Morning all....29 on my deck and I hear that will be about it for today.  I would be soooo happy with a 50 degree day, with sun and NO wind!  I did look at the 10 day forecast and I only saw one 40 degree day and that was this Friday...with pouring rain.  Yuck.

Connie....how horrible and so sad.  I would agree that while that little girl is now safe, she is still dead and that should not be that way.  Whatever is wrong in your life...why the hell do you feel the need to take it out on an innocent child?  I do not understand.  What does that solve?  Is your life better now?  Oh......don't get me started!

Marina.....great news on your DD!  Fantastic!!!!  I too got a very high score and about 3-4 years ago I had an opportunity to read thru the test as it is given now.  Well......amazing how stupid I have become!  Hows your toe?  How much longer in your trial?

Laura...yes!  Your big day is coming.......

BJ.......glad the move went well and no injuries!  Already have another LV trip planned???  Wow!

Rene...have fun on the cruise and I think if you really tried, I would have fit in that carryon!

Hair.......hmmmmmm.....southern hair took about 18 mo to thinly regrow and has not really ever grown back which is fine.  Do check your radiated pits tho...I was told it would never grow back but sure enuf....I get these long hairs that pop up I swear overnight!  Strange......

Julie....glad you are doing OK!  Your kids will keep you sane (or maybe not!  LOL)

Time to get a move on.....just watching more on Charlie Sheen....very sad and if the media would stop enabling him, maybe he would come down and be forced to get some very needed help.  And really....c'mon....does anybody think he should have ANY type of custody of his very small children????  OK....I will shut up about him now....

    Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

If you were busy being kind
Before you knew it you would find,
You'd soon forget to think it was true
That someone was unkind to you.

If you were busy being glad
And cheering people who were sad,
Although your heart might ache a bit,
You'd soon forget to notice it.

If you were busy being good
And doing just the best you could,
You'd not have time to blame the man
Who's doing the very best he can.

If you were busy being true
To what you know you ought to do,
You'd be so busy you'd forget
The blunders of the folks you've met.

BJ it's within the 4-5 mile radius that any city person will travel. Wink Seriously it's just a little over 2 miles. My power walks are longer than that. I'd be up to meet for sure. Glad you survived the move.

Rene I first tried the Men's Rogaine formula a few years ago. I started to grow hair on my face… and it wasn't from dripping. It started on my cheeks! I switched back to the women's formula and only used it once a day. I'm still scared to use it more than once a day. Just a warning to those who do try the Men's… if hair starts to grow on places on you face I would seriously consider using the women's.

Connie child abuse and pedophilia always creeps me out. Yuck and these people live next door. Just don't understand how people can do this to a child.

So far it looks like a sunny day here in the city. Hope all enjoy your Wednesday. I have another appointment today. Another expansion. Need to check to see if this is the last one. I've been bumping into my boobs since the last one last week.

Good morning!!  I drove yesterday to lunch and now I finally feel normal again.. I had such a hard time being stuck at home.. I'm still limping but I think I'll be OK to fly on Monday without wheel chair service.
To answer a few who have asked.. I have 4 more trips to Seattle.. 3 more vaccines and one for tests. They will not be testing my blood for another 4-6 mos as they are completing another big trial and are busy analyzing that blood.. However they think I am having a good outcome due to the itchiness side effects.. how much of a resopnse... is TBD at this point.. Since Stage IV HER2's have a hight chance of brain mets and Herceptin doesn't get up there. I am really hoping this is my weapon..

Off to my Onc/Bloodwork/Herceptin at noon.. For now I'm back on my stepper machine so I feel good about that too..

Went to visit Daycare yesterday too.. Baby is starting May 1st.. Nanny is leaving March 26th when we fly to Puerto Vallarta with all the kids.. so April I'm on my own.. will be a very busy month!!

Hair - I did get all mine back down there and eyelashes and brows rather quickly.. My hair on my head is still pretty short and very thick and curly.. just looks like a very short cut.. I had it cut right after my scan in January.. and seems like I may need another to shape it soon... Debating if I will color or not..  I use Argan Oil every night on my hair.. don't know if it's helping or not.. but it does make it look 'healthy'..

    Enjoy the sun today..

I too am perplexed that anyone could harm children, but then I am the person who sucks up spiders in the vacuum.....believing they then have a chance.

    Marina.....good things coming, huh

Gotta run.....don't know what the writing above is all about.

    See you all later.

Here is the latest on our neighbor.  I guess we have to not jump to conclusions, but with the amount of time the police spent at the house, it is hard to believe it was innocent.  No sign of them returning to the house yet.

The first people they look at is the family. I'm not saying that the police made a mistake but it has happened. I wondered when you first posted the story if they were in fact innocent. Time will tell.

Oh Connie, that is just terrible.............no matter HOW it happened.  The death of a child is so sad.

Marina, I'm so glad you're back to driving and on the mend.  It sounds like lots of good things are happening and you're marking off those Seattle trips.

Laura, did you get my email?

I'm off to warm up some chili and make some grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner.  I hope everybody had a great day!

This is long...but for those of us who are up to speed with VitD3, it's an interesting article:

8000 IUs of vitamin D daily necessary to raise blood levels of "miracle" anti-cancer nutrient, declares groundbreaking new research

(NaturalNews) The reign of censorship and suppression against vitamin D is now coming to an end. Even though the Institute of Medicine (IOM) and many institutions leading the cancer industry (including the ACS) have intentionally tried to downplay the ability of vitamin D to prevent cancer, a new study appearing in the journal Anticancer Research lays out the simple, powerful truth about vitamin D that we've been teaching at NaturalNews for years: A typical adults needs 4,000 - 8,000 IUs of vitamin D each day to prevent cancer, MS and type-1 diabetes, not the ridiculously low 400 - 800 IUs recommended by the U.S. government.

The new research was conducted by scientists at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha. It is groundbreaking research because it establishes the relationship between vitamin D dosage and circulating vitamin D levels in the blood.

This is a first. It is crucial information for the health care revolution that will be necessary to save states and nations from total health care bankruptcy in the coming years. Vitamin D turns out to be one of the simplest, safest and most affordable ways to prevent degenerative disease and sharply reduce long-term health care costs.

Up to 8,000 IUs needed daily

"We found that daily intakes of vitamin D by adults in the range of 4,000 to 8,000 IU [international units] are needed to maintain blood levels of vitamin D metabolites in the range needed to reduce by about half the risk of several diseases -- breast cancer, colon cancer, multiple sclerosis and type 1 diabetes," said Dr. Cedric Garland. (http://health.ucsd.edu/news/2011/02-22-vitamin-D-cancer-risk.htm)

Dr. Garland is the professor of family and preventive medicine at the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center. He went on to say:

"I was surprised to find that the intakes required to maintain vitamin D status for disease prevention were so high -- much higher than the minimal intake of vitamin D of 400 IU/day that was needed to defeat rickets in the 20th century."

Study reveals 90% vitamin D deficiency rate across U.S. population

This particular study involved over 3,000 volunteers who were taking vitamin D supplements. Researchers drew blood samples from them in order to determine their levels of 25-vitamin D (the common form circulating in the blood).

The results were shocking even to the study authors, revealing that 90 percent of those studied were deficient in vitamin D, falling below the 40 - 60 ng/ml range now considered healthy. (Most nutritionally-aware experts in the natural health world recommend higher ranges of 60 - 70 ng/ml, actually.)

The U.S. government's Institute of Medicine has intentionally downplayed vitamin D recommendations, seemingly in an effort to keep boosting the profits of the cancer industry by denying any real benefit to vitamin D. The IOMs most recent recommendations seemed designed to actually cause vitamin D deficiency in the U.S. population (http://www.naturalnews.com/030598_vitamin_D_Institute_of_Medicine.html).

The IOM has even gone out of its way to artificially lower the threshold of vitamin D deficiency by claiming that 20 ng/ml is a sufficient level. This magically transforms a "deficient" person into a "non-deficient" person by merely changing the definition. So a person with a level of 22 ng/ml, for example, is not considered "vitamin D deficient" by the established medical system, even though their vitamin D levels are so low that they may not be able to prevent cancer, MS or type-1 diabetes.

Why the truth about vitamin D is a huge threat to the established for-profit medical system

As NaturalNews has documented and reported many times over the last several years, the medical establishment -- and especially the cancer industry -- has willfully engaged in attempts to prevent people from learning the truth about vitamin D in order to protect the lucrative profits generated from sickness and disease. Vitamin D represents a greater threat to the medical establishment than any other single nutrient for three reasons:

    1) Vitamin D is FREE (you can get it from the sun, without a prescription).

    2) Vitamin D prevents over a dozen high-profit diseases and health conditions (osteoporosis, cancer, diabetes, MS, and others).

    3) Vitamin D is extremely safe, even when taken in supplement form, because it's a natural vitamin / hormone that the body recognizes.

Gosh, by that standard, I'm not taking nearly enough Vitamin D 3.  I go tomorrow to the oncologist and I'll ask what my most recent D level is.  Maybe I need to up my supplements.

My internist tests all his patients for D. I found about my low D 16 months ago prior to BC diagnosis. Although I'm not low D anymore thanks to all the suppliments.

Vitamin D... I was able to get my level up big time with the prescription 50,000Units a week for 8 weeks.  But I am going to have my PCP check my levels again in a couple weeks just to see if it is dropping off since.  I think it sounds like we have a good excuse for a nice sunny beach vacation!  That fixes alot of things!

I've been able to get mine quite high alternating between 5,000 and 4,000 each day.. Now I am down to 3,000 a day..  Though I like Joan's suggestion of beach vacation instead!!  I'll be the one in the shade though.. Been told to stay out of the sun by my nurse..

Had a normal Herceptin day yesterday.. no cough.. and all blood work was within the range for the first time EVER at the hospital.. Yay!!

Trying to re-learn to walk now that my toe is healing.. and it's hard.. I have a really big limp..

Hope everyone is doing well today.. Finally temps are in the 40's!!  My DD is home tomorrow.. so Sushi and shopping as usual for us!! (had to bribe her away from her friends with that one.. :)

As I mentioned before I was really low. I too was put on prescription D for 2 months then switched to 1000 IU of D3 on top of the 400IU I was already taking. Then my onc had me take 1200  of calcium that came with an additional 400 IU of D. I'm now just above high normal as of this fall. What a difference a year makes.

I slacked off of D3 a bit this summer - since I was spending a lot of time at my friend's pool. Bad decision...my D3 dropped - even though I was soaking up the sun. Dang! lol

I am now working at getting it back up to about 60. I take 6000 iu's a day. Will be tested again in a few months. It's a tricky thing!

I agree a beach vacation would do us all a world of good! How about considering this:

3RD ANNUAL TA TAS SISTERHOOD REUNION IN VEGAS!

THE DATE OF THIS FUN CELEBRATION IS SEP 30TH-OCTOBER 3RD!

    I need a room mate...any takers!?

mak - Glad your little piggies are doing better. I know, all too well, the relief of knowing/feeling that they're healing! Whew...

Whether you pray or not, can you keep my friend's daughter in your prayers or thoughts? My friend's 16 year old daughter was dx'd w/non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. We are having a fund raiser for her on Saturday night. She is currently getting chemo and is quite ill from it. Appreciate your thoughts, prayers and well wishes. Thanks!

Interesting info on VitD.  On my last visit to my onc (2 weeks ago) he said that the studies were now coming out that Vit D supplements really made no difference to cancer survivorship.  The previous visit he said he was watching it but said I was normal at 23.  I thought I read somewhere that high doses where ok but not for long periods of time.  I hate not knowing what to do.

I think high is over 4000IU but in Laura's case it sounds like she needs the high dose. I don't think she is in the mega high dose area.

Connie - I know it can be frustrating. For me, I feel moderate amounts of D3 can't hurt - so why not! lol Every Dr will never agree on every issue. It's a matter of faith and trust in our own Drs.

lago - Thanks for the article. Like mostly everything...moderation is key.

ADEY - Your head will be looking like a baby chick just in time for Easter! LOL

Yay Adey's got hair! Funny yours grew from bottom up. Mine grew from top down. You'll be looking like Sinead O'connor < good happy video song for you to sing on you way to Rads, in no time. I was looking forward to that look but it appears I might turn into Steve Jobs instead. I might even add the glasses too. (Ophthalmologist in 2 weeks).

Look like a down pour any minute here too.  I was hoping it would hold off till noon. Looks like the best part of the day will be before noon though.

Almost the weekend everyone. It might be our last chilly one. 1 more week till day light savings time ends! Spring is coming! We might even have a thunder/lightening storm today. Love thunder & lightening. It's one of my favorite things about living in the Midwest.

I was taking 5,000 at one point and then I went down to 2,500.  Then this last visit my onc told me I only need 400!  I do get a lot of sunlight in the summer on the boat (yeah BJ)!  Maybe I will go back to the 2,500 and dial it down a bit in the summer.  I am going for a Vit D test next week so we will see what it says.

Great news on the hair Adey!  You are almost done!

My levels on D were good.....but then, I didn't ask for the numbers.  As I am going to be doing a program at our local Rec Center sponsored by our hospital here.....I'm thinking of calling the nurses from V.A. and getting a copy of my blood tests that showed those figures and see what they actually were........The nurse here running the program for the Rec Center is very good and I think I could really get some personalized help to a degree.

We are getting rain squalls here....drat, but I knew it was coming Maybe we have dry periods in between like they day.  I will have to live with it.

I'll be checking late.  Way to go Adey.

    Hugs, Jackie
