Second TAC was Monday. I'm up for a southsiders get together!
0 -
Do you mean further south than Rush Memorial Hospital?! ;-)

Hi all,
Re: getting together on the south side. Since I work, a dinner or weekend lunch or even a breakfast would work best for me. Should we try Orland again since there is so much to choose from there, or I am willing to travel. Mimi's Cafe looks like it would be good for breakfast or lunch, or Harrison's Brewery for lunch. If there is somewhere that anyone has been wanted to try (or splurge, money or calories!) we can try that.
I am going to Disney from October 22 -28. I am off the 29th, but have to be home for my little guy's Halloween parade. Let's try to get together before Thanksgiving.
Was the Christmast get together discussed at the lunch in Schaumburg?
I am really concerned about Buddy.
Let me know your ideas. Thanks.

Came home to a message from sweet Buddy. She is good. Her daughter has had some bone grafting and so Buddy has been busy being a compassionate mother. I was so happy to hear from her and to know she is okay.
I am very excited. My best friend is an artist and she finally is renting a studio/ gallery to show her work. I am going to see it for the first time tomorrow. She is the one with the DH with cancer and she has been such a a strong one. This studio/gallery is all about her and I am thrilled for her. I'll send her webpage should you wish to see her work.

Stopping by for some words of encouragement and bravery ....
I am modeling tonight, in the Macy's Pamper Yourself Pink fundraiser. It is sponsored by our local Macy's store - and the Mills Breast Cancer Institute (where I receive treatment). It's after hours (10 pm to midnight), they'll have make-overs, risk assessments, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, 20% off everything in the store, a fashion show and more.
I went for my fitting last week and it's an awesome, bright pink sleeveless dress with pearl-like beading around the neckline. At first I wasn't going to tell anyone (LOL) but I ended up blabbing, putting it on my facebook page, etc. So hopefully I'll have some familiar / supportive faces - and some pics to commemorate the moment. I'm nervous but will be glad that I did it!

Hello Ladies, It has been a little while since I have been here. I Had surgery this week, so I have had time to do some catching up on everyone. I had a hysterectomy and ooph on Monday and they were able to do it laparascopically, so I will only off work 2 weeks. I am doing OK. My granddaughter Grace was allowed to go back to school on Tuesday but still must remain on inv antibiotics for 5 more weeks. Still signs of infection in the blood. She was a real trooper 8 days in hospital without much complaint. Was glad to go home and even happier to be back at school.
Stephanie are you from the Champaign area since there is a Mills breast cancer center there? I live in Mahomet. Sorry I cannot get out yet , but hope tonight goes great.
It is so great to hear that some of you are finishing treatment and herceptin is just amazing.
I will try and keep up more often. Annette

With courage you will dare to take risks, have the strength to be
compassionate and the wisdom to be humble. Courage is the foundation of
integrity.

So much to say -- so little time. Buddy -- hooray. Hope your daughter is soon past any discomforts or problems. It was great to see your smiling face on the list this a.m.
Nana -- also great to hear about your GD. Wow !! She is a little trooper. Hopefully, she just goes straight up now to all infection cleared and back to the same old, same old, routine.
Steph --- way to go lady. Our own JanClare did some modeling --- same sort of thing I think. My ever so humble brain lacks total clear memory....but do what she did --- strut your stuff big time. You are both winners.
Still thinking Susan --- bear with me.
Off to work. I hope you all have a great day. Many of us will knowing Buddy is still with us.
Hugs, Jackie

Poem for my Friends and FamilyDo not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint upon the snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. You feel me as a gentle morning rain. And when you wake in the morning's hush, I am the sweet uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there, I did not die.I enjoy this poem and hope you do too. My warm thoughts and condolences.0

Thank you, Laura. Although the news is sad, I am personally grateful to know. We can all have closure on this very unique woman now. She was such a determined soul!
Adey, that poem is magnificent. I will keep that nearby. Thank you.

Sad news, but I'm glad Irina has found her peace. Prayers of strength for her family in the coming days and weeks and healing energy for them to.
Adey -- that poem is a huge favorite of mine as well. Bodies are temporary houses for the soul. None of us are in a grave. It is just a communal place to gather for remembrances --- the soul is free and has always been. Our pain at loss is freedom for the person leaving -- into their eternity. Renewed once again to the prime of their life, no grief, no pain, no heartaches, no endless toil, no competition -- just the loving constant light, strength and love of God.

Quick pass by. Thanks for that great poem Adey. A real treasure. Stephanie.... good luck on your new modeling career. Please post a picture of you in that dress. That is awesome.
Just finished my first full week of radiation. Good news is that I am now scheduled for 27 treatments, not 28. So 8 down, 19 to go. So far I am not suffering any side effects at all. Just not enjoying the daily drive and dealing with traffic. Grrrr! My Rad onc seemed almost disappointed that I was not at least feeling a little fatigue. Told him that I was tired of the traffic!
Also met with my ONC this week for my first six week follow up after finishing chemo. Got a flu shot and left plenty of blood for tests. Should be getting those results on Monday. I requested a Vitamin D test and my ONC was glad to do that. After reading up on Vitamin D and breast cancer, I am really interested to see the results of that test. Has anyone been using the Co-Q10? Alot of studies are showing great promise with that also. I am going to ask my ONC about that on Monday.
Everyone have a great weekend. I am flying off to Sioux Falls, SD on Saturday morning and back on Sunday night. I am on a really short leash with rads going on. Will be fun to get together with some high school girlfriends and some cousins. Also will be visiting a friend in the hospital who had colon cancer surgery this past Thursday. Sounds like she is doing well.
Looks like a another beautiful weekend. Have a good one.

I had a D test last year and I was very low. Put on prescription D for a while then switched to over the counter. Just had a bone density test done and it appears my density is low for my age (osetepenia). No shock there. I'm like the poster gal for potential osteoporosis.
Mom had it, I'm white, small boned, thin, etc. The letter actually states I should be walking at least 30 minutes a day. I laughed. Before this I was doing 1.5 hours of strenght training 2 x a week and treadmill/elliptical 3-4X a week for over 30minutes each machine. I had huge muscles on my legs.
Yes now I'm worried about going through menopause and hormone suppression. I don't think tamox is an option for me.

Tomorrow is our 16th wedding aniversery. Looking forward to celebrating.

I participated in the Pamper Yourself Pink fundraiser at my local Macy's store last night. I was nervous - but once I was there, in the dress, having my makeup done and walking around (getting compliments) in the dress .... I was ok and it was fun! Had to sign a contract in case the cancer center would like to use some of the professional photographer's images of me for publication. I liked the dress so much that I bought it at a discounted price - figured it makes for a great memory....

Morning all.....brisk morning but 70 later today so that is nice. However....I really am looking forward to a hard freeze. This sneezing and itchy nose is driving me batty....
Nana....sounds like Grace is doing wonderfully and for that I am grateful. What a scare tho...
Lago....Happy Anniversary! Just a reminder for those who are told to take 50,000U of D3 via Rx....you don't need an rx as you can order them online for a lot cheaper than your rx, unless you get them with no copays. My doc actually told me this and where to get them.
Adey....I love that poem! Heard it many times before and it is true. As long as we are remembered, we never die. Just can't be seen or heard....but we remain.
Jackie...oops! I think I sounded like you! All your wonderful, spiritually guided wisdom is rubbing off on me....and I LIKE IT!!!!
I too am sad to hear of Irina's passing, but sad for her family only. She sounded ready to go...she fought so hard and so long, both with the disease and with trying to get treatment. And so glad that Susan had a chance to visit with her for a bit.
Quiet day around here today as we went out last night for Sweetest Day....figured tonight would be too busy. Making paninis tonight for dinner....with apple fritters for dessert. Yum! Then off to watch my 11yo grandniece in a horse tomorrow in Hampshire, which will be outside early in the morning. Jeepers.....couldn't she have picked a nice, dry, warm hobby???? You know....like reading or knitting....
Buddy....glad you checked in! As you can see, you have a lot of "mother hens" here! Best of luck with the planned surgery too....wishing you an easy, pain-free time of it. Hows the dead corn?
Get out and enjoy the weather today.....no sitting around inside watching tv!

Wow Stephanie, you look gorgeous! I'm so glad that you bought that dress! It's so much fun with that bead work at the neckline! I would have loved to seen you model it!
I, too, am sorry to hear about Irina and am so glad that Susan visited her near the end. You are awesome, Susan, and so very caring!
Nice to hear from you Buddy! We were all worried about you! Welcome back. Don't stay away so long next time!
Happy Anniversary lago! Celebrate!!!!!!
We are going to a BBQ rib cookout this afternoon. It's the group who works with Dave. I have heard their names now for several months but have never met any of them. It should be fun and it looks like the weather will be pleasant for an outdoor event.
Well, I'm off and running again today! I'll catch up tomorrow afternoon!
Have a great weekend!
Rita
