something constructive......

Ha Jackie I think you mean Picasa.
Not sure what I will be up for today. Yesterday ended up being a rough day. Killer lower back pain. So far better today but I'm moving very slowly. I'm still worried I could pull out my back with any sudden movement. Yes I'm a bit achy all over but the lower back pain was not acceptable IMO. I have an email into the nurse.
I am going to try to walk today but I might have to go a lot slower and cut it down to 1/2 an hour. Not sure I can do it before it rains.

Yes --I do mean Picasa. It has been so easy for me and sometimes I am still amazed that I do pics so easily now. The part I really like is you can 'save' anything you see just by rt. clicking on it --- anywhere. I'm on another part of this blog and get a lot of my pictures of flowers from there. Rita -- you will remember SoCalLisa. I use the pictures here or as a desktop. I felt like the conquering hero when I actually was able to transfer a photo somewhere. I'm a terribly slow learner about some things....but when I'm there...I'm there.
Lago....are you doing chemo. Some of it makes your bones ache pretty vividly. Hope it gets better -- and if from chemo, it will. SE's sort of slam into you for a couple of days or so, then back off. Hang in there.
Rita -- your having one of my favorite who am I days -- but then you feel so good when it is all done and a great sense of accomplishment.
See you all later.....I'm trying to accomplish some of my own housework today.
Hugs, Jackie

Oh I guess I forgot to tell you ladies I started chemo and Herceptin last Tuesday. I've been achy and tired for days but nothing too bad till late yesterday afternoon. I also have nose bleeds that they are watching.
You certainly don't get bored with chemo. Everyday there is a new surprise. I particularly like the days when the SE starts to diminish. Too bad it sometimes is replaced by a different one. Well it's only 6 rounds/3.5 months. 1 down 5 to go. I can do this. Most annoying thing so far… messy home. Just to tired to clean up everything.

Off topic.....but I installed picasa but it doesn't allow hotlinking so I still have to use photobucket here! Unless I am really stupid...
Lago....I had severe back pain after chemo and during rads but mine was a herniation at L5-S1. Def. ask about this....but I doubt its what I had or that mine had anything to do with chemo.

Lago, I have off and on bad lower back (have for years) and something stupid (such as bending over to pick up something) can throw it out. I have it down to about 48 hours of icing/heating and wearing these THERMAL HEAT BACK things. They heat and relax the muscles and I swear by them. They are expensicve, but I am always sure I have them in the house because it means I can carry on. I just put a muscle into a spams a few weeks ago and was able to carry on with the these heat wraps. IT is good that you are checking it out as I know mine had nothing to do with chemo. I just need back strengthening and I need to lose weight. I also take alleve that is like a miracle drug for me, but I have been properly warned that you need to be careful with them as they can cause troubles.
Well I am back to the McHenry as I lost my cell phone in the woods and some man who works there found it. I am so happy it was found as DH was scaring me with all these stories that the "Bad guy" would find it and charge hundred of dollars of porno chats on it! Losing your cell phone is a very personal lost! I had my daughter as the Emergency contact and he called her to say he found it outside the creepy forest bathroom. I do recall rushing out as the bathroom was very awful (spider webs and other spooky things). So that means a hike out there.
Have a good day!
Susan

I had an issue years ago with back pain but it starts out first from my left shoulder/neck (car accident years ago). As long as I exercise I've never had the intense back pain. Exercise means walking and building up your core (cruches, leg lifts). While I'll admit I haven't done much core exercise in the last 6 weeks due to surgery my core is still not bad. I am still walking.
This came on too sudden. I know its chemo. The fact that it is significantly better today along with my energy says it's chemo induced.

Hope this is big enough ---- for Wendy.

Thanks, Jacks! This is sunrise this morning....
Susan....glad you found your phone. Your DH is sooooo funny....porn chats???? And how exactly does he know about that????? Just put a lock on your phone....that way if you lose it no one can use it.

nose bleeds
lago, my mom had a simple painless procedure at general md office that curtailed the nosebleeds during chemo, trying to think of the word, cauterize i think. no pain. and it worked.

I would try to make a get together on the southside ......

Kater I think that might be what happens. Chemo nurse already stated that if it continues I'll need to see an ENT… I assume that means ears, nose and throat physician.

Jackie, my group is reading The Turquoise Ledge by Leslie Marmon Silko and it makes me think of you. She is a Native American Indian who wrote Ceremony. The description alone is you!
"....offers a moving and deeply personal contemplation of the enormous spiritual power of the natural world...of what its creatures and landscapes can comuniicate to us, and how they are all linked..."
Books are so expensive. If you are interested, I will send my copy when the book talk is over, Jackie, although you sound so busy and maybe no time to read.
I have my phone back. I just think that this is just another example on how people can be so good...to call my daughter to let her know my phone was discovered in the woods. Wendy, if it had a lock, he would not have been able to contact my daughter, right? The lock is a good idea, but I am so forgetful. Don't worry girls, I do not have the Addy contacts on it

So sorry I had to miss the luncheon. It's so great to see everyone looking so fabulous and HEALTHY!
Rita - I'd love to see your picture, but it's so teeny-weeny. LOL. Jackie is right about Picasa being very user-friendly. I used to use it a few computers ago, but I started using Imageshack instead for some reason, and now I'm just used to it. It's ridiculous how many pictures I have there. I need to delete a few hundred.
Iago, sorry to hear about the achy back. Back pain is the pits! I don't remember having a lot of aches like that during chemo, but since starting aromatase inhibitors 4 years ago, I've learned to live with being achy a lot of the time.
My shoulder on my mast. side is still a train wreck - partly from all the surgeries and partly from my job. Technically, it's a frozen shoulder, but I have learned to work around it. I've had several steroid shots and tried physical therapy a few times, but the therapy messed my neck up so bad, I just gave up. So now my neck is 90% fine, but my shoulder mobility is back to being very limited. Is it ridiculous that I've chosen to just live with it?
Susan, I love those Therapack things. I used to use them for menstrual cramps (one thing I do NOT miss! LOL), but now I use them around the back of my neck and on my shoulder. I just buy the store brand ones. They're especially great in the winter - I love having that warmth soaking into my body.
Wendy - Did you ever take the tour of the mansion at Cantigny? I remember it being pretty interesting. We actually went to a wedding at Cantigny this past summer. It was a lovely place to have a wedding.

Yesterday was a good day for me. Most of my energy was back and my back although fragile didn't hurt anymore. Today so far I feel like me again. I'll finally be able to get things done.

Been a rough four days. Right after the Geneva trip I went down for the count. This was my 2nd A/C and I was feeling PUNY! Chills, Diarehha, bit of yuckky mouth and lots of fatigue. Isnt it amazing what our bodies can handle. Today I am having my first cup of coffee in days, and all is right with the world. I find it so interesting how yesterday I could barely get up the stairs or answer the phone and today I am back to normal. Thank you God!

Lago & Onward --- it is a wonderful thing when the body once again starts to get stronger than the chemo that was there doing it's work. Sad, but true, many of us had to have a few "rotten" days, but always a big pleasure to wake up and suddenly discover your on your way up again. I usually didn't eat for four or five days.....then viola', I would get up ravenous for tuna fish on toast of all things --- every time.
Susan....that book sounds so interesting. I will pm you.
Fall has really broken out here and overnight....( must have had some wind last night ) the ground is littered with golden leaves. I ( after living in California so long ) love the seasons, even winter, though as of late a couple of times it has seemed awfully long. I do definitely feel summer was longer this year --- but I hope not because of what seemed extreme amts. of humidity.....Sigh !!! Where is the perfect season anymore.
Hope you all have a great Fall day. Lots to do today but I'm looking forward to it.
Hugs, Jackie
