OH ADEY.....I'm sorry that my birthday wishes are a day late. I hope you had a great birthday!
I, too have been thinking about Julie today and hoping that all is going well.
I also hope that everyone has a great Mother's Day weekend. Dave and I are joining Mary Jane and her family and friends in the Peoria Susan G. Komen walk early on Saturday morning. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather. Last year we about froze in place! There is something so monumental about this particular walk. It rejuvenates me and opens my eyes to the huge number of women who have been and are currently being affected by this disease. My emotions almost always get to me during the ceremonial Survivor's Walk that's held right before the regular walk. Guess I'd better go armed with Kleenex again!
I'm heading out early this afternoon to the Scholastic Bowl state tournament. I'm not moderating today.....just enjoying the competition as a spectator. Then our golfing group is meeting at one of our golfer's houses for salad and pizza! Did I mention that the sun is actually shining today? It's going to be a good day!
Hugs to all of you!

FInally a nice day out.. Went to the Block Center today.. Drove all the way to Evanston only to find out they moved.. and the security guard had no idea where to!! Thank God for iPhones.. So drove back to where I came from.. Got 17 vials of blood taken and spoke to their Onc.. Same opinion as from mine.. though he HAS seen lymph nodes enlarge from vaccines.. Frankly I'm not as optimistic, but at least I know a Plan.. My fear only being for it not to spread in the next 12 weeks..
My DH is sick with a cold.. so this will not be too fun of a weekend.. but as long as I'm OK, Gab and I will play and have fun!!
JULIE.... Thinking of you.. hope everything went well today..
ADEY- Happy belated B-Day!!

Happy birthday Adey!
And thinking of you Julie! Hugs and prayers.
Princess Juliet - did you find a surgeon? My co-worker loved her surgeon but said he was in Evanston not Skokie. She was going to email me his info today but she must have forgotten.
Off to see my son in his school's musical - Alice in Wonderland - he is the doormouse and a playing card! Fun, fun!

Julie, thoughts with you all day.
Makmak, we all have plenty of hope as do your doctors. Sometimes it is easier not to be optimistic because it takes so much effort to remain optimistic. But we are all optimistic for you. I am holding on to hope and never letting go.

Rita, watch Connie at JJ. I think she might be a hustler. She lays low with a low score and then poof, she is a snake dancer. Can't you see the three of us in Vegas doing an all-nighter at the machines!

HI Girls...Happy TGIF to all. UPDATE ON JULIE: I just received an email from Julie's friend Sarah and she said that Julie is out of surgery and doing well. They biopsied 2 nodes and they were NED !! I don't have any other info to share at this time. But I would like to suggest to everyone if you could send her a get well card to really make her feel loved. She has been on an emotional roller coaster for the past few weeks and she really needs our support now..I will keep you updated as I hear from her friend.
Adey.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!!!! Celebrate all weekend. how is your running coming along.
Zap....if you, Connie and Rita go to LV I am going too. lol Yes, I have done all nighters at the slots. lol When are you leaving for your Mexico trip? Grads to your dd on her graduations. Bet you are so proud.
Makmak....wishing you good test results. When there is an infection in our bodies are lymps do tend to enlarge. Lymps get rid of all the bad junk in our bodies. I would just do the wait and see program. Prom is coming soon. Please post pics. I miss prom time. sniff sniff.
Connie...boating season is here!!!!! Now we just need some warmer weather and sun. Only 24 more days of school but who is counting....me

Happy belated Birthday Addy!
Blackjack-thanks for the update on Julie.
Bustersmom-so good to see you post. Sorry about your mom's dx. Hugs to you and her.
I am really far behind in reading posts, so hugs to all those who are going through tx and difficult times. Thinking of you.
Rita-thanks for doing the walk.... for all of us. Looks like we will be getting a pontoon boat in a week. We found a used one with a trailer from an acquaintance. I'm really excited.
(Also, someone copied me on an email about the importance of covering our thyroid when we have mammograms and dental xrays. I never thought about that. Anyone hear about this?)
Happy Mother's Day!

Morning! I see it's raining....again! I got more than half of the deck powerwashed but the rest will have to wait. Then I need 2-3 dry days to seal it. Wonder if that will ever happen...
BJ.... thx for the update on Julie. I see it will be in the 80's next week...I have my chair ready! How many days of school left for you? DH's last day is 6/15. HIS last day...kids and staff off earlier.
Rita....thanks for doing the walk! Say HI to MaryJane for us!
Jackie...Maggie is not having a good year. I loved the pic of "your car" on FB!Adey....Happy Belated Birthday!
Great....power just went out....and no storms...oh well, at least it's daytime!
Mich101....a boat??? What lake??? I was the one who found that article about covering ur thyroid...I couldn't figure out how to post a link so I sent it to Laura. A friend sent it to me and I thought it was interesting.
Susan....yep, Smerf is right! Docs refuse to even consider the shingles vaccine for me when I turn 60 but said to ask again when I hit the magic number. I was due for tetnus but my PCP said no since he did not feel I was at high-risk and he and my onc wanted me to be out of chemo for 5 full years before I receive any vaccine...and I'm not quite there yet. Chemo does screw with our immune system so think very carefully about that shingles vaccine! I see the onc in July and it will be 5 years then so I will ask about the tetnus and also the shingles vaccine. It would be my luck to step on something!!!!!Funny thing...among all the rest of the stuff I did yesterday was 3 loads of laundry. DH just brought down 2 huge bags....could someone please tell me where it all came from??? I really think he hides it somewhere....now just have to wait for the power to come back on! Have a great weekend, all and to all the Moms...
Happy Mother's Day!

Good morning to the morning that will get much better after the rain passes. Another really wet, soggy night, but at least it is going to bring some warmth with it.
Glad you like my car Wendy. If I ever win the lottery it's mine.
Interesting about the shingles vaccine, and for that matter getting anything ( per your oncologist, Wendy ) but I think that is a part of the "new normal" and having to pick and choose about so many things that once were standard and run of the mill items. I'd just as soon pick and choose though rather than not.
Yay for Julie and clear nodes.
Long day today, but they will be while Maggie is at St. Marys' Resort. To her house twice a day....the first just to let the doggies out to potty....then later to clean, then a trip to St. Mary's with her newspapers. She is a bit better....she is complaining about the food. Didn't want to tell her that it "tastes" like her food should all the time, but on her own does not.
Rita...did I tell you we had three sets so far of baby kittens. We are all a bit embarrassed at the shelter. Our one big fluffy kitty ( her name is actually Fluffy ) got pregnant right there and no one knew it. One day about 3 1/2 weeks ago she was AWOL and someone followed a 'trail' to a cabinet. Inside was Mom Fluffy and 4 brand new baby kittens. We are fairly certain who the perpetrator was and that has since been remedied. Never trust anyone who brings in a "new resident " and tells you they are spayed on the paperwork. The other moms were brought in with their new offspring. We are once again very full of felines.
Hope you all will have a good day today and hopefully not get wet. I'll be thinking of you.
Hugs, Jackie

That is so great about Julie. Thanks for the update.
Also thanks for the news about shingles vaccine. My doctor gave me a vaccine for whooping cough when there was a break out in the shcools here. I wonder if that was okay to do. I am fine so I guess it doesn't matter. Shows once again you have to do your own research.
Jackie, such a story about the kitties. I love that story. Bring in one cat and add in four additional babies.
Off to the Field Museum...that is where the graduation ceremony is being held.

We have to wait 5 years for a tetnus shot! I'm due in 2013. I can't believe it's going to take a full 5 years for my immune system to get back to normal after chemo. We'll see what happens in 2 years.

The walk is finished. It was jam-packed again today. Erik Brinker, Nancy Brinker's son and Susan G. Komen's nephew, was there today. The best message I saw today was on the back of several shirts from one of the teams. It said, "Whoever said that winning isn't everything, obviously was not fighting breast cancer." That says it all, doesn't it? There was even a man who walked in the survivor's walk this year. It was well worth getting up at 4:00 to get over there for the event. We drove there in the rain but the weather cleared and by the time the main walk started, we were walking in shirt sleeves only. It was a beautiful day in Peoria!
Oh Jackie, it is such a good thing that I don't work at your shelter. I'm sure I'd drag home a few of those kittens.
Michele, you will love that pontoon. We have ours ready to put in the water. Maybe next week......I'm getting the fever! :-) I'm so glad that you found one with the trailer.
Susan, we'd have an awesome time in Vegas!!!!!! Hmmm........maybe we should think about that! LOL Just when I think I've gotten the advantage in JJ, one of you passes me up and then challenge is once again on!
Lago, I hope you are feeling better!
Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers! Enjoy your special day!
Rita

Lago - My GP gave me a tetnus shot this past February - I finished chemo last June.

Big oops Susan....I think I didn't explain real clearly. Fluffy was NOT pregnant when she arrived over 6 mos. ago. But, the guy that brought her in said she had been spayed.....so after the quarantine period we let her roam the building as several of the cats do. One of the roamers also was an un-neutered male.....but since we though all the females were "sterile" etc. etc. we did not rush Puffy -- yes, his name is really Pufffy to the Vet, and we have been laughing calling him Puff-Daddy now as 2 of Fluffy's babies bear an exceedingly strong resemblance to Puffy.
It is hard sometimes to work there......sometimes it is also hard to "leave" the dogs to find a home. Right now we have a St. Bernard, 1 Dachshund, 2 Shiatsu's, 1 more Puggle puppy mix, and 2 little ones ( not sure what they are ) that are quite small. They are all fun and some very charming.
We have had ( rather than the predicted rain ) sun most of the day with temps getting to 76. I'm loving it. See you all later.
Hugs, Jackie

Wendy-I'm close to the Chain. I know it gets really busy on the water on weekends but we hope to use it mainly early mornings for fishing and relaxing
The best part is that we can take the dogs too! So for the next year or so, it will be staycations for us!!!0 -
Jackie, what a cute story. Poor Puff Daddy! Couldn't hide the evidence very well. Also reading back as I am still catching up with posts, I'm so glad Chico is better. So hard when pets are sick, and mine always hated to stay at vets so much. Also, you are Maggie's angel, and i know she appreciates what a friend she has in you.
Gosh, Wendy you have a really cautious onc. I got pertussis and tetanus vaccines the year after chemo because I was due. I checked with onc, and checked package inserts, and both said it was fine. Shingles is a live vaccine, and not approved for cancer or chemo patients. My internist disagrees with that, but I always refuse to have it anyway. I think my onc and the FDA both saying no is good enough for me!
BJ..thanks for the update in Julie. I'll send off a card tomorrow. Spending Mother's day {and today, for that matter] at the nursing home with my aunt. Want to wish you all a lovely day tomorrow, and do something fun!
Annette, congratulations on the new little one in your family. Love to hear good news like that!
Best to you all,
Pat

Oh, the graduation was so wonderful. I AM so proud of my daughter. We then did dinner. BJ, ask your daughter about Uncommon Ground in Wrigley. Organic food, young and fun! Just a wonderful evening.
Julie, I lost your post on facebook but I know you need a ride to the docs. I work Tuesday and Wednesday, but I can drive you Thursday or Friday if you can get a switch on the appointment. Open all day, both days. Let me know. I can pick you up and return you safely to your home. I would love to do this, just cannot on your scheduled appointment.
Rita, thanks for doing the walk. I know it is emotional, but good emotional, and it is all good.
That would bring me to Rene who walks tomorrow. We were downtown tonight and they were setting Grant park up for the walk. Thanks, Rene.
Tomorrow we set up the sandbox for our grand kids. Our family decided on a "working" Mother's Day and so we are doing the sandbox, planting flowers and just enjoying the oncoming Spring with Thai carryouts! I wish you all happy day tomorrow and thank you for being my friends.
Susan

Wendy....beach chairs are here ...yeah. Only 25 more days of school then it's play time for me. Oh I am soooo ready for summer break.
Jackie....new babies to play with at the shelter...how fun. Yesterday at Petsmart they had open adoption for dogs. They had a lab mix there that looked just like my dog Jack. Oh sooo cute. Wished I could take him home but 2 dogs is a bit much for me to handle. Hoping he goes to a good home soon.
Makmak...glad to see that your test results were good. relax and enjoy your day today. As I say life is good.
Zap..I will tell my dd about Uncommon ground. We are going down there next weekend to play, shop and have fun. She found a nail place called Princess Nails..so we are going to be princess next week. lol. Let me know when you are coming back up north..maybe do lunch.
Mich / Rita... yes boating season is here. Sitting on the water is the best way to relax and enjoy the calm. As I say I am one with the waves. lol Enjoy your boats!!
Lago...hope you are feeling better soon. Maybe that sunshine will help. Be well.
My kids are coming over today for dinner and my ds is cooking today. I just love when he is home, it gives me a break from the kitchen. I am off to get things ready.
Wishing all a wonderful Mother's Day, past, present and future moms. Remember life is too short. So go out and have fun with the one's your love.

Good sunny morning from the woods. I hope everyone has a fantastic day today. Same routine for me today, but I don't really mind. So often, every day is a holiday for me. As always too, I am thankful that I can come here and share my ups and downs and life with people whom I think seldom say huh ????
Healing happy hugs,

Hello to everyone..
My first official day without baby and Dr appointments is today!! Had lunch with a friend.. Learning to finally use FB..
Picked up Ellen's dress from alterations.. supposed to rain on Saturday..
getting her from hair to make-up will be fun.. maybe the weather will change its mind..
So.. I was reading a new book yesterday and in a section about an immune booster it talked about the signs of 'shots' working.. and I had all those signs.. so I'm thinking the vaccine is working.. AND.. it said that very often tumors may enlarge before going away!! Obviously I was jumpting for joy.. right before bedtime.. That.. and a few new supplements suggested in this book and I'm feeling optimistic!!
Hope everyone enjoys the warmer weather!!
