Onward I wondered where you were and why we didn't hear from you.  Glad you are back and very glad you had some time off.  Rads seems to be so much easier than chemo.  I don't know how it might play out with the LE going on.  I hope just fine.

I just got back from Oncology in Marion.  I did get labs too and they all came out fine though tumor marker was not ready.  I don't think I'll ever go again when a rain-storm is predicted.  This was an incredible pouring type rain with a wind.  The trucks ( of course, all of that area is a truck route ) all produced tidal waves and I thought sure the one that nearly forced us off the road was going to help me lose the nice dinner I had eaten before we left to come home.  Hopefully, this will never happen again.  I'm wet and chilly and in need of  some Tums so will see you all later.

Hope you gals in Chicago ( dinner bunch ) are all ok and not having to be soaked.  Hi to everyone else.

    Hugs, Jackie

Jackie, I'm glad you're back all safe and sound!  I've been listening to the weather channel and keeping an eye on that storm that's going through in your area and the Tennessee area.  The Memphis area is really getting pelted.  It's been cloudy here all day and we are expecting some snow tonight.  I guess we'll measure it when it's all done as every station is predicting a different amount.

Onward, glad to hear from you again.  I'm sorry that you're having such a time with the lymphedema.  I hope you're like me and find that rads are much easier than the chemo.  Keep us informed.

Well, I'm going to go sprawl out on my new furniture and enjoy the rest of the night.  Stay safe and warm and let's hope that the approaching snow is minimal!  I'm ready for spring!

Hi everyone. I am in Aurora, IL.  Like Denise I have read this post several times and never commented, until now :)

I was diagnosed with IDC on 9/21 after I found a lump through self exam. I had a mastectomy on 10/7 and found to have two other invasive tumors with 7cm of DCIS. Treatment was done at Edward Cancer Center in Naperville.  I really like my oncologist!

Nice to meet all the IL ladies!

Welcome Denise and Krista!  Really glad that you both have decided to join this thread.  I suppose most of us lurked for awhile before "coming out".  This is a super group of ladies and so supportive so keep coming back.

I stopped by and surprised my hairstylist this afternoon.  She nearly started crying when she saw me for the first time in nearly a year.  She looked over my current "hair style" and went to work.  It was so nice to get treated to a wonderful scalp massage and shampoo.  She really evened things out for me and I think it even looks like a hair cut now instead of chemo hair.

Hope that Lago and Marybe are enjoying a nice evening at dinner in the city.  Not sure who else was able to join them.  Sure wish I could have but was feeling too guilty about leaving my DH home alone tonight after he's been gone so much lately.  Next time...

Morning! Got barely a dusting of snow.....thank goodness they were wrong about the snow totals. And I almost mixed up some gas/oil but just had a feeling I wouldn't need the blower. Hate turning that thing on in the spring and letting it run out of fuel.

BIG welcome to Krista and Denise! We hate to get new girls here but we are also glad u found us! We all lurked here before posting....who the heck wants to talk to a bunch of strangers on the Internet! But after the first post....we are no longer strangers.

Susan.....an electric car sounds perfect for your use. Also....just heard that gas will probably hit near $5. A gallon this summer....oh boy !

Rita.....how's the new furniture? Comfy? We got a bigger tv for the bedroom last fall and I love the flat screens and HD. Now.... We sit in front of the other tv's and chant "die! die!"..,but alas.....they are perfect and someone in this house says no new tv until one dies....and yes, that "someone" is me!

Marina....yes, reading something lighter is a great idea! I haven't started that series yet but I will!

    BJ....YES!!!! NEED BEACH NOW !!!!!

Jackie....whew! Glad u mace it home ok! Hate driving in those storms with trucks! Glad so far ur tests are great!

Just listening to the news.....breast milk ice cream in England for $25. For 10 oz...... YUM! But they said not to worry as they screen the women for disease. Whaaaaaa......?????????

Off to the gym....hope all are doing well!

WELCOME Khrista and Denise! We don't "bite" (lol)...glad you jumped in. The girls here are wonderful...

bj - Good luck with the "move" this weekend. You think it's difficult moving her IN? Just wait to you have to move her OUT...yikes!

    ---------------------------------------

Yesterday was my last day shooting pre-schoolers. It was fun...the kids were adorable, but man was I tired when I got home! lol They do keep you on your toes. Today I have an interview downtown for a 3 month temp position (market research study) that would be taking place near my house. Wish me luck! After the interview, I'm meeting a girl from bco for dinner. She is in town for the Dog Show. It should be fun! She and I became friends here a couple of years ago.

    Have a nice Friday!

Good morning, Ladies,   It was so nice to meet a few of you last night for dinner and I really appreciate you making the effort to get our in spite of predicted snow......which I am very happy to say has not shown up yet.  The dog show Laura mentioned is at the same place our dental meeting is at and quite frankly I would rather be going to it.  For those of you who have never tried it, the Megabus is really very nice.....not like riding the greyhound in the old days.  I took a few pics last night, but cannot post them until I get back home, however Lago has some......I am the one who looks like I could be the mother to everyone else.  Ah well, I am alive and kickin'(not too high) so I guess that is what counts, right.  Once again thank you for meeting with me and thanks Lago for making arrangements.  Either today or tomorrow I am to make my trip to the popcorn store...Garret's is it?.....several friends back home want it.  Hope you all have a good day and that the snow goes somewhere else.  Marybe

Good morning ladies...thanks so much for the warm welcome...

It is so hard for my friends at home and family to quite understand my anxiety...

stress...etc.  so I thought it would be nice to connect to someone who has a lot of the same

issues...Gotta hit the shower....gotta be at work soon......It snowed about 2 inches here.

    Come on Spring!

Denise -- exactly why everyone is here.  Most friends and family ( though so very well meaning most of the time ) are a bit clueless about the kind of fear and anxiety we have after this diagnosis.  Glad you are here.

Krista.....a rousing welcome to you as well.  It's a wonderful place to call your second home.

Denise....I really didn't know the Ross's.  I left home at 18 and did not return ( not even on vacation ) until I was 51.  I do recall Dr. Carl Hall, but mainly as my father worked for him for some time -- he gave all those acres of land to the Foundation park where the Balloon Fest is held ever year.

Bj -- all of us who wish to lose some wt. ( me first ) can come and run up those 30 flights of stairs with one suitcase each.  Well, I would but I don't think DD can wait two and a half days to get her suitcase.  Did I say running???

Wendy -- definitely skipping your offer of ice cream.  Oh my!  What will be thought of next and why?

Marybe....the dog show does sound like more fun.  I'd probably be getting back from lunch a little late -- ladies powder rm. is almost always rt. next to dog shows isn't it???  Ok, I didn't say that.  Glad dinner was great and the weather cooperated.  Hopefully decent weather will continue for your stay.  I'm sure you don't look like anyone's mother --- why I'm the same age as all these women here, even if they are mainly younger than me.

Going to the Shelter today.....see you all much later tonight.

    Hugs, Jackie

    Thanks everyone for the welcome!

A little about me... I am 32y/o single mother to a beautiful 5 year old girl, Layna. I am excited that I booked our vacation to FL just today!  It's a little gift to both of us for having made it through cancer!

I work as a Surgical ICU nurse at Rush Universtiy in Chicago. In Sept. I am going back to school to become a Nurse Anesthetist. I have three dogs that drive me crazy sometimes, but I love them!

Blackjack, I would love to meet up for monthly dinners/lunches!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to both Denise and Krista!  We are so glad that you decided to join us.  Come often, chat, vent, ask questions, offer advice, read Jackie's daily quotes, or just "hang out" with us.  We're all here for the same reason and we've formed some pretty good bonds.

Denise, you are so right!  It IS hard for our family and friends to understand our anxiety, and that darn anxiety doesn't go away as soon as the treatments are over.  I think everyone here DOES understand that and we help each other through the worries and agonies that accompany this disease...........hopefully in a postive manner.  Welcome to the Illinois thread!

Laura, I think your photography job sounds like fun, but I love working with kids.  Now if I could just take a decent picture of somebody, I might look into that field myself!  Unfortunately, I'm not photography oriented!  I never catch that good smile and nothing is ever centered correctly, although I guess you can now crop photos to center them.

Krista, you are way too young to be dealing with this.  Hugs to you!  It sounds like you have a great relationship with your young daughter and I love your FL vacation idea.  You two will have LOTS of fun.  I'm thinking about planning a FL Disney trip for my grandsons this summer.  The little ones are so much fun!!! Welcome also to the Illinois thread!

I had my blood work yesterday and then met with my primary care physician in the afternoon for a blood pressure check, etc.  Now I wait until next Friday for the results of the blood work.  Hopefully it will be good and I can breathe a sigh of relief and go on with my life for another few months! :-)

BJ...I don't envy you the moving experience this weekend.

We didn't get much snow compared to what they were predicting and I am very pleased with that.  I've had enough of this white stuff for the year and I'm ready for Spring and sunshine.

Well I need to get back to working on my taxes and doing some laundry.  I hope everyone has a good day!

Hi Ladies & a shoutout to Krista & Denise

Very nice to see Lago, Adey & Marybe in person last night. I enjoyed the company and food. I can't make a lot of these meetups, but this one was steps from my office, so that worked out nicely. I hope everyone is doing as well as they looked!

Welcome Krista & Denise. Sorry you have to be hear but glad to see you post.

Krista maybe I'll see  you at Rush sometime. I'm there at least every 3 weeks till October. Do they ever let you have lunch?

Laura, good luck with the interview!

Another thanks to all who made it last night. I really enjoyed the company. Finally met Adey and Marybe… got to see EnglishMajor again who was in a much better mood than the first time we met. (We were both disappointed in the presentation this fall at Northwestern). I hope this becomes a yearly thing since Marybe seems to come in once a  year for this seminar.

I will post a photo if I get an OK from everyone. I know some folks like to remain private so I want to check first.

I don't know if this had been discussed but I have to say something. I know BJ stands for Black Jack but my dirty mind always thinks of something else first  Tongue out Guess chemopause didn't effect my dirty mind.

Weekends almost here! Enjoy everyone. Marybe have a safe trip home.

    Hi Ladies -
Another lurker joining the mix!  Don't post much but spend a lot of time (probably much more than I should) reading this and several other threads.  I mostly post when I have questions/concerns.

Today is a question...I am done with all my treatments and have been on Tamox since mid-November.  Saw my gyn last night for the first time since dx and he suggested that I would be a good candidate for an ooph & switching to AI.  I was surprised and also excited to think about no longer having periods (yep, I'm in the 1/3 group that has not stopped with the Tamox) so I don't know that I fully understood why he thought it would be a good option for me.   He said I should discuss it with my MO but I won't be seeing him again for a while so I wanted to ask what others know about going this route and what your experiences have been.

BTW, I am 45 and 95% ER+ (it sounded like those factored into the mix).  I have no known family history of BC & don't know my BRCA status.

    Have a great Friday!
    Jenn

Haven't posted in awhile, been so busy with the kids.  We had both a recital and music festival in the last two weeks for the cellist and vocalist in the house.  One of my athletes has been busy with basketball and soccer, the other athlete is injured so we are dealing with lots of physical therapy so she can recover in time for state competitions in April.  In between all this, I have been fitting in chemo!  Fortunately, other than fatigue and finger pain, my side effects have been pretty manageable, so I've been able to keep working full time, just taking treatment days off.  Down to three treatments left, had my first Taxol yesterday, and it just felt milder than A/C, we'll see what the next few days bring.

Welcome to all the new members.

Working from home today, and have a plumber in the house... and the plumbing bill just keeps going up and up and up every few minutes as he walks in and tells me one more thing is broken.  Why, oh why, did we buy a charming 1928 vintage home, when new construction would have been so much smarter?

OK here the photo from last night. Sorry my camera was on the wrong setting so the color is a little wierd and a bit fuzzy. As you can see Marybe is a bit too young to be my mom! My mom is 73 and was pretty young when I was born.
