Morning! 45 on the very windy and wet deck. Yuck. Good day to go back to bed and read and wait for spring to come back.

Mak....beautiful pics! The dress was gorgeous! Your daughter wasn't half-bad either! Lol! Hope she made lots of memories.

Jackie...Maggie still at the hospital? Hope you are taking care if yourself too.

Mich101....are you going to keep your boat in the water? You can bring your boat to Dockers on Pistakee Lake, no charge to tie up and the food is great! We drive up there quite often for lunch during the summer....we are always so jealous of the "boat people"!

Rita....so, boat in???? Or too cold????

This weather is nuts....I have grasses on top of my hill and they are still not up. I do see a blade or two of grass tho so I know they are not dead but usually by now they are almost a foot tall. Wanted to go to Cantigney to see the lilacs and horse chestnut trees in bloom but I guess today is not the day! Hope you all have a great Sunday regardless of the weather....

The quote is to cheer me up.  Hate to say it is cold and yucky ( going to rain some more probably too ) here in my part of So. Illinois.  Like that yesterday too.  I hope the whole summer is not going to be a "weird" one.

Maggie is still in the hospital.  13 days today.  Time flies.  The only good thing....I am making a few changes at her house.  No more wet food for her cats.  She feels it is kind, but it is expensive and time consuming and they do not need it unless they are taking medication.  I got rid of her heavily soiled recliner ( beyond redemption ) and took an extra one I had here and put it in the house.

Seems I think they may want to put a stent in her lower leg.....bad circulation going on.  Seems risky to me.....bp not easily controlled, and she is 89 -- vein transplant maybe.  I don't talk to the Dr. so not sure what will be, but I doubt she can be at home right now.  If released from the hospital.....she may have to go to the nursing home for awhile till they figure out what to do with the leg/foot that is casing such pain.

At least most of our trees are all filled out now.......and maybe if I get my table and chairs out Spring will just have to straighten up.  Anyway, I too hope you can find something great to do today andhave a fine day despite the atmosphere.

    Hugs, Jackie

Makmak your daughter looks lgorgeous. Lovely dress. You look awesome too! How do you walk in those heels?

I did get my pashima yesterday. I'm still debating if I should wear my long puffy coat. Brrrrr. BTW I did put up a transition photo of my hair. It starts with this past Friday and ends with a week before my surgery last August. Just in case anyone is interested: linky

Try and keep warm for those of you who are local. The one good thing is at least I don't have to worry about the wind/rain messing up my hair. My hair days are pretty consistent these days. Tongue out

makmak.....That dress is gorgeous and your daughter is so very pretty!  What a special time for her!  Thanks for sharing!

Well, we didn't get the boat into the water this weekend as planned.  It rained most of Saturday and has continued this morning.  Our ladies golf scramble is cancelled for today and the boat is just going to have to wait until next week I guess.  What crazy weather we've had this year!   We go frm 80 degrees one day to 45 the next!   So.......we have a group of ladies who are heading for the movies this afternoon.

I hope everyone is doing well in spite of the weather.

Happy cold rainy Sunday to all. What happened to all that warm weather we had for 2 days. I had to pull out my winter coat last night. brr It was down right yucky last night walking in the cold wet rain. No boats in the water yet and no beach hair either. Sniff sniff.

Smerf.....hope your birthday was wonderful. Many more to come.

Makmak....Prom.. how beautiful your daughter looks in her dress. She does look like you. Hope she had a wonderful time. Pictures are priceless.

Jackie...sorry to hear that Maggie is still in the hospital. What a wonderful friend you are to help take care of her house while she is sick. You are truly an angel...how is the shelter..do you have many pets to take care of now.

Rita... no golfing...no boating....cold and raining ..what is a girl to do. Nothing but sit and read a good book, drink hot tea and relax. but not for too long. Hoping for some sun and fun soon.

Wendy...no sun, no beach chair. Where is that fairy of yours! Get her out of that laundry room. lol and find some sun. Only 17 more days to school is out and then playtime begins. But who is counting.....me of course.

Laura...how scary about your trees in the forest. Hope it was no were near your house. yikes that would not be good. did you plant your flowers yet. My planter boxes are still bare.... and waiting

Zap....yes I am counting down the days 17 left. The kids are getting squirrely and want to be outside. I have lots to do at school...year end paper work sucks! sorry potty mouth. When is your trip...soon. Have fun and enjoy your sunshine.

Lago....the dress is beautiful and I love the new hair color. You will look gorgeous at your wedding. I have 5 wedding this summer to go to. I have 2 wedding dresses that I alternate with. Basic black, classic style but I love to dress them up with jewelry and shawls. Have fun and dance the night away.

Adey..how isa the running coming along..feeling better.

Well gotta run now. Just stopping by for a quick hello to all. Have a warm and cozy Sunday inside of course. lol Off the movies to see Bridesmaids. You know we all have been one!!!!

Good to hear from all.  We are holed up in this house just like it is winter.  DH is cooking tonight.  Yum.

BJ I leave one week from today.  We are going to Sante Fe and then to Taos.  I am excited for the change  Lots of plans this summer and it promises to be a great one if things finally warm up.

Rene, I pm'd you with the name of the apartment hunter for your son.  This guy is not pushy at all and quite young, so may know what yourr son and his buddies are looking for.  Four bedrooms will be tough unless they get a house and that could be a good idea!

BJ, you're on the downward slide at school now.  How well I remember those days!

Jackie, your generosity amazes me!  Maggie is so lucky to have a friend like you!

Susan, it won't be long until you're enjoying some time away!  Good for you!!!!   There was no way I could get near you this week on JJ!   You had an awesome score.

Mary Jane and I are joining another retired teacher today for our shopping trip.  We're headed to Peoria for the day.  The sun is out so maybe the temps will begin to climb upward again.  What a miserable May weekend!

I hope everyone in treatment is doing well.  Keep plugging along.  You can do it.

BJ- I'm still only doing a mile run, then a short walk and run again.  I've slacked off a bit...

Lago- Hope the wedding was fun and somewhat warm!

Mak- What fun!  My DD goes this Saturday and it looks like her dress is very similar.  I'll try to post a pic.

    Happy Monday all.

Thanks everyone for all your replies.. She had a wonderful time.. Then off we went yesterday to brunch for her and my Mom's B-day.. DH got food poisoning.. so the evening wasn't too great.. not the best finale for the weekend...

Just got my blood tests from the Block Center. Nothing is too abnormal.. as they say, you can NEVER have perfect blood work.. not when they take 17 vials.. but, the few that are OFF, are not way off the charts just marginal.. some easily fixed.. a few fixable with excercise.. I've slacked a bit with being on my own with the baby.. and some supplements which I actually just started last week.. So.. I'm a bit relieved that no red flags there.. not that it means much but it sometimes indicates something and at least is meant to ensure things DON"T go bad..

Finally a sunny day today too.. Got some cooking done.. and getting my house cleaned today..

Lago, how was the Wedding and what did you end up wearing?

    Hi:

There is a freeze alert tonight which means we have to haul all the container plants into the garage.  Yuck.  I spoke to the  the nursery where I purchased my plants and asked if I could cover them with plastic and was told it was safer to bring them in (at least the garage).

Makmak, glad to hear that the bloodwork is okay.

Rita, glad you have the boat in the water.  I know Dave loves to fish.  Do you have fish in that water? I wish I loved catfish because it seems like such a cool thing to love, but I had bad catfish once and it has remained forever in my mind as not agreeable.  We were at a catfish festival and I suspect these catfish had been in catfish heaven a bit too long before I got to eat one and I became quite ill.

Yes, Lago, we need to hear about the wedding.  Did you dance up a storm? Also, Lago, my dd goes to the Farmer's Market and it is also an open air market in Lincoln Park (near zoo).  She LOVES it.  My mothers's  day present from her was asparagus, some heirloom tomatoes and a big bag of basil.  Maybe we could meet up there one Saturday.

    See you all later!

    Susan

The sun is shining but it is cold outside.....but I love the sunshine...it brightens my day!

June 13 th is approaching soon and I so look forward to meeting some of you in Lombard, IL.

that week.  Prayers to all that are facing any difficulties right now.  Well, gotta get ready to head off to work.....Kept all four grandsons last night so son could take daughter in law out for her birthday...

They are so much fun....the 6 year old is so grown up ...carries on a conversation more like a 12 year old ...the we have a four year old and twins 18 months that are as different as night and day...they definitely keep this nana hopping...     Hugs to all!   Marsha

ATeam Nana......It sounds like those grandchildren kept you busy.  I really wish mine were closer.  Being a grandma is a "good busy!"

Susan, we don't have the boat in the water yet.  We planned on getting it in last weekend but it rained all weekend so it's still sitting to the side of the house.  We're hoping to get it in on Saturday.  Both of us love to fish and the fish that we caught last year tasted so good over the winter months...........much better than what you buy in the stores.  It is also so peaceful out on the water.  Hopefully this will be the weekend to get started!

makmak....So glad there are no red flags that popped up for you!  YEA!

We had a great time on our shopping excursion yesterday and found some fantastic buys.  I even bought a few more toys to put in my Christmas stash for the boys.  Most of them were half off the regular price and then we had a 20% additional coupon which made them hard to pass up. I have plenty of places to store them and if I keep putting them in my standard "gift" closet, I remember where they are!  :-)

I hope everyone is doing well today!  I'm off to get things picked up around the house and to plant a few more pots when it gets a little warmer out there.  I'll be back later before evening golf!

    Have a good day!

Very chilly morning here but a little sun.  That always ( just like Nana ) lifts my spirits and gives me some enthusiasm for doing whatever I do.

Big day today....I'm doing my Shelter day today. Fri. I will go clean up the clubhouse for my cousin's wake and then cook for it.  The wake will be on Saturday.

Got Maggie off to Barnes Jewish in St. Louis, Mo. yesterday.  That will be good for me as I will not make the daily trip to St. Mary's here to take her papers....but will have to make do with phone calls.  Will still have to clean at her house and recheck later to let the dogs out to "go".  I hope Barnes ( big teaching hospital connected to St. Louis University ) can get the stents that Maggie needs without incident.  Maggie was not allowed to leave St. Marys as I don't think they ever really got her BP straightened out though they were able to get it down a bit.  You nurses would know --- but hopefully these stents will help settle that down too.  I assume her electrolytes were way out of whack -- nice medical term, eh!

Anyway, best get started.  Hope you will all at least have sun...75 degrees would be nice but probably a huge stretch.  Hope it's a good day anyway.

    Hugs, Jackie

Wedding was lovely. Great venue, food and crowd. The weather wasn't a problem. Granted if it were nicer we could have gone outside but it was still very very nice. Pictures of wedding including DH and the bride:

Happy Tuesday everyone - just popping in as well to say hello :)

It's still chilly out but at least it's sunny.

Just a quick mention - my Dad & his wife have a friend that was recently dx'd.  They gave me her phone number, as she had a few questions.  I spoke to her for a bit, & I told her about this website, and this thread, specifically.  So I am hoping she will come on by to meet this wonderful bunch of women.  You guys were a Godsend to me when I was first dx'd  (well, you still are :)

    XOXO   Juliet

Lots going on here as usual.  Makmak... your daughter is lovely in that dress.  I hope she had a very memorable evening.  And great news from those 17 vials of blood at Block.  Sounds like nothing to get too worried about.  lago... you look stunning in your dress as well.  I hope you stayed warm!  I think I would have been freeeeeezing.  And Jackie and ATeamNana.... where do you get all that energy??? What wonderful caregivers you both are.

I am off to our ladies golf dinner tonight at Lu Malnati's.   Yummm!  Then have to catch an 8am train into the city tomorrow to do my pre-op testing at NW for my next exchange surgery.  I hear that it may be a rainy day.  Sure hope they are wrong.  Good luck to everyone going through treatments and testing.  Haven't heard anything from Onward in a while.  How are rads going?

Can any of you that were tested for Vit D levels and deficient in them tell me what the symptoms are?

Joan888...I do not do nearly as much caregiving as Jackie (sounds like she does it almost daily)...I Just babysit  the grandsons once or twice a week...and my DH always helps out...I do not think I could handle all 4 of them by myself unless it was an emergency...ha ha....they are 6, 4 and twins 18 months...but they are all pretty well behaved.

Buddy1... I was recently tested for Vit D levels...mine was 21 ... Primary Doc put me on 5000IU D3 daily for 3 months...she wants my level up to at least 60.  I have a lot of anxiety and had some fatigue...I 've been taking the VitD3 for about one month...fatigue level seems to be better and I think I have less anxiety also....could be all in mind of course but I'm hoping it is helping...

I had no symptoms. My GP just checks everyone. I was diagnosed with low D about 6-7 months before I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It's not uncommon for us to have low D especially those of us that live in these northern climates with little to no sun exposure in the winter months.
