Lago - my Onc Pharmacy recommended the Acetyl L-Carnatine, and I took it since day 2 of chemo.. and I do NOT agree that neuropathy can't be prevented.. I am proof.. I almost lost feeling in hands and feet and now it's almost all back!! Vit E I'd stay away from.. too much of an anti-oxidant while on chemo (tried to get that past my pharmacy.. no go).. And.. make sure it's ACETYL not just L-Carnatine.. made that mistake too.. there IS a difference.. My ONC doesn't support this kind of stuff, but I push and he still OK'd all of what I take now (20 pills a day...)
Off to RETURN the original boots and have sushi with my cousin while I'm there.. had to resort to Ebay in hopes they fit..
Of course, got a yeast infection 2 days ago.. WHO gets those while taking pro-biotics!! ME!! Got Diflucan yesterday so hopefully it works fast!! UGH...
Have a good rainy day everyone!!

Mak-- you and me the supplement poppers! Feel better.

Mak-I had cronic yeast infections for a year when I was in my 20's. Many of the over the counter meds irritate me. I actually buy acidophilus capsules from the health food store. I open up the capsule and insert. I do this 1-2 times a day for 1-3 days... but you might have to do it longer if you don't catch it early. It should be in the refridgerated section.
I used this method after I got one from the antibiotics after surgery. Worked great.

Hey Ladies. I havebeen following your comments about Nurse Ratchet(sp?) Seems to me that this is one awful nurse. And she needs to GO!. Anybody brave enough to speak to her supervisor? Make sure you document what is going on so you have something to present to plead your case. The MD isn't always the best person to complain to. Ask to speak to someone from the Risk management department. That alone should get someones attention.

And an offer if you want it. I would be most happy to call Dr. C and tell on Nurse Ratchet. I have no problem telling her who I am (since I did not choose her) and say I have a "friend" who is just dealing with too damn much right now to have to take crap from a nurse! Or me and Navy Mom could just wait outside until NR comes out...lol. Seriously, you cant be wasting your energy on this and you need this to stop. Cause we love you.....Onward

I'm really doing fine. I was just forced to deal with her this time, unexpectedly. I will let Dr. C know that NR and I are not a good match and I rather suffer with SE then discuss them with her. Dr. C didn't know I was having an issue so she forwarded the email.
To be honest I would love to have it out with NR. I'm from the east coast. We won't call a person an asshole, we will tell them why they are an asshole and in the fewest words possible. I just refrain from this behavior because it's pretty harsh and there's no going back once you do this. Trust me my former gyno got that treatment (and she deserved it and knows it). I scared the hell out of her.

OOOOHHHHH, I am in LA and it is 90 degrees. I really wish it would cool down. The flight in was beuatiful. We are doing all the touristy things. I see hills from the hotel window and if I look out the other window I see loads and loads of traffic. Wow, one busy town.
Stay well!

Onward and Lago: Your posts had me cracking up. LOL. Gosh, its been quite a while since I got to act like a Badass. Geez, just thinking about it makes me smile!
Have a great time in La La land, Zap. Sounds fun. I haven't been to CA since I was a little kid. My parents drove my sister and I in the old station wagon across the country to go to DisneyLand. And yes, showing my age a bit.....Orlando was just vacant land....Disney World did not exist.

Yes Onward is my official hit gal. Actually we could do it together. I have a leather Harley Jacket that will make me look real badass especially now that I'm wearing scarves. I have a black one with skulls on it. We can just show up on the 8th floor.0

I wanna go too. I have a black skull cap with skull and crossbones. No leather jacket. Darn.

Black skull cap… you're in. Sounds like we are starting a gang. I'll design our logo and hand sign for representing. Any ideas for names.
Now practice your mean mugging for the initial drive by.

I don't have boobs or foobs(yet) unless TEs count.

Susan --- do enjoy that weather in L.A. --- and if you have time say hi to all my friends and family around there. Actually, those temps for someone from here can seem quite warm but if you lived there year round......they were moderate. Your blood gets much thinner when you live there year round. Still, I'll take the seasons here which I missed so much.
X-mas without snow and chilly/cold air can only hold onto the novelty so long --- and then there is a mild dread --- knowing you could often eat Christmas dinner on a picnic table outside. Just not the same. Anyhow, I hope you are having a great time and taking in some sights.
See you all later.
Hugs, Jackie

OK we need colors now. I say we don't do pink. Anyone for purple? Do bandannas come in purple?

Yes, purple, etc....how could I help?

Hi gals. I took your advice went in to my doc. she sent me for an ultrasound. I had blood clotts not deep but they kept me in the hospitol to watch. i guess the le can cause them from the inflamation. This explains all the extra pain. I am home again. I go back to the surgeon today I hope to get the drains out
0 -
Oh Buddy --- so glad you did what was needed. I think this could have gotten bad. Blood clots are not a good thing. Hope your drains do come out. Hopefully, you are on your way to feeling much better after this. I'll be hoping for it to come together for you now. You have had such difficulties through all of this --- time for it to go right.
Hugs, Jackie

Buddy so glad you got this checked out. Blood clots can be very serious that's why they kept you in the hospital.

Buddy, I too am glad you checked it out!! That's what I'd call a diverted disaster!! Thank goodness they were able to find them timely!!
OK - off topic but I need advice.. We are leaving for Panama tomorrow.. and once you get to know my prior me you'll know I NEVER go on a vacation without having another one in the works. I promised my teens that I would take them somewhere for spring break if I am feeling well.. WELL, looks like they will get to cash in on this promise (pending good scans end of Jan and good ultrasound in Dec).. SO I've been looking and the prices are COMPLETELY outrageous!! Any of you who have done this or looked into it, do prices get better for spring break closer to end of March or should I be getting it now at the ridiculous cost of 1.5 per person??!!! (I am looking at an all-inclusive.. cruise was cheaper but my DH is more comfortable in one place on land with me/baby/teens in tow)
Off to my surgeon opinion appointment. She is the one who put my port in, and doesn't know yet it's out.. but I really want to know what she thinks I should do.. My ONC is telling me to do nothing..

Hoping this comes through to everyone. I thought of Buddy who has been through so much when I saw it......would have left it earlier but it just now got in my in-box.
So many times it's not what you say, but how you say it that turns the switch from "off" to "on".
This 3 minute movie and the message is guaranteed to turn the switch "on" for you. How do I know? Just ask the hundreds of people who wrote letters and emails to us about the way this three minute movie inspired them to be the best that they can be!
So prepare to be inspired. Just click here to watch.

You guys are soooo funny. As a nurse I fully agree this is horrible behaviour. I was treated horribly by a nurse at Delnor. My husband and I were floored. She refused to wrap my PICC line so I could take a shower, which my husband was going to help with so no sweat off any of the staffs back. We suggested a different time and she refused that as well. I guess they don't realize that when you are only allowed a shower every other day how precious it becomes. So had to wash up at the sink that day. The same nurse rolled her eyes and looked at the clock when I asked if she was planning on teaching my husband how to flush the picc line as the day nurse told me she was going to do. I told her just forget it and requested she not care for me again.
There is no excuse for anyone in the hospital or dealing with an illness to be treated as you have.
I am planning at some point to write a letter to the head of Delnor about all the multiple things that went wrong there. I know they don't want them to be happening. And I can give someone the benefit of the doubt over many things but really?
That nurse you are dealing with needs a reality check about why she became a nurse!

Determined the odd thing is this hospital has very high ratings for their nurses. This just happens to be the 1 bad egg. Everyone else has been outstanding! Guess inspecter #3 was out sick the day she was hired ;-)
BTW speaking of bandannas. Here's a site for really inexpensive ones. And depending on how much you order you can get some for free. I'm thinking of buying some to work out in. $3.00 a piece I don't think I can make them for that price:

Wow, you Bad Ass Boob Chicks are really getting organized. I don't have a Harley nor any Harley wear. I do have a lavendar bandana if that counts for anything. Someone told me that Hobby Lobby has bandanas in every color of the rainbow so you can check that out for your source.
Buddy... glad you found the blood clots and are hopefully feeling better.
I think the radiation fatigue is starting to set in with me. Hate that. I am normally a very energetic person and get plenty of exercise. Last night I could not wait to fall into bed at 8am! Still dragging this morning I have a very busy day at work so will plug along. 22 rads down, only 6 more to go.
Makmak... I own a travel agency and I will tell you that YES, prices are higher this year. Go for it! They are not coming down for spring break... only up. Availability for spring break is already quite tight and that is why prices are high.
Everyone have a great day. Sounds like it is going to pretty chilly the rest of the week. Might be time to say goodbye to my beautiful, huge Dragon Wing begonia by my front door. Darn!
