Good morning everyone!! Looks like we had a light snow overnight.. won't stop me from getting my hair cut in an hour. I'm worried she'll look and ask me why am I here and what is she supposed to cut.. but it's just growing every which way.. and curling.. so needs help.. I'm debating whether to color the few grays that I do have..
Hope everyone has a great day.. my kids are very sad due to yesterday's Bears loss.. but I think I'm OK with not having to deal with any more of my daughter's obsession for a while..

Jackie - I too remember Jack and I can say he actually helped me pursue that "physical fitness" type of lifestyle...he will be sorely missed and my heart sunk watching all the tributes to him this morning on the news....still continuing my fitness regime and will be getting into the center this week, after expander on the 7th got the go ahead to get back into swimming. (the abs were not as successful and will have to be re-done, surgery scheduled for March 18th, a COMPLETE re-do of what I had done Nov of 09) Headed to ONC for latest bloodwork and see how I'm doing....Slow but steady....wishing all a fun week and be careful of the snow covered ice patches, I fell last week on my right butt bone and am sore, but KNOW how to fall the correct way, just don't ever stop yourself with your hands and snap your wrist....haven't done that and don't expect to, but all be careful!!! ((((hugs))))

I was disappointed in the Bears loss; however, my 5 year old neice was so cute. When they lost, she came over and gave me a great big hug. My BIL is planning a SupperBoal party being the Packer fan that he is. By the end of the game I was just about willing to swich allegienciences. I'm off today to get a Packers Jersey for the SuperBoal Parrty.
I have a sinus infection so I don't know if they'll put my port in on Thursday or not. I'll find out tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Love to all!

makmak - I got my hair trimmed and colored this past weekend as well. It is pretty thick and about 2.5 inches long. But at the front is short, and the front/sides (where guys typically go bald) it very, very thin, short and wispy. Also, it is very curly all over (was not curly pre-chemo) so I look like an old woman with a bad perm. So I am going to continue wearing the wig to work for now :-(

Makmak & Char2010 - I think we are all at that same stage of hair growth (the yucky stage). I've been going without the wig, scarf and hats until today. Messed around with it forever this morning then ended up putting on the wig! The waves in the back are driving me nuts!

Good afternoon! Hey...it's a balmy 27 degrees out there! lol
I am not a football fan, but I was disappointed for all the Bears fans. I realize how upsetting the loss was for them. Bummer!
Carolyn - I hope your infection is getting better. Too funny...I guess if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! lol You're a good sport!

Go Steelers!
Carolyn I hope you can get your port tomorrow.

Goodevening eveyone. Had extremely good news today from all my doctors! Plus my sister and I went down to Tailer St. for Lunch and I bought a Turse that was on sail at the Gift Shoft.
I will be able to get the port put in on Thursday but it may take the dr some manivring. Since my chest/neck is very small.
Saw the Newor - he was habby to see that I had been weened off the decadron sooner than he had hopped for. He did increase by dilanteen medicaition. I've been having severere headache and he was able to give me meds for that. That immediately worked.
ONC was also happy about th decadrodron being weened off me sooner than expexed. She called about the clinical study and it appears, I can be in the the study again! I just need some tests in the nest week. Also, ONCO ord ind in sleepeing pills. I might acugally get to sleep in the nest couplr of weeks, Don't need to start chemo yet. Yeah!
Hope eveyone ie oing well,
Love to All!

Carolyn - Such wonderful news! You must be so happy.

Carolyn -- excellent news, I'm really happy for you.
0 -
Carolyn that's great news!
So are you getting a kiddy port like me (juvenile port)? Dr. W gave me the same speech about not having much real estate and it might have to go in different locations… don't worry too much about that. Mine went in the normal place and not in the neck, under the clavical etc.

Good news Carolyn!

I leave Friday morning so I need to get busy and sort through everything. I'm sure I'll forget something important. That just means I will have to do some shopping when I'm down there. That would be a real pity, eh?
This afternoon our ladies' group is going to see a production at our Center for the Performing Arts about the Church Basement Ladies. It will provide a nice "get-away" and lots of laughter.
I hope everyone is doing well. How's the cold BJ? I've got the sinus drainage and the coughing that's needed to clear the throat. I'm hoping that the warm rays help get rid of it.
Catch you later.

I have no water today from 9am-5pm due to some repairs. I think I'll go shopping/lunch out so I can pee in a public restroom. No flushing till after 5 is a bit gross for me. I can't even cook or clean with out water.
I feel like I'll be one of those "ladies that lunch" today except I'll be taking the bus and/or walking.

Hey Lauren, I'll be doing the same today.. so you have company!! (well.. I have water, but am getting out for lunch and some shopping!)

Yay donna as been oophed! Glad its over for you donna. Rest and heal.0
-
Lago... hate when that happens. But make the most of your lunch and shopping day.
Carolyn.. glad to hear that you can get your port. One more thing to cross off the list!
Donna... take it easy with the recovery. So glad that things are pink and healthy!
I am noticing that I still do not have my energy level back up to speed. Everytime I spend a couple hours playing tennis, like yesterday, I end up crashing early in the evening, like 8pm. And then I have so much more stiff joints and muscles afterwards also. Not sure if it is from new friend, Femara, or still recovering from the chemo and rads. Or all of the above. Just frustrating!
Well off to see my PT to get started on my back thing again. So tired of appointments! Gosh, I am whining today!

Joan..I get REAL stiff in joints at night and tired. THEN i cannot sleep the whole night to restore enough. I think it is all from this jounrey and it is all still healing?!
Yes..lago..lol..I have been oophed!!!

Carolyn - Good news, indeed! Hope you can keep those headaches at bay. Best wishes tomorrow. I will call you on Friday. Hang in there!
Donna - So glad the ooph-exit went well. I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you about the Bichons. The friend that adopted them from PA, is going through chemo. : ( He hasn't gotten back to me. I'm trying NOT to assume the worst. Get well soon. And please, DON'T over do it. You need some rest, superwoman!
Joan - Maybe we can do an up north get together soon.
--------------------------------------------
Well...I have my season down-in-the-dumps syndrome (SAD). Trying to keep myself up beat. Don't want to be a Doris Doom! I need sun, sand, fun! Sniff, sniff! ; )

Carolyn, you are too sweet a person to have headaches, so headaches go away.
Well sorta a small world. My dear friend's mother was just diagnosed with BC. It looks promising in terms of size, etc, but she will have her surgery in a week. Her doctor is the same as Lago's and she will have her surgery at Rush. I know others have Dr. W as well. I was able to say that I knew of the doctor and the hospital and that it all looked good. This friend walked the walk with me when I was teaching with her. She is younger than I am, obviously. I had parent-teacher conferences right at that 14-day mark when your hair starts to shed. She came in after "x" number of parent conferences with a brush to clean up my shedding hair. Random acts of kindness like that are never forgotten! Her courage to care for me got me through lots of things as I was determined to stay on the job. So now it is her mom!
Joan, it took me a long time to bounce back after radiation. My chemo was not hard, but rads just knocked me out, so be patient with yourself. My theory is to try and climb into bed earlier than usual and read or watch TV and accept the fact that it may take time to return to the energy level you want for yourself.
Take care, all
Susan

zap there are 2 Dr. W at Rush. There is the BS Dr. W and the port surgeon Dr. W. Caroline and I were talking about the port surgeon. But yes the BS Dr. W is great too. You're friend will be very happy with him and his office staff. Wish her the best for me.0
